In this paper, we propose the 3D shape reconstruction method that combine the mosaic method and the active stereo matching using the laser beam. The active stereo matching method detects the position information of the irradiated laser beam on object by analyzing the color and brightness variation of left and right image, and acquires the depth information in epipolar line. The mosaic method extracts feature point of image by using harris comer detection and matches the same keypoint between the sequence of images using the keypoint descriptor index method and infers correlation between the sequence of images. The depth information of the sequence image was calculated by the active stereo matching and the mosaic method. The merged depth information was reconstructed to the 3D shape information by wrapping and blending with image color and texture. The proposed reconstruction method could acquire strong the 3D distance information, and overcome constraint of place and distance etc, by using laser slit beam and stereo camera.

Based on the multimode fiber taper, a mode size converter for effective optical beam coupling between laser and optical fiber or between the two different optical fibers has been proposed and demonstrated. The device has a multimode input end and a single mode output end. The influence of various parameters, including device structure and launching conditions, on the coupling efficiency has been theoretically analyzed. The theoretical results revealed that the gaussian beam can be coupled into a single mode fiber without considerable insertion loss. The proposed multimode fiber taper has been fabricated using heating and pulling equipment incorporating two micro-torches. Experimental results showed that an optical beam with $50\;{\mu}m$ of large beam size was effectively coupled into single mode fiber through the multimode fiber taper. The insertion loss of the device was 1.3 dB.

The energy transfer between two incident beams in a photorefractive Cu-doped(0.04 wt. %) ${(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})}_{0.2}{(Sr_{0.61}Ba_{0.39})}_{0.9}Nb_2O_6$ crystal is investigated at 632.8 nm laser wavelength. In addition, the coherent two-wave coupling properties of a photoinduced refractive-index grating in the presence of amplitude modulation on the signal beam or reference beam are also experimentally investigated. Some preliminary exprimental results are presented for use as a dynamic photorefracitive combiners and pulse shaping elements in coherent optical communication systems and in optical signal processing.
Over the past two decades, fiber-based lasers have made remarkable progress, now having reached power levels exceeding kilowatts and drawing a huge amount of attention from academy and industry as a replacement technology for bulk lasers. In this paper we review the significant factors that have led to the progress of fiber lasers, such as gain-fiber regimes based on ytterbium-doped silica, optical pumping schemes through the combination of laser diodes and double-clad fiber geometries, and tandem schemes for minimizing quantum defects. Furthermore, we discuss various power-limitation issues that are expected to incur with respect to the ultimate power scaling of fiber lasers, such as efficiency degradation, thermal hazard, and system-instability growth in fiber lasers, and various relevant methods to alleviate the aforementioned issues. This discussion includes fiber nonlinear effects, fiber damage, and modal-instability issues, which become more significant as the power level is scaled up. In addition, we also review beam-combining techniques, which are currently receiving a lot of attention as an alternative solution to the power-scaling limitation of high-power fiber lasers. In particular, we focus more on the discussion of the schematics of a spectral beam-combining system and their individual requirements. Finally, we discuss prospects for the future development of fiber laser technologies, for them to leap forward from where they are now, and to continue to advance in terms of their power scalability.
In this paper, we experimentally investigate the fiber fuse in single-mode 2-kW-class high-power fiber amplifiers, depending on the cooling method at the splicing point. We measured the temperature of the splicing point between the pump-signal combiner and gain fiber as a function of laser output power. The temperature of the splicing point increased from 20 to 32℃ with a slope of 0.01℃/W, up to 1.2 kW of laser output power. At higher powers the temperature of the splicing point increased dramatically, with a slope of 0.08℃/W. After that, the fiber amplifier was destroyed during operation at 1.96 kW of output power by fiber fuse. The bullet shape, a common feature of fiber fuse, was observed in the damaged passive fiber core of the pump-signal combiner. Later, we adopted an improved water-cooled cold plate to increase the cooling efficiency at the splicing point, and investigated the laser output power. The temperature at the splicing point was 35.8℃ with a temperature-rise slope of 0.007℃/W at the maximum output power of 2.05 kW. The beam quality M2 was measured to be less than 1.3, and the output beam's profile was a stable Gaussian shape. Finally, neither fiber fuse nor mode instability was observed in the fiber amplifier at the maximum output power of 2.05 kW.
We have developed a linearly polarized high-power Yb-doped fiber laser in the master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) scheme for efficient spectral beam combining. We modulated the phase of the seed laser by pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS), with the bit length optimized to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), and subsequently amplified seed power in a 3-stage amplifier system. We have constructed by coiling the polarization-maintaining (PM) Yb-doped fiber, with core and cladding diameters of 20 ㎛ and 400 ㎛ respectively, to a diameter of 9-12 cm for suppression of the mode instability (MI). Finally, we obtained an output power of 1.004 kW with a slope efficiency of 83.7% in the main amplification stage. The beam quality factor M2 and the polarization extinction ratio (PER) were measured to be 1.12 and 21.5 dB respectively. Furthermore, the peak-intensity difference between the Rayleigh signal and SBS signal was observed to be 2.36 dB in the backward spectra, indicating that SBS is successfully suppressed. In addition, it can be expected that the MI does not occur because not only there is no decrease in slope efficiency, but also the beam quality for each amplified output is maintained.
We fabricate a polarization-independent dielectric multilayer thin-film diffraction grating for a spectral-beam-combining (SBC) system with a simple grating structure and low aspect ratio. Due to the refractive index and thickness error of the manufactured thin films, the diffraction efficiency of the fabricated diffraction grating was lower than that of the design. The causes of the errors were analyzed, and it was confirmed through simulation that diffraction efficiency could be compensated through an additional coating on the manufactured diffraction grating. As a result of sputtering an additional Ta2O5 layer on a fabricated diffraction grating, the diffraction efficiency was corrected and a maximum 91.7% of polarization-independent diffraction efficiency was obtained.

In spot welded joint. Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) method using the Model 95 Ar laser a video system and an image processor was applied to measure the stress Unlike traditional strain gauges or Moire method, ESPI method has no special surface preparation or attachments and can be measured in-plane displacement with non-contact and real time. In this experiment, specimens are loaded in parallel with a load cell. The specimens are made of the cold rolled steel sheet with 1mm thickness, are attached strain. gauges. This study Provides an example of how ESPI has been used to measure stress and strain inspecimen. The results measured by ESPI are compared with the data which was measured by strain gauge method under tensile testing.
We have detected the resonant stimulated Raman scattering signal when the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser beam are incident on the $35~62{\mu}m$ sized water droplet as pump beam. The signals appeared as uniformly spaced peaks and the intervals between peaks become narrow as the droplet size increases. Also we have confirmed the morphology dependent resonances (MDR's) characteristic of the stimulated Raman scattering signal when the water droplet becomes nearly spherical shape after two water droplets are coupled to a droplet. The error in the measured intervals between MDR's of same mode order is about 5%.out 5%.
