Soybean seed injury was analyzed in the experiments in which the bean bug, Riptortus pedestris(Hemiptera: Alydidae), was released into screen-caged pots containing full seed stage(R6) of soybean. When the different stages of insects, from the 3rd instar nymphs to adults, were released into pots during 8 days in soybean R6 stage, soybean seeds with injury marks (B-type seeds) increased. The weight reduction ratio in B-type seeds was highest in the injury by the 5th instar nymphs, while the daily-produced number ratio of B-type seeds was small in the treatment. In the injury by the different number of adult released into pots, 4, 8, 16 adults caused a significant increase of B-type seeds, while 16 adults caused the significant increase of the deformed (C-type) seeds. In the injury by the different release period of adults, the total number of pods was not significantly different among treatments, while the total seed number harvested was significantly small in the release for 48 days. The release for 8 and 16 days caused a significant increase of B-type seeds, while the release for 48 days caused the increase of C-type seeds. The results indicated that injury of soybean R6 stage by the bean bug produced soybean seeds with distinct injury marks at relatively low density and during short term attack period, while it produced deformed seeds at high density and during long attack period.

This study was conducted to determine the relationship of larval density of tobacco cutworm, Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) to damage in greenhouse sweet pepper. Laboratory experiments, cage experiments by artificial release and field investigation were carried out in 2008. The leaf consumption rate increased greatly with larval development. The damaged leaves had several round or oval shape holes on the surface or lost certain parts of them, and the fruit damaged had a conspicuous hole on the surface or scar marks around the calyx. In the field investigation, fruit damage was highly correlated with larval densities and reached 3.5% damage at maximum. Cage experiments showed that numbers of non-marketable fruit increased as increasing larval densities released. The larval density at two weeks before harvest had a high relationship with the percentage of damaged-fruit at harvest. Corresponding larval density caused 1, 3, 5% of damaged-fruit was 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 larvae per plant, respectively.
Pyrausta panopealis is the major pest in green perilla. The larva weaves a web on the shoot of green perilla and damages. In case of extreme, The larva cuts the main branch of green perilla and the leaf of green perilla isn't harvested anymore. A field study was conducted to estimate economic injury levels (EILs) and control thresholds (CTs) for P. panopealis injuring green perilla in green-houses. Different densities of P. panopealis ranged from 1 to 20 crops (2 units per crop) per 100 crops on 13. June, early inoculation. The number of injured leaf and the rate of injured crop were increased by 23. June, on the other hand were decreased after that day. Also, the amount of yield sow the same result above. The economic loss time calculated by the ratio of cost managing this moth to market price (C/V) (C: cost managing a moth, V: Market price) was 4.0%. The economic injury level was 5.1 larval per 100 crops. The control thresholds calculated by 80% level of economic injury level was 4.1 larval per 100 crops.

This study was conducted to assess damage to the welsh onion by Acrolepiopsis sapporensis Mastumura (Lepidoptera: Acrolepiidae) during the summer season, and to estimate the economic injury level (EIL) which results, providing basic data for pest management. The adult peaks of A. sapporensis in Suwon were observed in March, April, May, and September of 2009 and 2010 through the use of pheromone traps. The feeding of A. sapporensis results in white lines on the surface, and holes within welsh onions. During the entire larval period, one larva was able to damage 1.6 leaves and punch 11.9 holes, resulting in a total damaged leaf area of $1,321.6mm^2$. Through cage experiments and larval releases, a reduction of the mean number of leaves, increased percentage of leaf damage, and reduction in gross weight and marketable weight were observed. We could obtain a regression equation that showed a clear positive correlation between pest density and percentage of damaged leaf. Using this equation, the EIL of A. sapporensis on welsh onion was calculated to one larva per 10 plants based on 7% leaf damage observed for welsh onion.
Cage plots were established in 2008 to find the relationship between combination of tended Japanese red pine sapling and the habitation of Monochamus alternatus, a vector for pine wood nematode. Japanese red pine sapling tended at different times were successively put into the cage, and then the adult of Monochamus alternatus was put in June. Presence or absence of the larva was determined November. Sapling tendings were done at seven successive times in 2009, mid- and late February and March, mid-April, May and June. Some saplings were also tended in mid-October of 2008, the previous year of this experiment. The larva was found in all the saplings tended later than mid-March in 2009. No larva was found in the saplings tended in mid-October of 2008 and those in February of 2009. In case of the combination the by-products of mid-February and late March of 2009 and mid-October of 2008, the larva was found in the by-product of mid-February and late March of 2009, but those in mid-October of 2008 was not. When the saplings tended in mid-October of 2008 and mid- and late February of 2009 were put into the cage singly, the larva was found in all the saplings. Results indicated the mixture of the saplings tended at different times affected the habitation of Monochamus alternatus differently.
Rearing environment direct effects on oviposition preference of black soldier fly(Hermetia illucens). In this study, the number of egg-filled flutes was surveyed according to the size of adult rearing cages and oviposition media of black soldier fly (BSF). The height of the adult rearing cages were fixed at 2 m and provided different sizes of width and length and released 20,000 BSF adults in the rearing cages. The mean number of BSF egg-filled flutes was 895.4 at $4{\times}4m$ cage, 876.3 at $2{\times}1m$ cage and 62.3 at $1{\times}1m$ cage. Comparison of egg-filled flutes was according to cages material of adult BSF. The mean number of egg-filled flutes were 820.7 and 604.3 at different cage materials such as mosquito net and green house film. The mean numbers of egg-filled flutes were 326.6 in green floral form, 135.2 in green corrugated cardboard and 41.0 in brown corrugated cardboard. And the mean number of egg-filled flutes were similar floral form with the corrugated cardboard was overlapped by floral form such as 57.7 and 64.7. The mean number of egg-filled flutes was 29.0 and 48.2 in 6 mm and 4 mm diameter of oviposition hole.
This research was conducted to determine the effect of interruption layer for capillary rise on the sand based growing media when growing Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) on soil reclamation and saline water irrigation. Growing media profile consists of three layers as top soil of 30 cm, 20 cm of the interruption layer for capillary rise and 10 cm of reclaimed paddy soil. Growing media profile was packed in 30 cm diameter column pots. The top soil was a mixture of sand dredged up from Lake Bhunam Tae Ahn, Korea and peat at the ratio of 95:5 by volume. Bottom part of column was covered with plastic net and the pots were soaked into 5 cm depth saline water reservoir with salinity $3-5\;dS\;m^{-1}$. Kentucky bluegrass was established by sod and irrigated using $2\;dS\;m^{-1}$ saline water ($5.7\;mm\;day^{-1}$) in 3 days interval. The results showed that the largest accumulation of salt in the spring with electrical conductivity in saturated extract (ECe) of $5.4\;dS\;m^{-1}$ and sodium absorption ratio (SAR) 34.0 in growing media without the interruption layer for capillary rise and ECe of $4.6\;dS\;m^{-1}$ and SAR 8.24 at growing media using gravel as the interruption layer for capillary rise material. The interruption layer for capillary rise of gravel and coarse sand reduced the accumulation of Na by 16% and 25%, ECe by 7% and 13% in the growing media. Visual quality of Kentucky bluegrass was higher in growing media with the interruption layer for capillary rise of gravel than no interruption layer by 8.3 compared to 7.9 in rates. The interruption layer for capillary rise of gravel and coarse sand enhanced the visual quality by 4.1 and 4.0%, root length by 50 and 38%, and root dry weight by 35 and 17% of Kentucky bluegrass, and reduced the accumulation of Na by 16% and 25%, ECe by 7% and 13% in the growing media.

In this paper, we propose the dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm for the IEEE802.3ah Ethernet Passive Optical Network(EPON) system to provide the fairness among terminals, and evaluate the delay-throughput performance by simulation. For the conventional EPON systems, an Optical Line Termination (OLT) schedules the upstream bandwidth for each Optical Network Unit (ONU), based on its buffer state. This scheme can provide a fair bandwidth allocation for each ONU. However, it has a critical problem that it does not guarantee the fair bandwidth among terminals which are connected to ONUs. For an example, we assume that the traffic from a greedy terminal increases at a time. Then, the buffer state of its ONU is instantly reported to the OLT, and finally the OW can get more bandwidth. As a result, the less bandwidth is allocated to the other ONUs, and thus the transfer delay of terminals connected to the ONUs gets inevitably increased. Noting that this unfairness problem exists in the conventional EPON systems, we propose a fair bandwidth allocation scheme by OLT with considering the buffer state of ONU as welt as the number of terminals connected it. For the performance evaluation, we develop the EPON simulation model with SIMULA simulation language. From the result of the throughput-delay performance and the dynamics of buffer state along time for each terminal and ONU, respectively, one can see that the proposed scheme can provide the fairness among not ONUs but terminals. Finally, it is worthwhile to note that the proposed scheme for the public EPON systems might be an attractive solution for providing the fairness among subscriber terminals.
The experiment was conducted in 1992 to find out the approach to the development of prediction model of weed population in paddy fields. The weed seeds of 88% over were separated from the soil by using $K_2CO_3$ 50% solution with specific gravity 1.34. The weed seeds which were floated on the solution due to the difference of specific gravity between soil particles and the seeds were effectively withdrawn by using a vaccum pump attached with an aspirator. The seeds withdrawn together with solution were taken by filtering with a nylon net of $0.31{\times}0.16mm$ mesh. The pressing method was more efficient and practical for the viability test of weed seeds separated from the soil compared with the germination test and the TTC test. For the prediction of weed population by the number of weed seedlings emerged at the sampled soil, the sampling method of 0-10cm deep at 5-6 sites per field was applicable. At the prediction method by the number of seedlings emerged, the smaller the seed sizes, the lower the prediction coefficients of weed species. It was considered that the prediction method by the number of seedlings emerged was more practical than the prediction method by the number of seeds separated from sampled soil, in relation to similarities to weed population, time and expenses required for examining, technical difficulties and applicability of weed species.
This study was conducted to investigate the diversity of higher fungi and relationship between higher fungi and climatic factors in Naejangsan National Park from April 2004 to October 2010. The obtained results from investigation were as follows. The higher fungi were classified into 48 families, 158 genera and 451 species in Basidiomycotina, 13 families, 26 genera and 39 species in Ascomycotina, and 4 families, 7 genera and 7 species in Myxomycetes, and most of them belonged to Hymenomycetidae in Basidiomycotina. Dominant species belonged to Ttricholomataceae (72 species), Russulaceae (39 species), Polyporaceae (41 species), Boletaceae (40 species), Cortinariaceae (35 species) and Amamtaceae (28 species). For the habitat environment, the ectomycorrhizal mushrooms were 38.8% (15 families, 36 genera and 193 species), litter decomposing and wood rotting fungi 39.4% (36 families, 107 genera and 196 species), grounding Fungi 19.9% (24 families, 51 genera and 99 species) and others 1.8% (3 families, 4 genera and 9 species). Monthly, most of higher fungi were found in July, August and September, and least found in November. In climatic conditions, most higher fungi were occurred in $23^{\circ}C$and above of mean temperature, $20^{\circ}C$and above of minimum temperature, and $29^{\circ}C$and above of maximum temperature. most of higher fungi were found in 73% and above of relative humidity and 200 mm and above of monthly precipitation. In case of ectomycorrhizal fungi like Amamtaceae, Boletaceae and Cortinariaceae, significance levels are not high in $32^{\circ}C$ and above of maximum temperature which mostly affects species occurrence than other climatic factors of mean and minimum temperature and monthly precipitation.
