Effect of the strain rate on friction factor and flow stress at Al 6061 alloy (Al 6061 합금에서 마찰인자 및 상온 유동응력에 미치는 변형율 속도 영향)

  • 특정한 마찰 또는 윤활조건 하에서 변형율 속도가 마찰인자에 미치는 영향을 관찰하기 위하여, 약 1$\times$$10^{-3}$/sec, 1$\times$$10^{-2}$/sec, 1$\times$$10^{-1}$/sec에 해당되는 3종류의 변형율 속도에서 평활금형, 흑연계윤활제 및 2황화 몰리브덴계 윤활제에 대한 마찰인자를 상온에서 각각 측정하였다. 측정방법으로서는 외경, 내경 및 높이 비가 6 : 3 : 2인 Al 6061 연주재 ring시편을 공칭변형율 65%까지 약 10% 씩 단속적으로 압축한 후 재윤활 하여주는 단속적 상온 압축시험 방법을 적용하였다. 측정결과, 변형율 속도가 증가함에 따라 윤활제를 사용하지 않은 평활금형에서의 마찰인자는 0.25에서 0.31로 증가, 흑연계 윤활제 적용시에는 0.23에서 0.15로 감소하는 경향을 각각 나타내었고, 2황화 몰리브덴계 윤활제 적용시에는 각각의 변형속도에서 측정된 인자는 0.09-0.10 범위 내로써 마찰인자에 미치는 변형율속도 영향이 아주 미미함을 보여주었다. 본 연구 결과에서는 이 측정결과로부터 각각의 변형속도에서 Al 6061 연주재의 원통형 압축시편으로부터 구한 압축측정응력으로부터 상온유동응력을 구하여 상호 비교하고자 하였다.

Evaluation of Frictional Laws through Analyzing a Friction-Sensitive Long-Pipe Shrinking and Expanding Process (마찰에 민감한 긴 파이프의 축관 및 확관 동시공정의 해석을 통한 마찰법칙의 평가)

  • Frictional laws are criticized with emphasis on their application to bulk metal forming simulation in this paper. Coulomb frictional law and constant shear frictional law are investigated in detail in terms of their effect on metal forming process. A friction sensitive bulk metal forming process, a long-pipe simultaneously shrinking and expanding process, is introduced and the problems of the constant shear frictional law are revealed comparing the predictions obtained by the Coulomb frictional law and the constant shear frictional law with the experiments. It is shown that the constant shear frictional law is improper in the case that the normal stress varies very much from position to position and that the normal stress is low compared with flow stress of the adjacent material. It is also shown that the Coulomb frictional constant is more or less affected by the normal stress.

Tribological Properties of Hybrid Friction Materials: Combining Low-steel and Non-steel Friction Materials (금속계와 유기계 마찰재의 분포에 따른 하이브리드 마찰재의 마찰 특성)

  • Tribological properties of hybrid type friction materials were studied. Hybrid friction materials were produced by combining non-steel(NS) and low-steel(LS) type friction materials. The emphasis of the investigation was given to possible synergistic effects from the two different friction materials, in terms of friction stability at high temperatures and the amplitude of friction oscillation, also known as stick-slip at low sliding speeds. The high temperature friction test results showed that the friction effectiveness of the hybrid friction material was well sustained compared to LS and NS friction materials. Wear resistance of the hybrid type was similar to LS friction materials. Examination of the rubbing surfaces after tests revealed that the friction characteristics of the hybrid friction material were attributed to the wear debris produced from low-steel friction materials, which were migrated to the surface of the non-steel friction material, forming new contact plateaus. The stick-slip amplitude and its frequency were pronounced when non-steel friction material was tested, while hybrid and low-steel types showed relatively small stick-slip amplitudes. These results suggest possible improvement of tribological properties by designing a hybrid composite of low-steel and non-steel friction materials.

  • As nonlinear friction, stick-slip friction in hydraulic actuators are a problem for accuracy and repeatability. Therefore friction compensation has been approached through various control algorithms. A Adaptive discrete time sliding mode tracking controller has been applied in order to compensate the nonlinear friction characteristics in a hydraulic Actuator. Based on the diophantine equation, a new discrete time sliding function is defined and utilized for the control law which includes a friction and modeling error. Robustness is increased by using both a projection algorithm and a sliding function-based nonlinear feedforward. From the results of simulation and experiment good tracking performance is achieved.

  • Studied are the existing equations of Hazen-Williams and Colebrook-White, and the equations of Yoo's (1995) mean zero velocity point and mean friction factor developed for the estimation of commercial pipe friction factor. Simple arrangements of pipe network are devised by changing the diameter, flow discharge and length, and the characteristics of four equations are investigated by comparing the computed results of pressures at each node. Three groups of pipe diameter, small, medium, large, are considered in the comparison, and various problems of existing equations are discussed based on the computed results of pressures and velocities.

  • The normal and tangential belt forces for two types of flat belts are measured and compared. From friction theory, ti was assumed that tangential friction is proportional to the actual contact area $A_{a}$ and $A_{a}$ is proportional to normal pressure P; i.e., $A_{a}$ .var.P$^{n}$ . For a flat belt with cloth backing, the n=2/3 is obtained for the constant of belt surface model. For a flat belt with rubber backing, the n=0.9 to n=1.0 is suggested as a surface model constant. The theoretical equation developed in this paper showed agood with the experimental results.

  • In developing computer-aided design technology for optimization of stamping die design, it has been an important issue to treat the frictional constraint acting on the blank holder surface. The main goal of this work is to establish database of draw bead restraint force and clarify friction characteristic for various automotive sheet steels, which is essential in developing friction algorithm that can be used for CAD of stamping die design. Draw bead friction tester is used to evaluate the various parameters that affect the draw restraint force and the coefficient of friction for the cold rolled and the coated sheet steels such as drawing rate, lubricant type, surface property of material, etc.

  • 최근 그린 친환경, 지구온난화방지와 환경 부하물질저감, 기기 고효율화, 연비향상 등의 관점에서 항공기, 자동차 등 운송기계와 휴대용 전자제품 등 경량화가 요구되는 분야에서 경량합금의 사용이 급증하고 있다. 특히, 경량합금 중 가장 가벼운 마그네슘 합금은 최근 주목을 받고 있는 금속재료이다. 그러나 마그네슘합금은 알루미늄합금과는 달리 상온 성형성 및 접합성이 양호하지 않은 관계로 판재를 이용한 구조부품의 제작을 위해서는 많은 연구가 필요하다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 마그네슘합금 판재의 마찰 교반 점용접을 시도하였다. CNC 밀링머신을 사용하여 프로브의 회전 및 삽입 속도에 변화를 주어 접합 특성을 평가하였고, 각 변수의 영향을 조사하였다. 적외선 열화상기와 로드셀을 사용하여 마찰 교반 점용접 중에 발생하는 교반부 온도와 접합부에 가해지는 수직부가하중의 거동을 측정하였다. 마찰 교반 점용접 후, 시험편의 접합 상태와 접합부 단면 관찰을 통해 접합 상태를 조사하였다. 그리고 인장전단 실험을 실시하여 마찰 교반 점용접된 시혐편의 접합강도를 평가하였고, 파단된 시험편의 파면을 관찰하였다.

  • Triboelectrostatic separation process is a technology that different particles charged after contact and rubbing different materials are separated in a high electric field. This technology has an advantage in that it can be used for separating non-conducting materials such as plastics unlike other electrostatic separation processes. There are two objectives in this study. One is to develop an effective continuous tribo-electrostatic separation process. The other is to apply the developed device for the separation of mixed plastics. Results show that almost all tested plastics reaches over 95% in yield and grade after separation.

Bed Load Transport by Waves and Current (파와 해류에 의한 소류사 이동)

  • Various factors are investigated on the bed load transport driven by waves and current, and proper forms of bed load transport formulas mainly used in river hydraulics are chosen for the estimation of combined flow bed load transport after considering the additional factors. The BYO Model is employed for the computation of maximum bed shear stress and mean bed shear stress of the combined flow. The friction factor of uni-directional flow is estimated by using modified Keulegan equation, and equivalent roughness height is determined by obtaining correct answer for the bed shear stress of uni-directional flow. Empirical constant in each bed load formula is determined by applying it to Bijker's laboratory data of bed load transport by waves and current and the formulas obtained are discussed on their final forms with the values of empirical constants.
