The system performance analysis and implementation of Digital Communication Satellite (디지털위성중계기 시스템 성능 분석 및 구현)

  • This study introduces about the analysis, verification and implementation of Digital Communication Satellite transponder. Through the pre-performance analysis of each component by the circuit level simulation, each component's performance was checked whether satisfying the specifications. When each of the components was connected in order, System's performances were evaluated through system harmonic balanced simulation whether satisfying the specifications. Through pre-analysis of the system performance, specification of each component was defined. On the basis of that specification, Components which comprise the Digital Communication Satellite repeater were manufactured, and finally, the overall system performance check was made by integrating the components of Digital Communication Satellite transponder.

  • Recently, the usage of the satellite is increased more and more in the areas that are communication, weather, marine, optical, radar etc. The functions of the Satellite are evolving from passive transponder to active transponder by the developing of a technology. Advanced countries in satellites install the DCAMP for increase of bandwidth efficiency, improvement of QoS by interference rejection. DCAMP includes many digital components in order to implement functions. Thus, these kinds of active transponders consume much more power compared to passive transponder and then increase the heat. In this paper, we discuss the TVAC test result of DCAMP in EQM(Engineering Qualification Model) level. The paper shows the test results of digital gain control in order to verify DCAMP status under the TVAC test. In addition, the temperature and heat condition of main components from viewpoint of derating will be treated through the official environment test for qualification.

  • This study describes the design and implementation of EGSE for Digital Satellite Communication. The EGSE is a equipment that evaluates digital satellite communication and requires precise and accurate measurement. EGSE consists of a PLDIU and IIU(Instrument Interface Unit), Up/Down converter for SHF band, Modems to verify the Digital Satellite Communication. The EGSE was used for performance verification and space environment test such as thermal vacuum after developing digital satellite communication.

  • In this paper, Analyzed the multi-channel signal processing algorithms for digital-transponder. To analyze suitable multi-channel signal processing algorithms, compare algorithms about four criteria. Four criteria are as follows, perfect reconstruction, interference rejection, resource usage and power consumption. Analysis for each algorithm in accordance with these four criteria. then propose the multi-channel signal processing algorithms for digital satellite communication system.

  • Increased demand for military satellite communications system and due to the depletion of resources of existing satellite communications frequencies, Ka-band and EHF-band satellite communication systems is growing demand for development. As a result, the study of rain attenuation mitigation for Ka/EHF-band frequencies has been achieved. The method to compensate rain attenuation on Ka-band(20/30) using the signal power measurement function in Digital Transponder of Next Military Satellite has been proposed in this paper. This method is more effective than generally used method by Beacon and UPC(uplink power control) in giving the precise rain attenuation measurement and correction.

  • 전 세계 디지털 방송환경은 유럽 과 미국의 디지털 위성방송 서비스의 성공을 계기로 지상파 방송 및 케이블방송에서 빠르게 디지털화가 진행되고 있다. 특히 디지털 케이블 방송은 단일 인프라에서 방송과 인터넷 서비스의 동시 제공성 때문에 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 디지털 케이블 방송기술은 크게 유럽의 DVB-C/RC 표준과 미국의 Open Cable 표준으로 양분되며, 미들웨어의 경우도 MHP(유럽), OCAP(미국)으로 양분되어진다. 본 논문에서는 양대 디지털 케이블 방송기술을 비교 분석하고, 양방향 디지털 케이블 방송용 STB 여러 가지 요구사항을 기술하고 또한 이를 만족할 수 있는 케이블 셋탑박스를 구현하도록 하였다.

  • 방송의 디지털화가 실현되면서 다가오는 21세기는 새로운 방송문화의 창조가 기대된다. 디지털방송은 인프라스트럭처에서 서비스에 이르는 미디어의 변혁이며, 세계적인 규모로서 특히 지역의 구석구석까지 풍요로운 사회생활을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 이를 보급하기 위해서는 각국의 시책, 인프라의 정비, 기술규격의 표준화, 값싼 고기능 정보단말, 매력적인 서비스를 동시에 병행하여 유저에게 받아들여질 수 있는 프로세스를 창출하는 것이 필요하다. 디지털방송의 전개는 영상$\cdot$음성부호화 기술의 규격표준화를 계기로 위성$\cdot$지상파$\cdot$케이블의 각 전송매체에서 시작하여 현장감이 넘치는 고품질 텔레비전, 다채널, 멀티미디어정보서비스의 실현을 위해 일본$\cdot$미국$\cdot$유럽 각국에서 동시에 활발하게 추진중에 있다. 이와같은 디지털방송서비스를 실현하는데는 오디오 비쥬얼기술과 통신 및 컴퓨터를 융합한 고도의 기술개발이 필요하다. 미쓰비시전기(이하''동사''라 한다)는 새로운 시대를 열기 위하여 방송국시스템, 집배신네트워크, 가정용수신기, 디지털텔레비전용 CODEC, 기간 LSI 등의 개발에 적극적으로 대처하고 있다.

  • EQM Model Digital transponder applying the Korean's own designing and manufacturing technology has gone through a series of trials and errors during the development. In particular, lack of thermal designs expedience for the vacuum causes variety of errors in designing, assembling transponder and setting up the test at the first thermal vacuum test (TVAC). Since the first TVAC test could not accomplished its aims successfully, so the second TVAC should be performed as make up test with revised Digital transponder. In this paper, the defects that identified in the first TVAC are analyzed and applied solutions and its results at the second TVAC are presented. Using the lessons from the first and second TVAC, we will be able to make more reliable digital transponders in the next phase of project. In addition it also be useful as a reference when we design another satellite payloads.

A Study on the Improvement of Domestic Navigation Safety System: Focused on the Implementation of Korea Augmentation Satellite System (국내 항행안전시스템의 개선에 관한 연구: 한국형 정밀위성항법 보강시스템의 구축을 중심으로)

  • The study attempts to suggest potential problem and solutions expected in the process of implementing KASS, which is currently under development to improve the domestic navigation safety system, and to summarize improvement effects of domestic navigation safety system anticipated by the implementation of KASS. Challenges expected in the process of implementing KASS exists in four aspects: emotional, technical, cost, safety aspects. When KASS is implemented and operates, various benefits can be realized. Benefits include cost savings by not using navigation safety systems during takeoff and landing; reduction of flight delays and cancellations by removing airway congestion; increase of aircraft accommodation capacity; reduction of carbon emissions; preparation for future aviation demands and improvement of air transportation safety; and reduction of flight accidents. In conclusion, it is expected to enter into an era of more intense competition due to increased aviation demands. In order to survive in this competitive environment, early introduction of KASS is indispensable. Analysis results of this study are expected to provide reference information for academic research in this area. A possible future research topic include a study predicting the changes in the navigation safety systems introduced by KASS and proposing practical and useful ways to respond the changes.
