Experimental Study on Fatigue Strength of Slip-Critical Splices using F13T High Strength Bolts (F13T급 고장력볼트를 이용한 마찰연결부 피로강도에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • New high strength bolts are required due to the development of the high strength steel, the ultra-thick steel plates, and the long-span bridge, though high strength bolts with tensile strength of 1,000 MPa are mainly used in construction site of every country. Consequently, in this study, we estimated the fatigue strength by performing fatigue test of slip-resistant splices with slip coefficients applying the newly developed F13T high strength bolts. The fatigue test satisfied the Category B requirements with the fatigue strength of slip-resistant splices. Also we analyzed the fatigue fracture characteristics of slip-resistant splices.

A Study on the Slip Behavior of Coated High Tension Bolted Joints (도장처리한 고장력볼트 연결부의 미끄러짐 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Coating the high tension bolted frictional joint has been generally allowed for anti-corrosion purpose. However in case of painting on paying surface of the high tension bolt, the influence on a slip strength of the joint depending on precision of painting has remained controversial. The study thus was intended to identify the slip behavior on high tension bolted frictional joint when applying ceramic painting, which has been currently developed. A slip test was conducted on a high tension bolted frictional joint specimen on which ceramic painting has been applied and a slip load and slip coefficient were measured. Based on result, the safety and usability of ceramic painting-applied high tension bolted frictional joint was evaluated. As a result, a difference to some extent by specimen in terms of load-displacement when a slip occurred was observed but an average slip coefficient appeared to have exceeded 0.4, which is the design frictional coefficient set forth in the specification. To secure the safety and usability of ceramic painting-applied high tension bolted frictional joint, it's necessary to establish the standard for painting as well as to revise the relevant specification.

Engineering Properties of Tire Treads for Soil Reinforcement (지반보강재로서 타이어 트레드의 공학적 특성)

  • In order to utilize treads of waste tire as reinforcement material it is necessary to know the interface friction angle between tread surfaces and soil and tensile strength of connection joint of tire treads. In this research large direct shear tests were performed to get the interface friction angle between the inner and outer surfaces of treads and soil for different degree of compaction. From the large direct shear tests, the ratio of interface friction angle to the shear friction angle of sand, ${\delta}/{\phi}$, were 1.06 in outside surface of tire tread and 0.93 in inside surface of tire tread. For weathered granite soil the ratio of interface friction angle was 0.98 and 0.92 for outside and inside of tread, respectively. Also tensile tests were performed using universal testing machine for the connection joint of treads and Tirecell units using bolts. The tensile strength of connection joint increased with the number of bolts and with the sizes of washers. Connection by polypropylene ropes showed lower strength than those of bolts.

  • The plain and simple shape water front structure were designed and installed for wave protection and wave resistance. But the installation of these plain and simple structure cause deficiency of environmental affinity. Also the resonance phenomena from the reflective wave and shipwave of the harbor incident wave caused high tide and wave, consequently maintaining the tranquility of inside harbor, give difficulty for mooring the ship and loading-unloading, increase the possibility of ship collision at the quray wall and landing place To solve these problems, we develop the environmentally friendly wave dissipation block. And installation efficiency, stability of the blocks through experiment of C.E Block Joint.

  • 본 연구목적은 선형부분구조물과 그 부분구조물들을 결합하는 비선형연결부 로 이루어진 구조물을 해석하기 위해 비선형 연결부의 모델변화를 효과적으 로 규명하는데 있다. 제안된 방법은 시간영역에서만 계산이 가능하였던 힘- 상태 사상법을 주파수영역으로 확장함으로써, 전체구조물에서 선형부분구조 물들은 분리 해석이 가능하고, 시간영역의 많은 데이터를 줄일 수 있는 장점 이 있다. 제안된 방법의 타당성 및 장점을 검증하기 위해서 쿨롱마찰 비선형 특성을 갖는 두 가지의 구조물에 대하여 각각 실험적으로 연결부의 매개변 수를 규명하였다.

Analysis of Seismic Performance of Modular Containment Structure for Small Modular Reactor (소형 원자로용 모듈화 격납구조의 내진성능 분석)

  • The seismic performance of a containment structure should be secured to maintain the structural soundness of a containment structure under various earthquakes that occur globally. Therefore, an analysis of the seismic performance of a modular containment structure for a small modular reactor is also required. To analyze the seismic performance of modular containment, FEM models with contact surfaces between the modules and tendon were prepared and the modal and seismic analyses were performed. The displacement, stress, and gap size of modular containment under earthquake wave were analyzed. The effects of the tendon force, friction coefficient, and earthquake wave on the seismic performance were analyzed. The seismic performance of monolithic containment was also analyzed for comparison. In the 1st and 2nd natural modes, which most likely affect, the modular containment showed horizontal dynamic behavior, which is similar to monolithic containment, because of the combined effects of the tendon force and friction force between modules. When the combined effect is sufficient, the seismic performance of the modular containment is secured over a certain level. An additional increase in seismic performance is expected when some material with a larger friction coefficient is adopted on the contact surface.

  • The assemblage of the trapezoidal segments, which is being used increasingly to shield tunnelling, with Guide rod and Dowel forms tunnel lining. In this case the larger the taper angle of trapezoidal segment is, the easier the assembly work becomes. The large angle can reduce the water proof material's phenomenon of being pushed back, but decreases the structural safety in connecting section of tunnel lining. In this paper a 3-dimensional numerical analysis was performed to estimate the exact behavior of a model shield tunnel made by connecting 3-dimensionally various accessories with irregular sectioned segments. We obtained the operating force of connecting section according to the change of taper angle of trapezoidal segment and sought for improved scheme for connecting section by comparing and analyzing the test results on the friction resistance force of connecting parts.

  • Currently the bolt joint defect occurs from the steel bridge which is in the process of using but that investigation about each kind defect is lacking state. Research to see consequently the high strength bolt joint sliding conduct bring the model it used a structural analysis program LUSAS numerical analysis execution and a plan for Steel Box Girder Bridge copying full-size H-Beam and plan pretensioned bolt force 100%. 75%, 50% and 25% pretensioned force it acted in standard. And a hold an examination, against the sliding loads which it follows in the pretensioned force it will analysis.

  • Instrumented steel sheet piles being driven by vibratory pile driver were installed in granular soil deposit and behaviors of the sheet piles were investigated. One of the instrumented steel sheet pile was installed without clutch and the other was installed with clutch. Sheet pile with clutch means that of installed in connection with pre-installed sheet pile. Penetration rates of sheet piles measured from depth measuring drum has shown that interlock friction had great effect on penetration speed of sheet pile. Clutch friction shows irregular distribution along the depths of penetration and its magnitude was estimated as 19.1kN/m. According to the accelerations obtained from accelerometer, it was seen that steel sheet pile behaviored nearly as a rigid body. Efficiency factor of an isolated sheet pile was 0.42 and that of the connected sheet pile was 0.71. Shapes of dynamic load transfer curves obtained from analysis of measuring devices was similar to those suggested by Dierssen.
