  • This paper presents a multi-functional microstrip spital antenna that operates in dual frequency bands. Several types of beam shape can be selected by controlling the phase difference of two spiral arms with the phase shifters located on each feed line. It has a normal beam at the lower frequency band, and four different patterns at the higher frequency band: normal beam, conical beam and two types of tilted beam. The antenna exhibits more than 10% of bandwidth at each band. The antenna is fabricated with conductor backed electromagnetic absorber in order to attain unidirectional radiation pattern and confirmed the multi-functionality by measurements.

  • Effect of finite substrate plane on the radiation characteristics of microstrip patch antennas is investigated. The variation of the characteristics of the radiation pattern due to the change of the length of a substrate is much larger than that due to the change of the width of a substrate. As the thickness of a substrate increases, the characteristics of the radiation pattern reveal more sensitive for the change of the size of a substrate.

  • We report the development of an optical micro-nanolithography method by using a roll-type mask. It includes phase-shift lithography and photolithography for realizing various target dimensions. For sub-wavelength resolution, a structure is achieved using the near-field exposure of a photoresist through a cylindrical phase-mask, allowing high-throughput continuous patterning. By using a film-type metal mask, continuous photolithography was achieved, and this method could be used to control the period of resultant patterns in real time by changing the rotating speed of the cylinder mask. As an application, we present the fabrication of a transparent electrode in the form of a metallic mesh by using the developed roll-type photolithography process. As a result, a transparent conductor with good properties was achieved by using a recently built cylindrical phase-shift lithography prototype, which was designed for patterning on 100-mm2 substrates.

  • Recently, mechanically beam-steering microstrip patch array antenna using MEMS technology is developed and tested. In this paper as an application of developed antenna, new radiation pattern synthesis method far beam-steering antenna without phase-shifter is proposed, and applied to synthesis of desired beam shape. Niching genetic algorithm using Restricted Competition Selection (RCS) is used for radiation pattern optimization. This approach can be applied to design of array antenna for meet EMC standard and through proposed method specific beam shapes can be synthesized.

  • RF characteristics of CPW(coplanar waveguide) pattern with bonding pads used in flip-chip packaging of GaAs is studied in the frequency range of 1 GHz to 35 GHz. Simulation, fabrication and evaluation are performed for the proposed patterns. Measurement results show proposed patterns have similar properties of $S_{11}$below -31 dB and $S_{21}$ above -0.19 dB with typical CPW In addition RF properties are improved with the increase of width of ground line. This indicates CPW structure with bonding pads keeps RF characteristics of typical CPW.

  • The etching characteristic of a tantalum thin film with pure chlorine plasma was studied using an electron cyclotron resonance etcher system. Optical emission actinometry (OEA) was used for the study of the etching mechanism of a tantalum thin film and optimum process condition was achieved by OEA study. Based on this mechanism, double step etching was performed and 0.15 $\mu\textrm{m}$ L & S was acquired successfully suppressing the microloading effect.

  • A microstrip array antenna is designed and tested for satellite broadcasting receptions. The Sierpinski equilateral triangular patch and SSFIP(slot-strip-foam-inverted patch) structures are used. This 1$\times$3 Sierpinski equilateral triangular patch antenna is extended to 8$\times$2 array antenna for satellite broadcasting receptions. The measurement results of the reflection coefficients and the radiation patterns of the manufactured array antenna show good agreements with the simulation results.

  • In order to increase the productivity of conventional microstereolithography, a new method using a digital micromirror device ($DMD^{TM}$) as the dynamic patter generator is proposed. The deviation from the level of clear optical images to the level of photopolymer surface is a key for the fabrication of an accurate 3D structure, so this deviation is minimized by controlling the viscosity of FA 1260T with organic solvents. After finding the appropriate process variables, the feasibility of microstructure fabrication such as a microgear and a microsphere is demonstrated. Microstereolithography with $DMD^{TM}$ showed the potential to replace the existing focused beam microstereolithography.
