The Development and Application of Teaching-Learning Process Plans for Raising Awareness of the Secondary School Student's LOHAS(Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) - Focused on the unit of 'the choice and maintenance of clothing' in Technology-Home Economics - (중학생의 로하스 의식 함양을 위한 교수.학습 과정안 개발 및 적용 - 기술.가정 '의복의 선택과 관리' 단원을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to raise the awareness of LOHAS(Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) in the secondary school students. We extracted the related contents to LOHAS from the unit of 'The choice and maintenance of clothing' in the second-year's textbook of Technology-Home Economics, and selected the learning subjects. We also developed the new teaching-learning process plan on practical problem focused lesson, and applied them to the eight classes located in Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, for 5 hours per each class. The learning subjects of the teaching-learning process plan included five items as followings; general awareness, organic fashion, natural fabric, recycled material fashion, and natural dyeing, which were related to LOHAS consumption. The overall topic of the teaching-learning process plan was 'What should do to raise the awareness of LOHAS in order to practice LOHAS consumption in the choice of clothing'. Consequently, the results were abtained as follow; The general awareness of LOHAS as well as the awareness of LOHAS consumption in the choice of clothing increased after classes significantly, compared to those before. Thirty-four materials including worksheets, reading materials and teacher's guide could help to raise the awareness of LOHAS. Also these classes enabled the students to raise their awareness of LOHAS, to improve their opinions and attitudes on LOHAS consumption in the choice of clothing, and to take an interest in the lesson of Home-Economics. This study might have the educational significance in that it made the students directly participate in the national and social trend of the awareness of LOHAS, and upgrade their quality as good LOHAS consumers. Also further teaching-learning process plan in Home-Economics are necessary to promote the awareness of LOHAS for better health, environment, and society.

A Study on the Influences of LOHAS Consciousness on LOHAS Cuticle Management (로하스 의식이 로하스 큐티클 관리에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to analyze the influences of LOHAS cuticle management, which based on LOHAS consciousness among customers using nail art shops and removes only Cuticle layer without Eponychium, on the preference and expected value of service quality. Further, it tackles how above related variables have important bearing on reuse intention. A survey was conducted only with customers over the age of 20 in Seoul, Daejeon and Daegu areas in terms of LOHAS consciousness. For the collected 389 data, frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were carried out by using SPSS 18.0 Version statistical package. The results are as follows. First, according to the results, it shows high positive correlation between LOHAS cuticle management based on the consciousness of LOHAS, and LOHAS cuticle management preference, tendency and willingness to transfer toward it. Second. it is proven that LOHAS consciousness tend to be possessed in older age groups, married and a professional employee layers and this LOHAS motivated groups showed high LOHAS cuticle management preference, inclination and intention of a change in management. Lastly, the reuse intention is mostly affected by experience and preference of LOHAS cuticle management. There is negative correlation between reuse intention and experience in blooding and pain during care service. Higher interest in preference of LOHAS cuticle management has highly influenced positive link with the repurchase intention.

Influence of Consumers' Shopping Value and Product Types on LOHAS Consumption (쇼핑성향과 상품특성에 따른 로하스 상품 소비에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for LOHAS(Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) consumption growth. The study investigated the relationships between shopping value, LOHAS consciousness and LOHAS consumption. The finding of this study revealed that both hedonic and utilitarian shopping values had a positive effect on LOHAS consciousness and LOHAS consumption. We also found that the representative hedonic and utilitarian products(electronics) had the positive relationship between the both hedonic and utilitarian shopping values and LOHAS consumption. Furthermore, the representative hedonic LOHAS products(cosmetics) showed a positive relationship between hedonic shopping values and LOHAS consumption. However the representative utilitarian LOHAS product(detergent) did not show a relationship between utilitarian shopping values and LOHAS consumption. These findings are expected to provide marketing implications for LOHAS consumption growth. To improve consumers' LOHAS consumption, it is essential to focus on strengthening the hedonic value of the consumers, highlighting LOHAS consciousness. LOHAS consumption may improve the pride of consumers and increase the pleasure of the consumers. Additionally, it is necessary that publicity and education justify consumer behavior such that LOHAS consumption is socially responsible and it is a mature and exemplary action of citizens obligations to society.

Consumer's Consciousness of the LOHAS Consumption and the Consumption Behavior of the LOHAS Products (소비자의 로하스 소비의식과 로하스 상품소비행동)

  • This paper explored consumers' LoHAS purchasing behavior and factors influencing the behavior, including' self-construal, and LoHAS values, attitudes and behavior. First, this study investigated how self-construal affected LoHAS values, and then analyzed how LoHAS values influenced LoHAS attitude and behavior. Last, this study is to examine how the relationships among LoHAS values, LoHAS attitude and behavior are moderated by consumers' gender. We administerd a survey with undergraduates attending a university located in the metropolitan area. The analysis results indicate that interdependent self-construal affects LoHAS values. According to the analysis, both environmentalism and sustainability of LoHAS values also affect LoHAS attitude, and then the attitude influences LoHAS behavior. In addition, the results show that the relationships among LoHAS values, LoHAS attitude and behavior are not moderated by consumers' gender. This study shows the casual relationship between variables including self-construal, LoHAS values, attitude and behavior. In particular, this finding confirms that self-construal as one of psychological factors affects LoHAS consumers' values and behavior. Finally, based in the findings of this study, theoretical contribution and managerial implications are discussed.

Effects of the LOHAS Image of Restaurants on Involvement and Willingness to Pay (레스토랑의 로하스 이미지가 관여도 및 지불의사에 미치는 영향)

  • With the changing consciousness of consumers, there has been an increasing interest in nature-friendly lifestyles and safety of food ingredients. Therefore, the LOHAS image, which has value in social health and sustainability, is expected to be a factor that helps restaurants establish differentiation strategies. This study examined the LOHAS image of restaurants on involvement and willingness to pay. The results were as follows. First, eco-friendly food ingredients and interiors among the LOHAS image factors of restaurants had a significant effect on involvement. Second, the perception of LOHAS in the LOHAS image factors of restaurants had a significant effect on involvement. These results may be due to the lack of a conceptual understanding of LOHAS among restaurant customers, who fail to properly grasp its meaning. Therefore, in order to promote the LOHAS image of restaurants to customers, it is necessary to consider presenting POPs or signs that will enable customers to understand the concept of LOHAS inside the restaurant. Third, consumers' involvement turned out to have a significant effect on their willingness to pay. Thus, it is necessary to imprint the image of a LOHAS restaurant using eco-friendly colors, sculptures, and agricultural products so that customers can perceive food ingredients or interior elements as eco-friendly.

  • As the world is in the age of globalization and information, we observe diverse changes in the market environment. Since wide-spread internet services and global networks made ubiquitous learning and business possible, equalizing consumers' ideology and preference, new trend and life style could be introduced easily. This study stipulates on the theoretical concept of the wellbeing consumer and LOHAS consumer. Consumers of LOHAS could be sampled out through pre-questionnaire targeting at selected food, clothing, and shelter based on companies of both wellbeing and general brands. Through this it is attempted to measure wellbeing emotion, recognition quotient of emotion and reason, affirmation and negation, mental emotion quotient, and preference in order to find out their value and to ultimately come up with what web design should be aiming at. Conclusions are as follows: Firstly, consumers easily recognize emotional identification from the web pages of wellbeing brand, rather than that of general brands. Secondly, what web pages of wellbeing brand recognize is reason, not emotion. Thirdly, the design of wellbeing brands scored higher than those of general brands in terms of positive aspects such as hospitality and familiarity, and high mental emotion quotient could not affect the consumers' preference toward web design. Fourthly, wellbeing brands win more preference than general brands do, and preference becomes higher after customers' visit to web pages basically. Lastly, sampled emotional adjectives toward the web designs of wellbeing brands marked a aesthetic graph figure, without leaning toward an active or stable one. It is expected that this study can serve as a groundwork to create proper strategies to actively involve consumers in industrial sphere.

A Study on Dietary Behavior of Chinese Consumers Segmented by Dietary Lifestyle (중국 현지 소비자들의 식생활 라이프스타일 세분화에 따른 식행동 연구)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the dietary lifestyle of local Chinese consumers and to classify dietary characteristics according to their dietary lifestyle factors and dietary behaviors. This investigation was conducted for 1 month from 1 January 2017 targeting 300 adult males and females living in China using the online survey company surveymonkey. Four factors relating to dietary lifestyle were identified, gourmet factor, healthy factor, convenience factor and economic factor, and these were grouped into 4 clusters according to their dietary lifestyle factor scores. Group 1, the gourmet economy group, showed a high percentage of living alone and a high frequency of eating out, but a relatively low percentage of three regular meals per day. Their dietary lifestyle was sensitive to gourmet factors and economic factors, but less sensitive to health and convenience factors. Group 2, the wide interest group, contained a high percentage of individuals in their 30s, as well as more highly educated individuals and a higher income than other groups. Because their dietary lifestyle scores tended to be higher than those of other groups, they sought a variety of new foods and gourmet meals for enjoyment of dining and life, as well as well-being food materials and foods related to health. Group 3, the health economic group, constituted a family-type consumer group with lower income level than the other groups. Members of this group were seeking health food and natural food in their dietary lifestyle and tended to pursue a high economic profit ratio when purchasing food. Finally, group 4 showed a relatively higher percentage of women over 30 and individuals with a college level or higher education than the other groups. This group was more interested in health and taste than price and convenience, and showed the highest LOHAS orientation among middle aged Chinese women. Moreover, members of this group directly utilized their knowledge regarding nutrition in real life.
