The National Assembly and its institutions have heavy duties to the nation. Knowledge and information resources which they produce, manage and preserve are part of history and evidence of democracy. Therefore, activities for systematic management and long-term preservation of the resources are important tasks at a national level. However, organizational status of the institutions, which are in charge of management and preservation of the resource, are not in accord with their responsibilities. In this context, this study aims at analyzing necessary and sufficient conditions for establishing the National Assembly Larchiveum and at exploring possible strategies. The study conducts literature reviews concerning necessities, procedures, and success factors of collaboration. Futhermore it analyzes various cases and divides them into several types based on collaborative levels and geographical categories. Based on these theoretical discourse the study discuss the history of the National Assembly's memory institutions and obstacles to their collaboration. As a result, it provides alternative strategies for establishing the National Assembly Larchiveum.

With industrial restructuring and growing competition among places throughout the world, many countries including Korea are getting highly dependent on place marketing as their development strategy. Previous discussions on place marketing strategy maintain that the strategy should be performed on the basis of the unique placeness of each place. Not all places, however, have placeness that can be used for the place marketing strategy. Also, there are some cases of success in place marketing by introducing elements irrelevant to the places. In this context, this study aims to analyze previous debates on place and place marketing, and to investigate the possibility of creating placeness. In addition, it selected as case places the city of Ashland and the city of Jacksonville in the state of Oregon, USA and Tongyeong-si in Korea and examined how the art festivals, one of major means of place marketing, can be used in creating placeness.

In a qualitative approach, this study investigated users' perceptions associated with their satisfactions in the process of using the scholarly resource search functions of the academic version of the NAVER search engine. For this study, the data was collected from a group of undergraduate students, who conducted academic information searches in the field of own major disciplinary areas, using the Web portal. Based on the data, students' satisfactions and dissatisfactions along with the reasons of their perceptions were analyzed. The results presented users' perceptions in various evaluation criteria based on the three major domains: system interfaces, retrieval mechanisms and search results. Based on the results, the study proposed the following suggestions: 1) the enhancements of the system interfaces and HELP guidances based the limited user knowledge on basic system terminologies 2) the improvements of the retrieval mechanisms associated with understanding the contexts of the search terms presented by users 3) the necessity of the user education due to the insufficient user knowledge of the retrieval mechanisms and the search functions.

This study discussed the major notion of backward design placing emphasis on performance and evaluation, and clarified the concepts of 'understanding' and 'enduring understanding' based on the literature of Wiggins and McTighe and previous studies. This study also developed a sample curriculum module for a consumer unit for 7 class hours based on the 'Understanding by Design' template. This study concluded that backward design can contribute to achieving student's high performance from evaluation planning prior to actual instruction, to utilizing learning with higher order thinking and skills by analyzing key concepts, and to reconstructing curriculum contents considering a teacher's perspective, students' needs, and each school's situation and context.

This study examined the nature and directions of dietary life education (DLE) in school education. The major interest and contexts of this study is to reveal the functions and communication ways of DLE in the children and youths' educational systems including: a. meaning of eating in human life, meaning of DLE, and meaning and responsibilities of school education, b. re-defining school DLE in terms of social changes and learners' developmental characteristics and comparing with FSE parts in the existing curricular such as the Practical Arts Education and Home Economics Education, c. what should be taught in DLE with orientation, structures, elements, educational philosophy and backgrounds, and instructional techniques of DLE, and d. effective strategic plans for DLE by suggesting the New DLE's paradigms and educational aims, programs in the curriculum, reinforcement of teacher education for the elementary school teachers and home economic educational teachers, school facilities expansions, diverse program, materials and networking development.

This study explored parental mediation strategies of children's online gaming and their relevant variables which could influence on them. A survey to 379 parents with elementary, middle, highschool, and college aged children revealed 7 distinctive parental mediation strategies of children's online gaming, that is, 'instructive', 'co-playing', 'rule-based', 'restrictive', 'technological', 'government regulation-dependent', and 'active guidance' mediation. Also, the results showed that there was significant relation between the parental mediation strategies, characteristics of parents, and characteristics of children. This study holds its significance in identifying the parental mediation types reflecting media characteristics of online games and Korean social and cultural context.

The purpose of this study was to explore the academic achievements, learning attitudes, and career compromising processes for successful undergraduate students in the College of Engineering. To achieve this goal, research was conducted to analyze whether there was a strong major-career connection among Engineering students of Seoul National University. Afterwards, differences in levels of academic achievement, learning attitude, and academic aspiration were analyzed between students who had achieved a major-career match and students who had not. As a result, it was found that the level of major-career connection was highly correlated to the level of academic achievement; furthermore, learning attitudes were strongly related to the level of motivation towards a high academic achievement, and influenced future learning attitudes as well. These findings suggest that further academic support, career guidance, and major switching policies are needed for undergraduate students in Colleges of Engineering.

The purpose of this study was to gain insights into investigating the feasibility on integrating computational thinking(CT) into school mathematics. Definitions and the components of CT were varied among studies. In this study, CT in mathematics was focused on thinking related with mathematical problem solving under ICT supportive environment where computing tools are available to students to solve problems and verify their answers. The focus is not given on the computing environment itself but on CT in mathematics education. For integrating CT into mathematical problem solving, providing computing environment, understanding of tools and supportive curriculum revisions for integration are essential. Coding with language specially developed for mathematics education such as LOGO, and solving realistic mathematical problems using S/W such as Excel in mathematics classrooms, or integrating CT into math under STEAM contexts are suggested for integration CT into math education. Several conditions for the integration were discussed in this paper.

It is an important to develop teachers' statistical reasoning or thinking by teacher education. In this study, the "comparing two data sets" tasks is focused as a way to develop pre-service elementary teachers' reasoning about core ideas of statistics such as distribution, variability, center, and spread. 6 teams of each 4 pre-service elementary teachers participated on the tasks and their presentations are analyzed based on Pfannkuch's (2006) teachers' inference model in comparing two data sets. As a result, they paid attention to the distribution and variability in the statistical problem solving by the "comparing two data sets" tasks, and used their contextual knowledge to make a statistical decision. In addition, they used some statistics and graphs as the reference for statistical communication, which is expected to provide implications for improving statistical education. The finding implies that the "comparing two data sets" tasks can be used to develop statistical reasoning of pre-service elementary teachers. Some recommendations are suggested for teacher education by these tasks.
