  • A full three-dimensional thermo-coupled rigid-viscoplastic finite element method and the currently developed microstructural evolution system which includes semi-empirical equations suggested by different research groups were used together to form an integrated system of process and micro- structure simulation of hot rolling. The distribution and time histroy of the momechanical variables such as temperature, strain, strain rate, and time during pass and between passes were obtained from the finite element analysis of multipass hot rolling processes. The distribution of metallurgical variables were calculated on the basis of instantaneous thermomechanical data. For the verification of this method the evolution of microstructure in plate rolling and shape rolling was simulated and their results were compared with the data available in the literature. Consequently, this approach makes it possible to describe the realistic evolution of microstructure by avoiding the use of erroneous average value and can be used in CAE of multipass hot rolling.

  • This paper is concerned with the investigation of the structural behavior of waffle structure. Parametric variation on waffle floor thickness, main beam depth and column sizes are imposed to study the effects on mode shapes and natural frequencies of waffle structures. Comparisons between FEM models using shell and 3D-solid elements have also been made. The analysis result has shown that the mode frequencies increase with i) increase in main beam depth at level 2 and ii) decrease in waffle slab thickness at level 3. Both 3D and 2D model shown similar mode shapes. Besides, there is a consistent difference in mode frequencies between 3D and 2D model ranging from 25% to 36%.

  • In the study, we analyzed the collision characteristics of a so-called arch-type submarine cable protector by considering the changes in drop heights of a stock anchor and material models for concrete and steel reinforcing bars. We considered plastic kinematics model and Johnson-Holmquist Concrete model for the concrete and linear elastic model and plastic kinematics model for the reinforcing bars. The drop heights of 2-ton stock anchor were selected as 3, 5, and 8.83m, respectively. ANSYS, a finite element analysis program, was used for the collision analysis. To save computational time, we converted those drop heights into initial velocities by the principle of energy conservation. From the sensitivity of the material models on the drop height changes, it is shown that the collision response of the reinforcing bars is sensitive firstly on the steel models and secondly on the concrete models, while the collision response of the concrete is sensitive only on the concrete models.

  • The spindle is the main component in machine tools. The static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle directly affect the machining accuracy of workpieces. The characteristics of the spindle depend on the shaft size, bearing span, built-in motor location, and so on. Therefore, the appropriate selection of these parameters is important to improve the spindle characteristics. This paper presents the analysis of the static and dynamic characteristics and optimization design of a 40,000-rpm high-speed spindle. Statistical analysis for optimization and finite element analysis were performed. This study uses the response surface method to optimize the objective function and design factors. The targets are the natural frequency and displacement. The design factors are the shaft length, shaft diameter, bearing span, and motor location. The optimized design provides better results than the initial model, and these results are expected to improve the static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle.

  • Joints, fasteners or connected parts frequently have a significant effect on the dynamical behavior of assembled mechanical structures. Therefore, the analytical prediction of structural responses depends on the accuracy of joint modeling. This paper deals with the formulation and analysis of dynamic mechanism for joint flexibilities whose relevant magnitudes of stiffnesses are investigated by using linear and torsional springs. The equation of motion is derived by using a generic joint in the middle of clamped-clamped beam. A reanalysis due to changes in magnitudes of joint stiffnesses is based on the reduced analysis where the binomial series terms are used as basis vectors. The solution procedures are straightforward and the method can be readily used with a general finite element method. The computational effort needed by this approach is usually much smaller than the effort needed for complete vibration analysis. Two numerical examples show that accurate results are obtained efficiently by reducing the number of degree in the reduced model.

  • In this paper, dynamic modeling of hull structure including surface-bonded piezoelectric composite actuator was developed and structural vibration control performance was evaluated. Cylindrical shell structure with end-caps was considered as a host structure which could be used as a simple model of fuselage of aircraft and underwater vehicles. An advanced piezoelectric composite, macro-fiber composite(MFC), which has been developed in NASA Langley Research Center was applied for the effective structural vibration control. MFC has great flexibility by using piezoceramic fiber sheet and enhanced piezoelectric effect for in-plane motion by utilizing interdigitated electrode. Governing Equations were derived from the finite element model and modal characteristics were investigated. Modal test was conducted to verify the finite element model. Optimal controller was designed and implemented for the evaluation of vibration control performance. Structural vibration was controlled effectively by applying proper control input to the piezoelectric actuators.

이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. • In this paper, the basic study on the design of the flexible keel of the energy-storage prosthetic foot was performed in order to Improve the walking performance and Increase the activities of the below knee amputees. Based on the analysis of the anthropometric data and the normal gait on two dimensional sagittal plane available In the literature, we presented a model of the basic structure of the flexible keel of the prosthetic foot. The model of the basic structure was composed of the simple beams, and linear rotational spring and damper. Laminated carbon fiber-reinforced composites were selected as the material of the basic structure model of the flexible keel In order to apply the high strength and light weight materials to the basic structure of the flexible keel of the prosthetic foot. The recoverable strain energy In response to the change of beam shape was calculated bur the finite element analysis and it was suggested that the change of beam shape could be the design variable in flexible keel design. The simulation process was systematically designed by using orthogonal array table in order to design the flexible keel structure which could store the more recoverable strain energy. finite element analysis was carried but according to the design of simulations by using the finite element program ABAQUS and the flexible keel structure of the energy-storage prosthetic foot was obtained from the analysis of variance(ANOVA). The dynamic simulation model of the prosthetic walking using the flexible keel structure was made and the dynamic analysis was carried but during one walk cycle. Based on the above results, an effective design process was presented for the development of the prosthetic fool system.

  • This paper presents the dynamical responses of the plate girder bridge subjected to moving load by experimental method. The upper slab of the plate girder bridges is modelled to the plate element and the girder to the beam element. The small-scaled vehicle model is manufactured as moving load and the acryl-bridge model as the plate-girder bridge. The dynamic responses of the plate-girder bridges under the moving load are obtained by the strain gauges, displacement measurements, accelerometer, and dynamic strain measurement. The maximum dynamic responses from the measured data are compared with those from the finite element method. The experimental model test can be used to obtain to the dynamic responses of the plate-girder bridges.
