Name authority control is important for not only library catalogers but also end users, since it provides uniform access points. The national libraries in Japan and the United States have constructed and controlled authority records for writers from early days, and have provided them on the web sites. The purposes of this study are to extract common fields and differences in Japanese writer's name authority records of the U.S. and Japan, and to propose the ways of desirable description of authority records in Korea. Several suggestions of building authority records in National Library of Korea such as open to the pubic of authority records, provision of various forms of authority files, suggestion of the ways of writing the names of foreign writers, and the links between the authority records and library catalogs for retrieval are proposed.

This study aims to examine English learning beliefs of Korean college students enrolled in e-learning courses and to investigate the relationship between their beliefs and L2 achievement. Horwitz's Beliefs about Language Learning Inventory was used to elicit students' beliefs about English learning and their grades in a final exam were employed for the English achievement measure. The data from one hundred sixteen respondents were analyzed through a factor analysis and the analysis revealed 5 factors: Motivation, learning strategies, English aptitude, foreign language aptitude, and communication strategies. The results showed that the most of the e-learning students had a high level of motivation and expectation in learning English but they believed that they had a low language aptitude. Statistically significant correlation was found between students' beliefs in motivation and their L2 attainment.

This study is performed to verify the relationship between Korean's anniversary days and meals. To do so, three steps are carried out. First, literature review and mini focus group interview are performed to list up important anniversary days in our culture. Second, anniversary orientation scale(22 items) is developed. Third, a survey(n=486) is implemented to identify the relationship among demographic variables such as sex, age, and perceived economic level, psychological ariables such as self-esteem, life satisfaction, depression, individuality-relatedness, interpersonal sensitivity, materialism as a value and perceived social support, and meal frequency. The results are as follows: Female is significantly higher than male in anniversary orientation. And younger people(20~39 years old) are significantly higher than older people(over 40ties) in anniversary orientation. The higher life satisfaction, perceived social support, relatedness, interpersonal sensitivity, and materialism are, the higher anniversary orientation is. Lastly, middle and high anniversary orientation groups showed more meal frequency at the anniversary day than low anniversary orientation group.

This study is to develop a hierarchic clustering model fur document classification and browsing in OPAC systems. Two automatic indexing techniques (with and without controlled terms), two term weighting methods (based on term frequency and binary weight), five similarity coefficients (Dice, Jaccard, Pearson, Cosine, and Squared Euclidean). and three hierarchic clustering algorithms (Between Average Linkage, Within Average Linkage, and Complete Linkage method) were tested on the document collection of 175 books and theses on library and information science. The best document clusters resulted from the Between Average Linkage or Complete Linkage method with Jaccard or Dice coefficient on the automatic indexing with controlled terms in binary vector. The clusters from Between Average Linkage with Jaccard has more likely decimal classification structure.

The appearance of Web has brought an substantial revolution to all fields of society such knowledge management and business transaction as well as traditional information retrieval. In this paper, we propose an EFASIT(Extended Fuzzy AHP and SImilarity Technology) model considering the emotion analysis. And we combine the Extended Fuzzy AHP Method(EFAM) with SImilarity Technology(SIT) based on the domain corpus information in order to efficiently retrieve the document on the Web. The proposed the EFASIT model can generate the more definite rule according to integration of fuzzy knowledge of various decision-maker, and can give a help to decision-making, and confirms through the experiment.

This article analyzes the record structure, content designation, and the content of UNIMARC, USMARC, and KORMARC formats for authorities, through the comparative investigation, Structure and content designation are almost same with those of the bibliographic formats, being based on those of ISO 2709. The data fields of USMARC and KORMARC are divided into blocks based on the traditional authority card formats, and those of UNIMARC are divided into functional blocks based on the GARE. Record contents of the formers in the fixed-length fields include more elements on the selectioa status and scope of the heading, and those related to the series. And those of the later include more elements for the international exchange. Based on the analysis of the variable fields, it is recommended that KORMARC should include an additional subfield, say $(\blacktriangledown\;j)$ for the processing of the Hanja(Chinese character) data and add the separate classification fields for series.

It is useful to find something valuable for researching through literature based discovery. Swanson's ABC model, known as literature based discovery, suggests the relationship between entities undiscovered yet. This study tries to find the valid relationship between entities by referring to citation which connects articles on similar topic. We collect citation from references in articles, and extract important concepts in titles and abstracts through text mining techniques. We reproduce the relationship between fish oil and Raynaud's disease, which is known as one of Swanson's works, and compare the results with entities identified from traditional approach.

This paper proposes on the acoustic signal processing blocking method of Internet pornographicl sites by calculating correlation values between prototype acoustic signals and input acoustic signals. Pre-existing blocking methods mainly focused on directory-based bled(fin and pornographic related words-based blocking. But these methods are not completely blocked the Internet harmful pornographicl sites by several situations. For this, this paper proposes the content-based blocking method which composes of the image-based blocking and the acoustic-based blocking. This paper, mainly, deals with the acoustic -based blocking method. Finally, the effectiveness of this system is demonstrated by several experiments.

1. 저자가 1957년 5월부터 1958년 9월까지 남한 10개지역 즉 광릉(경기도), 네주도, 오대산(강원도), 울릉도, 강화도, 작약도(경기도), 주안(경기도 ), 이리(전북), 홍릉(서울), 남한산성(경기도)에서 복숭아, 사과등의 과실 Trap 방법과Sweeping 법으로 채집한 초파리는 4 속, 7 아문, 44종 2198 마리였다. 2. 급번채집에서 얻은 한국산미기록종은 D.(H.) trivittata Strobl Mycodrosophila splendida okada, D.(S.) auraria Peng(Type C)의 3 종이며 미지 10 종은 현재 검색중이거니와 그 결과는 멀지않아 발표할 예정이다. 3. 울릉도채집은 1958년 8월 1일부터 13일까지에 이루어졌으며 채집지는 도동, 사동, 천부, 대무, 남양 난봉, 성인봉이며 그 결과 채집된 22종은 울릉도산동물목록에 새로이 부가하는 바이다.
