  • Simulacra theory as propounded by Jean Baudrillard in his seminal treatise, "Simulacra and Simulation," explores the significance of images, media and art in contemporary culture. Its central theoretical premise is the simulacrum, a sign or symbol that plays a crucial role in constructing perceived reality but which lacks a real-world referent. In Michel Gondry creates simulacra in the form of hallucinatory dream imagery by combining stop-motion animation and live-action elements. As experimental film-making that combines analog and minimum digital technologies, the result is a tour-de-force of synchronization. This study analyzes the film's technique and expressive content and, by adopting simulacra theory as a conceptual framework, aims to provide a better understanding of Gondry's work.

  • Graphic design plays an important role in contemporary culture. The chief social function of design is to create a visual identity. This essay focuses on the development of American graphic design and the embodiment of national identity in the twentieth century. The first chapter looks at the brief history of American graphic design. And the following chapter analyzes the example of those designers who have most obviously contributed to embodying identity in the United States. At the beginning of the twentieth century American modern design began with strong European roots. American designers added new forms and concepts to the tradition of graphic design. And their original approach to modern design gained international prominence. American design was pragmatic, intuitive, and more informal in its approach. The purpose of this essay is to inquire into the identity of American graphic design in a chronological survey.

  • Without the involvement of time in animation, it cannot be possible to create movement. Therefore, tine is the important element to create animation. In animation, the expression of the emotion of character is more complicate than the appearance. Time is one of element to use for express of the emotion. It can be divided two types of time as the real time and the animation time broadly. The real time has linear, irreversible and analogue form which is in our daily life. And the animation time has multi-direction, reversible, and digital form which can be detected in the movie. For the animation time, there are many types of time that are the running time, the production time, the subjective time, the objective time, the ambiguous time and the universal time etc. This study is to extend and enrich the express as film language through various types of times in animation. Time is one of important element that can be useful method for expressing many unique scenes in film art as film language.

  • Architectural drawing has been changing from the general notion, in which it is to predict what it may be like for purely practical purpose. Particularly amongst the Deconstructivists' work, graphic elements make a great contribution to the realization of their self expressive style. Whereas these are often chosen for solely aesthetic reasons, there are some cases in which the act of drawing itself is a crucial, investigative process. This is true of Daniel Libeskind's architectural drawing. For him, Typography seems to be characteristic of his drawing. He Harness typographic elements as metaphors for hid abstract symbolism through his architectural drawings, which retain the possibility to relate to the more radical typographic approaches. Within this context, this thesis will argue how the typographic elements in Daniel Libeskind's architectural drawings can be interpreted. What interconnection can be made between the two practices\ulcorner How can these elements be incorporated into architecture\ulcorner Can they be involved in it as a main constituent\ulcorner This thesis explores diverse possibilities of interpretation of his architectural drawing through typological approaches to the cases where type itself meets the different media and signific ation is given to the other typographic elements.

  • In contemporary art, the process of appreciating art works requires the dichotomy between traditional art and New Media Art. This difference can be witnessed in the contrasting ways of appreciating art works; in traditional art, a certain physical and esthetic distance is placed between viewers and works of art, and in New Media Art, art is appreciated by active involvement and communication. In other words, this disparity is based on whether viewers physically involve themselves in the completion of the art works. Perhaps contemporary art can be better understood and appreciated if a single primary keyword takes the center place of art appreciation rather than allowing the dichotomy. Thus, a new approach is welcome, where art appreciation is not adversely affected through such divided means based on the degree of active participation. This is not some new introduction of jargon but the reinterpretation of contemplation, the key word for art appreciation in the past, as the common key word for both conventional art and New Media Art.

Then we can realize advanced in the quality of contents and technology. There are getting various kind of audio-visual teaching method. Then how do the puppet shows approach with what viewpoint? You may find them in the education for the Kids and the Handicapped. You will understand that will be able to attend with a role of a Educational medium as(a method of)medical treatment. On the point of view, I am about to study how to shape into the puppet shows as a traditional medium. And what will be expected much more influenced when accepts principles of Esthetics of an Image? I expect to purify emotion by Puppet shows to the Moderns who are live in the rapidly changing period situation. I would like to observe about making process of Puppet-show with application of the image language.

  • In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, design has developed into a fusion of diversified culture and media. The integration of traditional culture and brand design concepts has become a hot research topic. Chinese Zen thought integrates the thoughts of Laozi and Zhuangzi, and takes" Wu Xiang as the appearance, Wu Nian as the foundation, Wu Zhu as the purpose" as the main purpose to construct a unique Zen thought system that integrates Taoism, Confucian philosophy and aesthetics. From this point of view, the MUJI design that combines Chinese Zen thought and design has attracted much attention. As a traditional culture, how is Chinese Zen Thought reflected in the design of MUJI? Starting from the awareness of this question, this study takes the daily necessities of MUJI as an example to investigate the design features of MUJI that reflect Chinese Zen thought. The conclusion shows that the design features of MUJI with Chinese Zen thoughts are showed in four ways-minimalist style, unitary color, ecological material, and humanized experience.

  • Development of sensing technology and progress of digital media have been creating new art genre named interactive media art. digital mirror working based on convergence between computer vision technology and video art, is expressing reconstituted spectator's visual image through various mediums. From this aesthetical point and high accessibility towards spectators, many types of digital mirrors have been introducing. However, the majority of digital mirrors express visual images unrelated to degree of spectator's participation and this caused obstruction to spectator's continuous participation and interaction. This paper proposes digital mirror operated by spectator's movements read through particle system synchronized with motion detection algorithm based on analyzing image difference. This work extracted the data of spectator's movement by image processing and designed particle system changed by this data. And it expressed reconstructed spectator's image.

  • Experimental animation is an independent art animation and a visual art that is integrated with the spirit of experimentation. Norman McLaren pursues original beauty in each piece through scientific exploration of visual expression technology and experiment that transcends common sense with great creativity and sensitivity, and the aesthetic value of animation is very high as the master of experimental animation that has brought innovation of real image media today. Therefore, it is meaningful to analyze the experimental expressions of Norman McLaren, who expanded the field of experimental animation by challenging various techniques and carried out a ceaseless search for motion creation between each frame, and to study the expressions of movement he focused on. The most significant feature of his movement expression was analyzed as repetition of motion and repetition of metamorphosis. I hope that this derivation will be understood as experimental animation of experimental method which requires more specific type of inquiry than simple question about experimental method. Also, I hope that it will be meaningful as a preliminary study to deeply explore the possibility and direction of animation creation in university education.
