Analysis of Static Crack Growth in Asphalt Concrete using the Extended Finite Element Method (확장유한요소법을 이용한 아스팔트의 정적균열 성장 분석)

  • This paper studies static crack growth of asphalt pavement using the extended finite element method (XFEM). To consider nonlinear characteristics of asphalt concrete, a viscoelastic constitutive equation using the Maxwell chain is used. And a linear cohesive crack model is used to regularize the crack. Instead of constructing the viscoelastic constitutive law from the Prony approximation of compliance and retardation time measured experimentally, we use a smooth log-power function which optimally fits experimental data and is infinitely differentiable. The partial moduli of the Maxwell chain from the log-power function make analysis easy because they change more smoothly in a more stable way than the ordinary method such as the least square method. Using the developed method, we can simulates the static crack growth test results satisfactorily.

  • 해외도입붐-. 그 물결을 타고 많은 외국기업들이 상륙했다. 크게는 자동차의 GM과 Ford, 석유의 걸프와 칼텍스등 이른바 $\ulcorner$세계기업 $\lrcorner$으로 불리우는 거상에서 가까운 일본의 이름 없는 중소기업에 이르기까지 다양하다. 이들은 해외시장개척과 현지생산의 메릿트를 찾아 줄이어 밀려닥치고 있다. 식품산업이라고 예외는 아니다. 기술제휴로 진출한 코카콜라와 펩시콜라가 시장쟁탈전을 벌이고 있고 맥스웰$\cdot$하우스$\cdot$커피의 제네럴$\cdot$푸우드(GF)도 합작투자로 상륙, 자리를 굳혔다. 이제 외국기업이라해서 아주 우리의 관심밖일 수는 없게 된 것이다. 여기 해외진출전략을 중심으로 세계식품메이커의 최근 동향을 알아본다.

  • Dry etcher, PECVD등의 플라즈마 공정 장비의 구조물에는 유전체로 절연된 금속판들이 사용된다. 플라즈마 이론을 보면 이들 표면의 전위는 양전하 플럭스와 음전하 플럭스가 같아서 순전류가 0이 되는 부유 전위를 갖는다. 금속과 같은 전도체의 표면은 모두 같은 전위를 가져야 한다. 일반적인 플라즈마 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어에는 이런 경계 조건이 선택 가능하지 않다. ESI사의 CFD-ACE+의 사용자 루틴 개발 기능을 이용하여 Fortran90문법으로 경계면 최인접 셀의 중심에서 구한 전자 온도와 경계면의 이온 입사 플럭스로 가중평균을 구한 이온 질량을 맥스웰분포를 가정한 부유 전위식에 대입하여 시뮬레이션을 CCP에서 구현하였다. 원형 챔버의 가장자리에 떠 있는 사각 링 전극을 가정하고 이 전극 표면이 접지 전위일때, 유전체 일때, 본 연구에서 개발한 루틴을 적용한 결과를 Ar CCP에 대해서 비교 분석하였다.

  • Electrostriction is the phenomenon that a material is strained due to Maxwell stress developed by the applied voltage. In many electrostrictive materials, especially polymeric elastomers can produce large deformation and force due to their low elastic modulus. In this study, polyurethanes and acrylic rubber with compliant electrodes were used as electrostrictive polymer(EP) actuator. Actuation characteristics of the EP actuators with different physical properties of dynamic modulus and dynamic dielectiric constant were analyzed under AC field. The classical laminate theory was also used to simulate the actuation process in relation to the geometry and the physical properties of the actuators.

  • The fuel pump, which is used for an aircraft, was first developed in Korea through the Civil-Military Dual Components Development Program. The BLDC motor type, which is superior to the DC brush motor when considering efficiency, endurance, and explosive environmental characteristics, was applied to the fuel pump given its capacity and operating condition. The magnetic flux of the permanent magnet was analyzed based on the magnet flux density equation, using the Maxwell equation and the environmental condition. The motor performance, according to the load, was analyzed using the finite element method in order to design validation. The motor assembly was developed by designing the motor drive and the EMI filters. The performance test results of the motor assembly for the fuel boost pump were consistent with the analysis.

Numerical Investigation of Flows around Space Launch Vehicles at Mid-High Altitudes (중/고고도 영역에서의 우주발사체 주위 유동에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • In the present study, to investigate flows around space launch vehicles at mid-high altitudes efficiently, a three-dimensional unstructured mesh Navier-Stokes solver employing a Maxwell slip boundary condition was developed. Validation of the present flow solver was made for a blunted cone-tip configuration by comparing the results with those of the DSMC simulation and experiment. It was found that the present flow solver works well by capturing the velocity slip and the temperature jump on the solid surface more efficiently than the DSMC simulation. Flow simulations of space launch vehicles were conducted by using the flow solver. Mach number of 6 at the mid-high altitude around 86km was considered, and the flow phenomena at the mid-high altitude was discussed.

  • In this paper, plasma modeling is achieved using fluid dynamics, thereby electron density is derived. The way proposes the key to overcoming the limitations of conventional researches which adopt simplified plasma model. The result is coupled with Maxwell-Boltzmann system in order to calculate scattering waves in various incident angle. The first part is dedicated to perform plasma modeling in dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) structure. Suzen-Huang model is adopted among various models due to the fact that it uses time independent variables to calculated potential and electron distribution in static system. The second part deals with finite difference time domain(FDTD) scheme which computes the scattered waves when the modulated Gaussian pulse is incident. Founded on it, radar cross section(RCS) is observed. Consequently, RCS is decreased by 1~2 dB with DBD plasma. The result is analogous to the RCS measurement in other researches.

  • Interpretation of time-domain electromagnetic (TEM) data has been made mostly based on one-dimensional (1-D) inversion scheme in Korea. A proper interpretation of TEM data should employ 3-D TEM forward and inverse modeling algorithms. This study developed a 3-D TEM modeling algorithm using a finite difference time-domain (FDTD) method with staggered grid. In numerically solving Maxwell equations, fictitious displacement current is included based on an explicit FDTD method using a central difference approximation scheme. The developed modeling algorithm simulated a small-coil source configuration to be verified against analytic solutions for homogeneous half-space models. Further, TEM responses for a 3-D anomaly are modeled and analyzed. We expect that it will contribute greatly to the precise interpretation of TEM data.

  • AVO and complex trace analyses mainly used to characterize natural gas reservoir were tested in this paper for a possible application to detection of major geological discontinuities such as fracture zones. The test data used in this study were calculated by utilizing a viscoelastic numerical program which was based on the generalized Maxwell body for a horizontal fracture model. In AVO analysis of a horizontal fracture zone, p-wave reflection appears to be variant depending upon the acoustic-impedence contrast and the offset distance. The fracture zone is also effectively clarified both in gradient stack and range-limited stack in which fracture zone reflection is attenuated with the increasing offset distance. In complex attribute plots (instantaneous amplitude, frequency, and phase), the top and bottom of the fracture Tone are characterized by a zone of strong amplitudes and an event of the same phase. Low frequency characteristics appear at the fracture zone and the underneath. Amplitude attenuation and waveform dispersion are dependent on Q-contrast between the fracture zone and the surrounding media. They were properly compensated by optimum inverse Q-filtering.
