Purpose: To consider how college students' adjustment to college life is related to peer attachment and self-esteem. Method: The subjects were 183 female college students attending one university. The study data were collected with the inventory of peer attachment-revised version, the self-esteem inventory, and the inventory for adjustment to college life. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: There were significant differences in self-esteem according to residence type. There were significant differences in the adjustment to college life according to monthly income. There was a significantly positive correlation between peer attachment and adjustment to college life. There were significantly positive correlations between self-esteem and adjustment to college life and all of the subscales of adjustment to college life. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that 28.6% of the adjustment to college life was significantly explained by self-esteem and monthly income. Conclusion: Based on these findings, peer attachment is a very important factor influencing self-esteem which is itself a very important factor influencing adjustment to college life in female college students. Therefore, an alternative program designed to increase the self-esteem and peer attachment of female college students should be a planned program based on the study results.

Adolescence is a period of transition from child to adult and is a very important period in which to think about the direction to go in the future and establish one's ego. However, the level of life satisfaction experienced by Korean youths in the adolescent period has been shown to be the lowest among OECD countries. It is very critical to understand which factors are important in determining the level of life satisfaction and how they affect it. In this study, to analyze the factors which affect the life satisfaction of youths and their learning attitude - essential school activity prior to life satisfaction in the youth period, we firstly focused on the relationships with their parents, peers and teachers as potential factors affecting their learning attitude and life satisfaction. This study found that Parenting Style, Peer Attachment and Relationship with Teachers significantly influenced Life Satisfaction either directly or indirectly. We analyzed the structural relationships among these factors using the structure equation model, discussed the analysis results and concluded with further research directions.

The study examined the effects of individual, family, and environmental factors on adolescents' self-esteem. Individual factors were the adolescents' health status and their leisure activity experiences, while the family factors were families' socio-economic status(SES) and parenting styles. Three environmental factors focusing on the adolescents' school environment were studied, and they consisted of academic attachment, peer attachment, and teacher attachment. The study inquiries were as follows: which individual factors had an effect on the adolescents' self-esteem? Which family factors had an effect on the adolescents' self-esteem? Which environmental factors had an effect on the adolescents' self-esteem? Of all the factors considered in this study, which factors had the greatest effect on adolescents' self-esteem? This study used data from the 3rd Korean Child and Youth Panel survey of Korean students in the first grade of middle school, and the data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. The results were as follows: the most important factor that have an effect on adolescents' self-esteem was parenting style, while peer attachment, health status, and academic attachment were also found to significantly affect adolescents' self-esteem. In the conclusion, the researchers suggest various strategies based on results of the analysis to improve adolescents' self-esteem.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of Ego-Resilience between Peer Attachment and Mobile Phone Dependency in late adolescence. Methods: The participants were 2056 third year high school adolescents (1,041 boys and 1,015 girls) from the Korea Youth Panel Study (KYPS), a national representative of Korean Children and adolescence. Hierarchical Regression was used for data analysis. Results: First, the correlation between peer attachment, ego-resilience and mobile phone dependency were all significant. Second, ego-resilience takes the role of moderator for mobile phone dependency. In detail, ego-resilience relieves the mobile phone dependency caused by 'peer relationships' or 'conflict in peer relationships. Conclusion/Implications: Ego-resilience was found to control the relationship between peer attachment and mobile phone dependency. Therefore, in order to lower the dependence of mobile phones in adolescents with low peer attachment, a program that can enhance ego-resilience is needed.
This study analyzed the relation of children's attachment security and mother-child interaction to children's peer interactions. The subjects were 51 preschoolers, 44 to 57 months of age and their mothers. Attachment was assessed using the Attachment Q-set (Waters, 1987), mother-child interactions at home were observed with the use of the Teaching Strategies Rating Scales (Erickson, Sroufe, Egeland, 1985), and peer interactions were observed during free play time, using the Holloway and Erickson(1988) categories. Pearson correlation and multiple regression showed that attachment security scores were negatively related to dependency toward peers. Mother's "structure and limit setting" and "respect for child's autonomy" were positively related to "helping with peers" and negatively to "asking for help" and "physical attack". The variables accounting for dependency toward peers were mother's hostility and attachment security.
This study aims to examine the mediating role of peer attachment between affective school environments and the problematic behaviors of children using data from the Panel Study on Korean Children 10th wave (2017). Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, Sobel test, and bootstrapping versification were performed using SPSS 28.0 and Process Macro 28.0. The results indicate that controlled and rigid school environments were negatively associated with peer attachment and positively associated with both internal and external behavior problems. Furthermore, peer attachment was negatively associated with both internal and external behavioral problems. Peer attachment completely mediated the link between affective school environments and internal behavioral problems, and partially mediated the link between affective school environments and external behavioral problems. These results show the important role of supportive and democratic school environments regarding peer attachment.

Results of the analysis have revealed that the students were basically divided into three groups depending on goodness-of-fit index and latent class division factor. Type 1 was regarded as a low dependence group (50.1%) with all low indexes while Type 2 was classified as a high dependence group (10.7%) with all high indexes. As for Type 3, it was titled intermediate dependence group (39.2%) for the indexes showed a low-to-moderate movement. A multinomial logistic regression analysis was carried out to forecast smart phone dependence characteristics and as a consequence, when the high dependence group was compared to the intermediate dependence group, as self-esteem and peer attachment increased and deceased respectively, a chance of one being classified into the intermediate dependence group rose. In an investigation to compare the high dependence group with the low dependence group, it was confirmed that the greater the self-esteem, the shorter the peer socializing time, the lower the neglect degree and the lower the peer attachment, a chance for one belonging to the low dependence group increased. This study also offered implications, limits and directions in follow-up research.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting the drinking behavior of adolescents. Based on this, it aims to suggest the practical and policy measures to prevent the drinking behavior of adolescents and to mediate / reduce them. We used binomial logistic analysis as an analysis method. As a result of this study, the individual factors affecting alcohol drinking were gender, smoking experience over the past year, sexual satisfaction, cyber delinquency, self-esteem, parental abuse, peer as family factors. Peer trust was significantly associated with attachment factors, and school adaptation factors were not found to be associated with alcohol drinking in adolescents. This suggests that multilateral efforts such as individuals, families, and communities are needed to mediate and reduce the drinking behavior of adolescents.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the developmental pathways that mediate the effects of child abuse on delinquency. Data from the first wave of 'Seoul Panel Study of Children(SPSC)' were analyzed. The subjects consisted of 1,811 4th grade students from elementary schools. Structural equation model was employed for statistical analyses. The results showed that the relationship between child abuse and delinquency was indirectly mediated by self-esteem, peer rejection, and school attachment. The hypothesized structural model had a good model fit. Abused children were more likely to have low self-esteem, which was associated with higher levels of delinquency. In addition, abused children were more likely to be rejected by peers and to have low school attachment, which was also associated with higher levels of delinquency. Implications for social work practice from this study were discussed.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors affecting on depression among female middle school students. Methods: A survey was conducted on 217 first and second grade female middle school students in C city. Participants' general characteristics, home environment, level of depression, paternal, maternal, peer attachment, school adjustment were measured by self-reporting questionnaire. With SPSS 18.0 program, measured variables were analyzed and compared using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ post hoc test, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results: The level of depression among female middle school students were higher among students with lower economic status, second in birth order, and second grade in school. The level of depression was negatively associated with the level of paternal attachment (r=-.522), maternal attachment (r=-.487), peer attachment (r=-.376), relationship with teachers in school adjustment (r=-.274), relationship with friends in school adjustment (r=-.378), classroom behavior (r=-.450), school regulation (r=-.267). About 42% of depression among female middle school students were explained by paternal attachment, relationship with friends in school adjustment, and classroom behavior. Conclusion: Paternal attachment was identified as the most influencing factor on depression among female middle school students. Encouraging paternal involvement in the process of school adjustment might be a useful intervention to decrease depression among middle school girls.
