Organic pollution is one of the most common forms of water contamination. Under the Water Quality Conservation Act, indicators for measuring organic substances include BOD, COD, and TOC. Analysis of BOD and COD is labor-intensive, and in the case of organic substances where biological decomposition is not feasible or toxic substances are present, the accuracy is often low. Therefore, the Ministry of Environment is shifting towards TOC-centric management. With advancements in sensor technology today, various parameters can be monitored using sensors. In this study, digital monitoring of river TOC using a spectrophotometer called Spectro::lyser V3 was conducted. Initially, experiments were carried out at the Andong River Experiment Center to assess the applicability of the measurement equipment. Subsequently, data collected at the confluence of the Nakdong River was analyzed for the spatial distribution of TOC using the Kriging technique. This research proposes the utilization of sensors for river TOC monitoring and spatial distribution analysis. Real-time monitoring of changes in river TOC concentration can serve as fundamental data for pollution monitoring and response. Sensor-based river monitoring offers advantages in terms of temporal resolution and real-time data acquisition. When various spatial information interpretation methods are applied, it is expected to contribute to diverse studies such as aquatic ecological health, river water source selection, and stratification analysis in the future.

Maritime transport accounts for 99.7% of the exports and imports of the Republic of Korea; therefore, developing a vessel monitoring system for efficient operation is of significant interest. Several studies have focused on tracking and monitoring vessel movements based on automatic identification system (AIS) data; however, ships without AIS have limited monitoring and tracking ability. High-resolution optical satellite images can provide the missing layer of information in AIS-based monitoring systems because they can identify non-AIS vessels and small ships over a wide range. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate vessel monitoring and small vessel classification systems using high-resolution optical satellite images. This study examined the possibility of developing ship monitoring systems using Compact Advanced Satellite 500-1 (CAS500-1) satellite images by first training a deep learning model using satellite image data and then performing detection in other images. To determine the effectiveness of the proposed method, the learning data was acquired from ships in the Yellow Sea and its major ports, and the detection model was established using the You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm. The ship detection performance was evaluated for a domestic and an international port. The results obtained using the detection model in ships in the anchorage and berth areas were compared with the ship classification information obtained using AIS, and an accuracy of 85.5% and 70% was achieved using domestic and international classification models, respectively. The results indicate that high-resolution satellite images can be used in mooring ships for vessel monitoring. The developed approach can potentially be used in vessel tracking and monitoring systems at major ports around the world if the accuracy of the detection model is improved through continuous learning data construction.

The purpose of hull stress monitoring system(HSMS) is to lead hull structure to be safer at lower cost. We proposed a hull stress monitoring system for leisure boats using fiber-optic bragg grating(FBG) strain sensor. Fiber optic sensors are well suited for structure monitoring system, due to their ability to withstand harsh environments, immunity to electromagnetic interference, and reduce cabling installation cost when employing wavelength multiplexing. This paper presents an overview of current research and design of hull stress monitoring system for leisure boats.
The Web-based instruction on the internet provides lots of learners with the related information and knowledge beyond time and space. But in the Web-based instruction, there is a problem that the teaming process statuses for learners can be known only through an exam. This paper introduces a web monitoring method to check whether the learner has some problems in learning process and to be able to find out the students with the problems. In the method this paper proposes a learning time prediction model for predicting the proper next study time intervals based on the learner`s learning times and grades on Previous learning units. This method provides the educator with the learning Process statuses for learners. The Loaming prediction model for web-based monitoring can be used to stimulate learners to take the good teaming processes by sending automatically alerting messages if their real teaming times exceeds on his predicted learning time interval. The results of the estimation through case study on the web-based monitoring to use the teaming time prediction model show that most of on-line learners with Poor teaming process statuses get poor grades. In addition, the results show that learner`s poor habits keep going on without change.

Korea has a large number of landslides due to localized torrential downpours and typhoons in summer, causing great human damage and economic losses. In particular, most roads in the Gangwon area are located in mountains, making them expose to a great risk of landslide. Therefore, it is urgent to prepare countermeasures to prevent these landslides. Necessary for that are various slope investigation and high-tech observation techniques for slope maintenance. Recently there have been slope observation techniques using optical fiber sensors, GPS, CCD cameras, Total Station and satellite images; however, these are not used much due to poor economic feasibility, low accuracy and efficiency. This study evaluated accuracy of displacement extraction of model slopes using terrestrial LiDAR to determine its application to landslide monitoring. As a result, it can measure several mm of minute displacement with high accuracy and help to rapidly obtain geographical features of slope.

In recent, hospital information systems are widely used to electronically record, manage and share the data collected in hospitals. Such systems have contributed greatly to improving the work efficiency in modern hospitals, however, the collected data concerning the patients should be appropriately processed and reused to provide the healthcare service providers with decision supports. Especially, this paper proposes the patient flow monitoring system for the operations management of the outpatient department for patients with chronic diseases, and discusses the related issues. The proposed system visualizes the standard process model extracted from the patient history data and various performance measures, and this enables the managers to evaluate and enhance the operations of the outpatient clinic. In this paper, the patient flow monitoring system is applied to the rheumatology clinic, and the prototype system optimized for I-pad is illustrated.

Neural networks are shown to be effective in being able to distinguish incomplete penetration-like weld defects by directly analyzing the plasma which is generated on each impingement of the laser on the materials. The performance is similar to that of existing methods based on extracted feature parameters. In each case around 93% of the defects in a database derived from 100 artificially produced defects of known types can be placed into one of two classes: incomplete penetration and bubbling. The present method based on classification using plasma is faster, and the speed is sufficient to allow on-line classification during data collection.
