  • On the new medical system separating the prescription and dispensing of the drug, the qualification of pharmacist in substitution of prescribed medicine was restricted, except bioequivalence-certified drugs. Also, Korean Food and Drug Association(KFDA) revised the bioequivalence regulation on August, 2001 Among many changes from old guideline, impressive one is the statistical consideration. Specially, to estimate and analyze bioequivalence measures, AUC and $C_{max}$, the log-transformed model is recommended and the equivalence interval is modified from $\pm$20 rule to [In(0.8),In(1.25)] one. This meaningful act is very hope-for because it is statistically reasonable and is agreed with worldwide bioequivalence guideline, including USA, EU, Japan and Canada. In this paper, we introduce the new regulation of assessing bioequivalence, announced at August, 2001, mainly on statistical view points. Key points for the new regulation are discussed and the minimum sample size based on simulation studies are proposed.

  • Software change is an essential operation for software evolution. To maintain the system competently, managers as well as developers must be able to understand the structure of the system but the structure of software is hidden to the developers and managers who need to change it. In this paper, we present a system (OntCIA) for supporting change impact analysis for rating and billing domain based on the semantic web technology. The basic idea of OntCIA is to build a domain knowledge base using an OWL ontology and RDF to implement change impact analysis system that would support the managers and software developers in finding out information about structure of large software system. OntCIA allows users to incrementally build an ontology in rating and billing domain and provides useful information in response to user queries concerning the code, such as, for example 'Find the modules which have a role for confirming new subscription'. The strengths of OntCIA are its architecture for easy maintenance as well as semantic indexing by automatic reasoning.

  • In this paper, we present a content-dependent authorization mechanism for object-oriented database systems. So far, several models of authorization for object-oriented databases have been proposed, but most of these models do not support the authorization based on the database content. This paper shows how the traditional content-independent authorization model can be extended to provide the content-dependent authorization using predicates on the values of attributes of a class. The proposed model makes it possible to group objects that satisfy the specified conditions on the values of the objects and to grant a single authorization on those objects. This model supports the negative authorization and provides the concept of the strong and weak authorization to resolve conflicts between positive and negative authorizations. In addition, we address and resolve some of the problems that arise when the predicates are associated with the authorization. In particular, since the authorization operations of the traditional content- independent model become inadequate for our mode, we redefine the semantics of the authorization operations.

  • Semantic web ontologies can be viewed as logic-based domain-oriented contents which allow distributed and heterogeneous information to be semantically integrated, automatically circulated, and enable implicit knowledge to be reasoned. This paper describes the 'Science and Technology Research Area' ontology which is being developed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI). This ontology was defined to assist actual researchers and project planners to grasp the researchers community from a variety of viewpoints. We describe classes and properties as ontology components and exemplify the representation of real instances in the ontology. In order to represent the identities of real world instances within the ontology, the above ontology employs both class-dependent URI assignment schemes and the identity resolution methods.

  • IoT means things space networks that form the intelligent relationship such as sensing, networking, information processing about human being, things and service without explicit mutual cooperation of human being. Lately many IoT groups such as AllSeen Alliance, OIC launched a platform for IoT. Self-adaptive is aimed at implementation without the need for decisions of human being during the operation, so that the machine can respond to changes in its own determination. There is a need to apply the concept of self-adaptive to existing IoT and IoT platform. So In this paper, We look for trends of existing IoT, IoT platform and comparisons by applying a self-adaptive concept to IoT, IoT platform. In addition as an example of this paper, we suggest lacking self-adaptive elements to OIC.

  • Despite their importance in language, there have been relatively few computational studies in understanding words. This paper describes how neural networks can learn to perceive and produce words. Most traditional linguistic theories presuppose abstract underlying representations (UR) and a set of explicit rules to obtain the surface realization. There are, however, a number of questions that can be raised regarding this approach: (1) assumption of URs, (2) formation of rules, and (3) interaction of rules. In this paper, it is hypothesized that rules would emerge as the generalizations the network abstracts in the process of learning to associate forms with meanings of the words. Employing a simple recurrent network, a series of simulations on different types of morphophonemic processes was run. The results of the simulations show that this network is capable of learning to perceive whether words are in basic from or in inflected form, given only forms, and to produce words in the right form, given arbitrary meanings, this eliminating the need for presupposing abstract URs and rules.

  • Districting is a spatial decision making process to make a new regional framework for affecting human activities. Natural barriers such as rivers and mountains located within a reorganized district may reduce the efficiency of reorganized human activities. This implies that it is necessary to consider boundary characteristics in a districting process. The purpose of this research is to develop a new spatial optimization model based on boundary characteristics for districting problems. The boundary characteristics are evaluated as continuous value expressing the possibility of combining adjacent two basic spatial units rather than a dichotomous value with 1 or 0 and are defined as an objective function in the model. In addition, the model has explicitly formulated contiguity constraints as well as constraints enforcing demand balance among districts such as population and area. The boundary attributes are categorized into physical and relational characteristics. Suitability analysis is used to combine various variables related to each boundary characteristic and to evaluate the coupling possibility between two neighboring basic units. The model is applied to an administrative redistricting problem. The analytical results demonstrate that various boundary characteristics could be modeled in terms of mixed integer programming (MIP).

  • The aim of the study is to explore some problems that we have to solve to execute assessments effectively and in agreement with the objectives of them. We analysed the practices of some assessments Including our national assessment of educational achievement and the third international mathematics and science study with focussing on the frames of assessments, the analyses of results, and the items presented in the assessments. The results of the study are the following. Firstly, we need to make the frame of assessment to agree with the objectives of assessment and to reflect the characteristics of the item related to a few areas. Secondly, we need to analyse the results of assessment with reflecting the frames of assessment. Thirdly, we need to discuss more concretely on the level and presentation of items including the order of conditions to need to solve the items. And lastly, we need to minimize the difference caused by the variations of translation in the international assessments.

  • This study was to propose new formats for the records of achievement and the student's school life. For the college entrance examination to select excellent students with great potential and for the public education to be normalized through performance assessment, the implications of the reformats of the student achievement are significant. To carry out the study, 658 of students, 230 of teachers from 4 middle schools and 10 high schools, and 24 of college admission officers from 8 universities participated in the questionaries that asked the problems of the current assessment system and the future directions based on the desirable reformats of the school records. The collected opinions and advices from the participants were considered to understand the current status, possible directions, and ways to apply the performance assessment to the college entrance examination.

  • This study investigated the representation and algorithms of western mathematics reflected on the algebra domains of Chosun-Sanhak in the 18th century. I also analyzed the co-occurrences and replacement phenomenon between western algorithms and traditional algorithms. For this purpose, I analyzed nine Chosun mathematics books in the 18th century, including Gusuryak and Gosasibijip. The results of this study are as follows. First, I identified the process of changing to a calculation by writing of western mathematics, from traditional four arithmetical operations using Sandae and the formalized explanation for the proportional concept and proportional expression. Second, I observed the gradual formalization of mathematical representation of the solution for a simultaneous linear equation. Lastly, I identified the change of the solution for square root from traditional Gaebangsul and Jeungseunggaebangbeop to a calculation by the writing of western mathematics.
