  • Visual culture art education (VCAE) seems to be the new paradigm for art education after postmodernism. Getting beyond the traditional art education, VCAE has expanded its scope of interest to include the visual environment that surrounds our life, thus pushing the boundary of art education beyond the traditional fine arts to cover pop culture and visual art. VCAE shares the issues as well as a lot of elements of culture and art education and in fact serves as a major theoretic background for culture and art education, in that it pays attention to the sociocultural context of images and emphasizes visual literacy and constructionist learning. In this paper, I have reviewed the theoretical background and related issues of VCAE with a view to presenting a direction for animation education, which is gaining in importance coming into the Age of Digital Media. VCAE was born in the progressive cultural atmosphere from the 1970s and thereafter, and its gist consists in figuring out visual artifacts and their action in order to improve individual and social life. Yet, VCAE continues with its development according to the changing aspects of visual culture, and currently, it is expanding its scope of interest to cover the esthetic, experiential education in visual culture and construction of meaning through digital story-telling. In the visual environment of the Digital Age, animation is establishing itself as the center of the visual culture, being a form that goes beyond an art genre or technology to realize images throughout the visual culture. Also, VCAE, which has so far emphasized visual communication and critical reading of culture, would need to reflect the new aspects of the visual culture in digital animation across the entire gamut from experiencing to understanding and appreciating art education. In this paper, I emphasize on Cross-Curricula, social reconstruction, the expansion of animation education, interests in animation as a digital media, and animation literacy. A study of animation education from the perspective of VCAE will not only provide a theoretical basis for establishing animation education, but also enrich the content of VCAE, traditionally focused on critical text reading, and promote its contemporary and futuristic orientation.

In particular, problem-solving ability and digital literacy, which are essential in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, were set as influencing factors and mediators and tried to verify them. Therefore, in order to find out the effect of problem-solving ability on major satisfaction and the mediating effect of digital literacy, a study was conducted targeting junior college secretarial majors. A total of 193 questionnaires were analyzed, and regression analysis was performed to verify the hypothesis, and bootstrapping was performed using the SPSS PROCESS macro model 4 to verify the significance of the mediating effect. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that problem-solving ability had a positive(+) effect on major satisfaction. Second, problem-solving ability was found to have a positive(+) effect on all four sub-factors of digital literacy. Third, as a result of analyzing the mediating effect of digital literacy in the relationship between problem-solving ability and major satisfaction, among the four sub-factors of digital literacy, information literacy, critical understanding, and information analysis ability completely mediated between problem-solving ability and major satisfaction. has been shown to be effective. On the other hand, the ability to comply with norms was found to have no mediating effect. In this study, it was verified that problem-solving ability affects major satisfaction, and it was found that it is necessary to make various efforts to cultivate problem-solving ability. In addition, based on these research results, suggestions for preparing practical measures to increase major satisfaction were suggested.

  • With the recent growth of information technology, various literacy such as digital literacy, data literacy, AI literacy is being studied. In this paper, we focus on data visualization literacy as visualization is an essential part of big data analysis and is used in several mobile apps. Visualization Literacy Assessment Test(VLAT) was developed in 2016 and we introduce how the test was developed and modified to a Korean version, K-VLAT. K-VLAT is consisted of 12 visualizations and 53 questions through a website. Additionally, to understand the research trend in visualization literacy we analyzed 81 papers that had cited the VLAT publication. We categorized the research into 4 categories with 11 sub-categories. The area of studies visualization literacy related to was understanding the relation with cognition, expanding the literacy measures, relation with education, utilization for developing user-centric dashboards or using the test to show effectiveness of visualizations. At last, we discuss about different ways to utilize K-VLAT for future research.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify how teacher librarians perceive the importance of each job and the expected job of other teachers and students, and to obtain basic information on their job recognition and to derive their jobs to be improved. To this end, after modifying the 25 jobs selected by Lim Jeong-hoon et al.(2021), 210 librarian teachers were measured for their own importance by job, the expected importance of other teachers and students, and the level of evaluation of their own performance ability. As a result of the analysis, teacher librarians recognized 'reading education and literacy education' as the most important, but recognized 'library event' as the most important task expected of other teachers and students, and recognized that 'library usage guidance' was the most outstanding. In addition, there were nine jobs that needed to be improved.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest how to use digital textbooks to cultivate digital citizenship of elementary and secondary students. We analyzed domestic and international research on digital citizenship and analyzed the definition and elements of digital citizenship. Based on the analysis, we formed a council where field teachers, education experts, and government agencies participated. This study devised the elements and competence models of digital citizenship for elementary and secondary school students, and suggested teaching methods using digital textbooks. As a result, we derived five elements of 'Digital Literacy', 'Digital Communication', 'Digital Ethics', 'Digital Responsibility', and 'Digital Creativity & Collaboration', and devised a 'Triangle competency model' for the school site application.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the competency in evidence-based practice, critical thinking disposition, digital literacy, and nursing informatics competence, and to identify the factors influencing the competency in evidence-based practice among nurses. Methods: The participants in this study were 196 nurses from a university hospital in J-city. Data were collected from December 1 to December 30, 2023. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 26.0 program using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results showed that the factors influencing the competency in evidence-based practice included nursing informatics competence, critical thinking disposition, digital literacy, and having a master's degree. The participants with a master's degree demonstrated higher competency in evidence-based practice compared to those with a three-year degree or a four-year degree, and a total explanatory power was 53.1%. Conclusion: In this study, critical thinking disposition, digital literacy, and nursing informatics competence were influential factors in competency of evidence-based practice. Therefore, a variety of intervention programs should be developed to enhance the impact of these factors on nurses' competency in evidence-based practice.
