A compact excimer laser was developed with coaxial type which the one line cross flow fan is only used. At 1 kHz repetitive operation, average power of KrF laser is 56 watt. In this paper, Design parameter and CR characteristic are investigated for attainment of the compact 1 kHz excimer laser. We have obtained overall efficiency of 1.2% with KrF laser gas. At this time, CR and the variation of laser output are 2.97, $\pm$9%. Laser gas volume and active volume are 10 liter, 1.8(H)$\times$1.2(W)$\times$30(L)=64.8 ㎤, respectively.

Methods for evaluating the added masses of square and hexagonal structures with fluid gap are presented. For a sufficiently small fluid gap, an analytical expression for the added mass is found using the method of matched asymptotic expansion. Experimental data and numerical results using finite element method are also obtained for various sizes of fluid gap. It is shown that added masses increase in inverse proportion to the fluid gap as it becomes smaller. Experimental data, theoretical and numerical results are in good agreement.

The various sizes of wires are attached to the outside of the inner tube in a double pipe heat exchanger to enhance the thermal performance. The diameters of the wires range from 0.5mm to 1.6mm while the pitches are chosen between 5mm and 50mm. Experiments have been performed with the range of Reynolds numbers from 15000 to 30000 in annular space where air flows. The friction factors are increased by 1.5 to 4.5 times depending on the sizes and the pitches of the wires. However, the Nusselt numbers are increased by the factors of 1.8 to 2.8 within this experimental range. It is suggested that there should be an optimum configuration rendered when the weighting values of the heat transfer promotion and the pumping power are given.

This paper proposes a method for recognition of traffic signs using wavelet transform and shape information from the segmented traffic sign regions. It first segments traffic sign candidate regions by connected component algorithm from binary images, obtained by utilizing the RGB color ratio of each pixel in the image, and then extracts actual traffic sign regions based on their symmetries on X- and Y-axes. In the recognition stage, it utilizes shape information including moment edge correlogram and the number of crossings which concentric circular patterns from region center intersects with frequency information extracted by wavelet transform It finally performs recognition by measuring similarity with the templates in the database. The experimental results show the validity of the proposed method from geometric transformations and environmental factors.

This Experimental study concerns the characteristics of vortex flow in a concentric annulus with a diameter ration of 0.52, whose outer cylinder is stationary and inner one is rotating. Pressure losses and skin-friction coefficients have been measured for fully developed flow of bentonite-water solution(5%) when the inner cylinder rotates at the speed $0{\sim}400rpm$. The results of present study reveal the relation of the bulk flow Reynolds number Re and Rossby number $R_o$ With respect to the skin friction coefficients. The effect of rotation on the skin friction coefficient is significantly dependent on the flow regime. In all flow regime, the skin friction coefficient is increased by the inner cylinder rotation. The critical (bulk flow) Reynolds number $Re_c$ decreases as the rotational speed increases. Thus, the rotation of the inner cylinder promotes the onset of transition due to the excitation of Taylor vortices.

The present experimental and numerical investigations are performed for the characteristics of transitional flow in a concentric annulus with a diameter ratio of 0.52, whose outer cylinder is stationary and inner one rotating. The flow field of an annulus has been numerically solved using a finite volume method. The pressure losses and Skin-friction coefficients have been measured for the fully developed flow of water and $0.2{\%}$ aqueous solution of sodium carboximethy1 cellulose (CMC), respectively at inner cylinder rotational speed of $0{\~}600rpm$. The transitional flow has been examined by the measurement of pressure losses to reveal the relation of the Reynolds and Rossby numbers with the skin-friction coefficients. The occurrence of transition has been checked by the gradient changes of pressure losses and skin-friction coefficients with respect to the Reynolds numbers. Consequently the critical(axial-flow) Reynolds number decreases as the rotational speed increases. Thus, the rotation of inner cylinder promotes the early occurrence of transition due to the onset of Taylor vortices.

Today optical communication industry is developed; demand of optical communication part is increased. ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule is very significant part which determines transmission efficiency and quality of information in the optical communication part by connector of optical fibers. Being different from metal grinding, material removal through brittle fracture plays an important role in ZrO$_2$ ceramic grinding. Most of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule processes are grinding which request high processing precision. Particularly, concentricity and cylindricity of inner and outer diameter are very important. The co-axle grinding process of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule is to make its concentricity all of uniform before centerless grinding. Surface integrity of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule is affected by grinding conditions, and equipment. In this study, surface integrity of workpiece according to such as a change of grinding wheel speed, feed rate, regulating wheel speed and grinding force is investigate to improve the concentricity and roundness of ZrO$_2$ ceramic ferrule from many experiments. Thus, if possible be finding highly efficient and quality grinding conditions.

This experimental study concerns the characteristics of a transitional flow in a concentric annulus with a diameter ratio of 0.52, whose outer cylinder is stationary and inner one rotating. The pressure drops and skin-friction coefficients have been measured for the fully developed flow of water and that of glycerine-water solution (44%) at a inner cylinder rotational speed of $0{\sim}600$ rpm, respectively. The transitional flow has been examined by the measurement of pressure drops and the visualization of flow field, to reveal the relation of the Reynolds and Rossby numbers with the skin-friction coefficients and to understand the flow instability mechanism. The present results show that the skin-friction coefficients have the significant relation with the Rossby numbers, only for laminar regime. The occurrence of transition has been checked by the gradient changes of pressure drops and skin-friction coefficients with respect to the Reynolds numbers. The increasing rate of skin-friction coefficient due to the rotation is uniform for laminar flow regime, whereas it is suddenly reduced for transitional flow regime and, then, it is gradually declined for turbulent flow regime. Consequently, the critical (axial-flow) Reynolds number decreases as the rotational speed increases. Thus, the rotation of inner cylinder promotes the early occurrence of transition due to the excitation of taylor vortices.

A numerical study is made of a flow in a cylinder with a rotating grooved endwall disk. The aim is to describe differences in the flow fields when there is concentrically-grooved obstacle characterized by amplitude(a) and wave number(N). The Reynolds number(Re) is varied from $10^{3}$ to $10^{4}$ and the aspect ratio(Ar) fixed to 1.0 for the most part of the simulation. For the various cases of amplitude(a) and wave number(N), numerical results are acquired. As the endwall groove roughness increases until certain limit, the interior azimuthal velocity component(v) increases drastically. But over the limit, the swirl motion chararcterized by velocity v decreases and finally it approaches much alike Ar=1.0-a case. The reason of activating swirl motion is based on increasing of torque transported by endwall disk. Torque coefficients($C_{T}$) are aquired for the various (a,N,Re) combinations and the limiting phenomena of swirl motion activation is explained.
