This study was carried out to analyze how the smartphone addiction of adolescents affect their peer relations. To achieve the study purpose, a survey was performed on students attending middle school in Seoul. For the final questionnaire of 640, factor analysis, reliability test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchial regression analysis were executed. Major study findings are as follows: First smartphone addiction did not affect the trust in peer relations, but affected communication, anger and isolation positively; Second, the degree of smartpone addiction was found to be different in gender, school year, average daily use time and average monthly phone bill; Third, a difference regarding peer relations was found in gender, school year, average daily use time and the monthly expenses. These study findings will contribute to creating a executable and socially acceptable program that promotes good functions of smartphone and discourage negative ones, thus helping alleviate the smartphone addiction problem of adolescents.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between adolescents' family environment(parent's child-rearing attitude, family cohesion), peer environment(quality of peer relationship, peer bullying) and career maturity. The subject of this study were students of third grade of middle school who reside in Seoul. 425 self reported questionnaires were used for final analysis. Findings of this study indicated that family environment of adolescents directly affected peer environment. Family environment and peer environment of adolescents directly affected self-esteem. Self-esteem was more highly affected by peer environment than family environment. Adolescents' self-esteem directly affected career maturity. The structural equation modeling showed that self-esteem mediated the relationship between family environment, peer environment and career maturity.
Objective: The purpose of this research was to examine the moderating effects of relationships on the association between temperament and peer play interaction. Methods: The participants were 606 four year olds who were recruited from day care centers and preschools located in Incheon and Gyeonggi province. Teacher-child relationship was measured with Student-Teacher Relationship Scale. Peer interactions were measured with Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale. Temperament was measured with Child Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ). The data was analysed using Pearson correlation and hierarchial regression. Results: Teacher-child intimacy moderated the associations between inhibitory control and play disruption as well as between emotionality and play disconnection. Moreover, Teacher-child conflict moderated the association between emotionality and play disconnection. Conclusion/Implications: The findings suggest that teacher-child relationships buffer risks conferred by temperament.
The purpose of this study is to examine how the level of participation in dance classes affects the development of social skills and peer relationship. The results are as follows: First, in terms of social skill development and peer relationship based on demographic characteristics, competition-a sub-factor of peer relationship-was higher in male students. In terms of grade level, confidence-a sub-factor of peer relationship-was high in second year students. Second, in terms of the effect of dance class participation on social skill development, autonomy, achievement, and cooperation-sub-factors of social skill-were significantly influenced by the period of participation in dance classes. Participation frequency, on the other hand, was found to significantly impact accountability and activity. Such results indicate that longer dance class participation periods more significantly influences social skill development. Third, in terms of the influence of dance class participation in peer relationship, students who participated in dance classes longer experienced positive impacts regarding sub-factors of peer relationship. Longer participation periods were correlated with lower hostilities. That is, longer participation period and time, as well as, higher participation frequency, have impact on peer relationship.
The purpose of this paper is to verify the mediating effect of peer relations and self-esteem in the relationship between the effects of deficiency of children using local children's centers on school life adaptation. The survey subjects were selected from 424 students in the first year of middle school who were used the local children's center, and analyzed using data from the 4th of the local children's center. Summarizing the analysis results, peer relationships were found to have a complete mediating effect in the relationship between deficiency and school life adaptation. Second, it was verified that self-esteem has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between deficiency and school life adaptation. Children using local children's centers experience deficiencies in various areas of society, but as can be seen from the results of this study, it was suggested that they can help adapt to school life by promoting self-esteem and peer relationships. Therefore, we would like to propose the development of programs and practical implications for promoting children's adaptation to school life, and the expansion of the field of children's research using local children's centers.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between attachment and automatic thoughts of adolescents. A sample of 443 students at middle and high schools participated. Adolescents reported parent and peer attachment using the modified version of Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (Armsden & Greenberg, 1987) and automatic thoughts using the modified version of Automatic Thought Questionnaire (Hollon & Kendall, 1980; Ingram & Wisnicki, 1988). Multiple regression analyses indicated that effects of attachments were different by the type of automatic thoughts. Specifically, trust in peer relations, trust in father-adolescent relations and communication in mother-adolescent relations were important predictors of positive automatic thought, whereas alienation in father-adolescent relations, alienation in peer relations and trust in mother-adolescent relations were important predictors of negative automatic thought.
Objective: To review the literature on development in the peer relationships of the adolescents within the context of their parents' divorce. Method: The cognitive and sociocultural literature was searched to analyze the social interactions of the adolescents of divorced parents. Results: The evidence supports the variations in adolescents' peer relations based on their family structure. Comparisons with the adolescents of the nuclear families and the step-families suggest certain types of interactions the adolescents of divorced parents experience. Conclusions: Divorce of the parents is associated with the difficulties their children at adolescent experience, such as the higher level of social isolation among their peers or their incompetence in social skills. For there is not much known about the integration into the world of peers of the adolescents from the divorced families, while their general psychological and cognitive development after the separation is often studied, future study will need to focus on their peer interactions at their school environment and the social treatment for the possible hardships in their peer relations.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data which can effectively improve young children's peer interaction behavior. For this purpose, this study examined the differences in the peer interactions of 4-year-old or 5-year-old children according to gender and age, and relationship among young children's temperament and emotion regulation, mother's emotional expressiveness, and teacher-child relationships, and then analyzed the relative influence of these variables on peer interaction behavior. The results are as follows. It appeared that boys' positive peer interaction is higher than girls'. Boys' negative peer interaction also is higher than girls'. In addition, the positive peer interaction of 5-year-old children is higher than that of 4-year-old children. As a result of examining the relative influence on peer interactions, children's emotion regulation ability is the most influential variable.
