A Study of Zn-coating Weight in Hotdip Galvanizing Process (응용아연(응용亞鉛) 도금공정(鍍金工程)에서 아연부착량(亞鉛附着量)에 관한 연구)

  • This experiment intends to study Zn-coating weight through galvanixing process. A through examination has been carried out on the change of steel-composition, galvanizing-temperature, dipping-rime, Fe-loss when other factors were regular. Activation energy needed for Fe-loss was obtained and within this sample, the best condition which has influence on coating weight was found so as to reduce Fe-loss. As Fe-loss was diminidhed, the amount of product of Dross and Zn-using amount per total products could be reduced. The results of experiments are as follow. 1. Zn-coating thickness was increased by the rising Zn-bathtemperature and was the maximum at 8-minutes dipping time. 2. The coating weight was greatly influency by Si. As in other samples, the proportion of increasing was very rate after 20minutes. If the dipping time prolonged, the increasing amounts of Fe-loss are more greatly. 3. Activation Energy needed for Fe-loss was as follows Such numerical values were most equal to those of the activation energy which had influences on the growth of ${\gamma}$-phase. Gene Cloning and Expression of Trehalose Synthase from Thermus thermophilus HJ6 (Thermus thermophilus HJ6 유래 내열성 Trehalose Synthase의 유전자 클로닝 및 발현)

  • A hyperthermophilic bacteria (strain HJ6) was isolated from a hot springs located in the Arima-cho, Hyogo, Japan. The cells were long-rod type ($2-4{\mu}m$), about $0.4{\mu}m$ in diameter. The pH and temperature for optimal growth were 6.5 and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rDNA sequence and biochemical studies indicated that HJ6 belonged to the genus Thermus thermophilus (Tt). The gene encoding the Trehalose synthase (TS) was cloned and sequenced. The open reading frame (ORF) of the TtTS gene was composed of 2,898 nucleotides and encoded a protein (975 amino acids) with a predicted molecular weight of 110.56 kDa. The deduced amino acid sequence of TtTS showed 99% and 83% identities to the Thermus caldophilus TS and Meiothermus ruber TS, respectively. TtTS gene was expressed in Escherichia coli cells, and the recombinant protein was purified to homogeneity. The optimal temperature and pH for Trehalose synthase activity were found to be $80^{\circ}C$ and 7.5, respectively. The half-life of heat inactivation was about 40 min at $90^{\circ}C$. The maximum trehalose conversion rate of maltose into trehalose by the enzyme increased as the substrate concentration increased, and reached 55.7% at the maltose concentration of 500 mM, implying that the enzyme conversion was dependent of the substrate concentration.

  • In this paper, the states and parameters in a dynamic system are estimated by applying an Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). The UKF is widely used in various fields such as sensor fusion, trajectory estimation, and learning of Neural Network weights. These estimations are necessary and important in determining the stability of a mobile system, monitoring, and predictions. However, conventional approaches are difficult to estimate based on the experimental data, due to properties of non-linearity and measurement noises. Therefore, in this paper, UKF is applied in estimating the states and parameters needed. An experimental dynamic system has been set up for obtaining data and the experimental data is collected for parameter estimation. The measurement noises are primarily reduced by applying the Low Pass Filter (LPF). Given the simulation results, the estimated error rate is 39 percent more efficient than the results obtained using the Least Square Method (LSM). Secondly, the estimated parameters have an average convergence period of four seconds.

Reduction of floating Dross in the Zinc Bath (도금욕 부유드로스의 감소)

  • Dross formation in the zinc bath is inevitable under any condition as long as coating process on steel strip continues. Thus, bath aluminum and temperature are precisely managed to suppress the increase of dross. Also, excessive dross for normal coating process is generally eliminated physically by bubbling and skimming. Total amount of dross in the bath can be sometimes high enough to cause coating defect. On the other hand, local concentration of dross can make coating defect even with satisfactory level of total amount of dross. Reduction of dross in the bath was attempted by using ceramic foam filter made of mainly alumina. Dross in molten zinc was almost reduced to the levels of solubility of iron and aluminum in molten zinc at $450~460^{\circ}C$. Their solubility levels were confirmed by thermodynamic calculations or DEAL program. Two kinds of filters were tested for dross reduction. One was #20 ppi, porous per inch, and the other #30 ppi filter. Both were effective in reducing the bath dross to the solubility levels at the static state. Bath iron was reduced by 24 wt% and 19 wt% with #20 filter, and by 35 wt% and 29 wt% with #30 filter for GI and GA pot, respectively. Also, ceramic foam filter did not make any harm to the zinc bath composition after filtering test.

A Study of the Metal Recovery from the Aluminium Scrap (Al 스크랩으로부터 금속회수에 관한 연구)

  • In the preparatIon of reclaimed aluminium lllgot from alumimum scrap, the aluminium recovery was studied a as a function of the preliminary treatment of samples, addition of flux and melting atmosphere. AI dross is produced by an oxidation reaction at the surface of liquid metal. The recovery of AI metal increases u up to maximum 95% by adding salt up to 7%, The recovery of AI metal in the compacted chip bale without oil removal mcrease about 14% compared io non-compacted chip. In the case of the AI seed melting process, the recovery of Al metal of the crushed and compacted chip hale is 97%, In meltmg of alumimum scrap under the atmosphere of carbon and nitrogen gas, the recovery of AI metal increase, but it is decreased when the mixture of salt and carbon powder is added excessively.

  • Metal prices are rapidly rising due to increasing demand of metals and limited available resources according to the industrial requirement. As a result, securing a stable supply of these metal resources has been recognized as a core element of national competitiveness and sustained economic growth. In the case of magnesium and its alloys which are entirely depending on import, low-grade magnesium scraps from end-of-life vehicles and 3C(Camera, Computer, Communication) parts and magnesium wastes such as sludge and dross generated during melting process are hardly recycled. Accordingly, the development and commercialization of recycling technology of low-grade magnesium scrap is desperately needed to improve efficiency of resource circulation and to establish the required proprietary of resource metal supply and demand. In this study, papers and patents on recycling technologies of waste magnesium were analyzed. The range of search was limited in the open patents of USA (US), European Union (EP), Japan (JP), Korea (KR) and SCI journals from 1974 to 2012. Patents and journals were collected using key-words searching and filtered by filtering criteria. The trends of the patents and journals was analyzed by the years, countries, companies, and technologies.

Unsupervised Vortex-induced Vibration Detection Using Data Synthesis (합성데이터를 이용한 비지도학습 기반 실시간 와류진동 탐지모델)

  • Long-span bridges are flexible structures with low natural frequencies and damping ratios, making them susceptible to vibrational serviceability problems. However, the current design guideline of South Korea assumes a uniform threshold of wind speed or vibrational amplitude to assess the occurrence of harmful vibrations, potentially overlooking the complex vibrational patterns observed in long-span bridges. In this study, we propose a pointwise vortex-induced vibration (VIV) detection method using a deep-learning-based signalsegmentation model. Departing from conventional supervised methods of data acquisition and manual labeling, we synthesize training data by generating sinusoidal waves with an envelope to accurately represent VIV. A Fourier synchrosqueezed transform is leveraged to extract time-frequency features, which serve as input data for training a bidirectional long short-term memory model. The effectiveness of the model trained on synthetic VIV data is demonstrated through a comparison with its counterpart trained on manually labeled real datasets from an actual cable-supported bridge.

Preparation of High Purity α-Alumina from Aluminum Black Dross by Redox Reaction (알루미늄 블랙 드로스로부터 산화 환원반응을 이용한 고순도 알파 알루미나의 제조)

  • We investigate the effects of redox reaction on preparation of high purity ${\alpha}$-alumina from selectively ground aluminum dross. Preparation procedure of the ${\alpha}$-alumina from the aluminum dross has four steps: i) selective crushing and grinding, ii) leaching process, iii) redox reaction, and iv) precipitation reaction under controlled pH. Aluminum dross supplied from a smelter was ground to separate metallic aluminum. After the separation, the recovered particles were treated with hydrochloric acid(HCl) to leach aluminum as aluminum chloride solution. Then, the aluminum chloride solution was applied to a redox reaction with hydrogen peroxide($H_2O_2$). The pH value of the solution was controlled by addition of ammonia to obtain aluminum hydroxide and to remove other impurities. Then, the obtained aluminum hydroxide was dried at $60^{\circ}C$ and heat-treated at $1300^{\circ}C$ to form ${\alpha}$-alumina. Aluminum dross was found to contain a complex mixture of aluminum metal, aluminum oxide, aluminum nitride, and spinel compounds. Regardless of introduction of the redox reaction, both of the sintered products are composed mainly of ${\alpha}$-alumina. There were fewer impurities in the solution subject to the redox reaction than there were in the solution that was not subject to the redox reaction. The impurities were precipitated by pH control with ammonia solution, and then removed. We can obtain aluminum hydroxide with high purity through control of pH after the redox reaction. Thus, pH control brings a synthesis of ${\alpha}$-alumina with fewer impurities after the redox reaction. Consequently, high purity ${\alpha}$-alumina from aluminum dross can be fabricated through the process by redox reaction.

Structural Analysis of Milled Wood Lignins Isolated From Aspen Wood (Populus tremuloides L.) Biotreated by Ceriporiopsis subvermispora (Ceriporiopsis subvermispora 처리에 의한 아스펜 목재 리그닌의 구조 변화)

  • Aspen wood (Populus tremuloides, L.) was biotreated with Ceriporiopsis subvermispora for 1, 2, 4, and 6 weeks to observe the physical/chemical modification of wood components. Milled wood lignins (MWLs) isolated from each decayed wood were analyzed by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and nitrobenzene oxidation (NBO). As fungal treatment was progressed, lignin contents continuously decreased up to 20% after 6-week treatment. The lignin polymer could be fragmented to low-molecular phenolics, which make an enhancement of alkali solubility. Holocellulose contents were not affected severely during the period of fungal treatment, only reduction of 5~6% compared to the control. Xylose contents were decreased gradually from 23.4% to 18% after 6 weeks, whereas alpha-cellulose remained almost unchanged. Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) indicates that molecular weight of lignin undergoes a slight decrement for 4 weeks of fungal treatment. Nitrobenzene oxidation revealed that total yield of NBO products of lignins were lowered ca 20% after fungal treatment. Sum of syringaldehyde and syringic acid are remarkably decreased. However, increment of sum of vanillin and vanillic acid was surprisingly observed. These results work as indirect evidence that a specific lignolytic reaction, maybe selective demethoxylaytion of S-lignin, can occur during fungal treatment of aspen wood by C. subvermispora.

  • So far, the Studio Ghibli's major masterpieces, and have been studied extensively from mythical and psychological perspectives due to the films' intrinsic symbolism within their characters and events. However, there have been insufficient in-depth research on the types of love the two works have. Therefore, this study will focus on how the types of love in the two animations mirror the concept of love in Plato's theory of Eros through the analysis of two films' characters. The desire for memory and recovery can be seen in , and glimpses of each phase of aim towards changes in physical appearance can be shown in . These describe the function and the purpose of Eros that Plato states in Socrates' terms in Phaedrus and Symposium. Plato ultimately defined Eros as a spirit that leads to the world of Ideas and suggested the five stages of love that are divided in accordance with the ultimate purpose and attitude of mankind towards Eros. The cognition area, changes in appearance of the characters and spatial ranks in and critically reveal such core concepts of the theory of Eros. It is noteworthy that the two works show the origin of the most universal ideology of the West. These two animation films are particularly significant in terms of that they reflect the western epistemology while covering exclusive and covert ethnic emotions.
