  • This study was a descriptive correlation investigation that assessed the caring burden of caregivers who care for dementia and examined the effects of the burden on the somatic symptoms and health perception. The subjects were 174 caregivers and data collection was conducted from April 1 to 30, 2018. The data were analyzed t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. A Scheffe test was used for post-analysis. The caring burden and somatic symptoms were found to be mid-high and moderate, respectively. The health was perceived to be not good, and the subjective awareness of well-being appeared to be low. The caring burden showed a positive correlation with the somatic symptoms(r=.157, p<.05), and the somatic symptoms showed a positive correlation with the perceived health(r=.220, p<.01). As a result of the study, caregiving burden of caregivers showed the factors influencing their physical and mental health status, it is suggested to carry out research to find out whether there is a difference in burden of care according to the working place of caregiver. In addition, it is necessary to develop a tool to measure the burden of caregivers and to carry out repeated research.

  • A new construction methodology has been proposed on a scientific basis to reason a rational explanation for the structure and the present configuration of Chum-Sung-Dae. This is because there is no way to otherwise explain the gap between our expectation that the people in Shilla are assumed to be and the problems, such as the use of a temporary supporting structure including falsework, the use of a conveying device for stonework and the practice of soil fill, raised when the construction method in nowadays is applied to the structure. Furthermore, it is because the questions, such as the difference of an azimuth angle between the southward opening and the square podium, the skewed circular plan in layers of the body, misalignment between neighboring layers of the body, disagreement between the inclination due to slight sidesway and the eccentricity in each layer of the circular body, perfectly aligned vertical and horizontal joints and the existence of soil fill, raised from the present configuration of Chum-Sung-Dae, also require a reasonable explanation based on scientific evidences, if any. Therefore, the proposed new construction methodology, in which the soil hill outside as well as the soil fill inside the Chum-Sung-Dae may have been utilized as a temporary scaffolding system for construction, is the highly probable one that the builders of Chum-Sung-Dae might have inevitably employed. The existence of great tombs, scattered in Hwang-Nam-Dong close to Chum-Sung-Dae, implies that the people of Shilla might have accepted the proposed new construction methodology as a natural one.

  • Orthognathic surgery of skeletal Class III malocclusion improves oral function and facial appearance. The greater amount of skeletal discrepancy, the greater amount of teeth movement required for decompensation, and this often causes pathological changes in periodontal tissue especially in lower anterior dentition. We made a Top-Down treatment plan with personalized analysis using Face Hunter, Plane System and ARCUS Digma II, in order to resolve severe mobility and cross-bite of lower anterior teeth for 49-year-old female patient who had undergone orthognathic surgery 20 years ago due to skeletal Class III malocclusion and mandibular prognathism. Lower anterior teeth were extracted and alveoloplasty was done. After healing of the wound, immediate loading was conducted immediately after implant placement. Final restorations were fabricated Zirconia using CAD/CAM, and inserted intraorally screw-retained type. During 6-month follow-up, no abnormal episodes of restorations were observed, and obtained satisfactorily both of functional and esthetic outcomes.

  • The movement of fish to the upper and the lower parts of a mountain stream was investigated based on the installation of specific types of structures within the stream. The results indicated that as the flow rate increases after a rain, the height of the drop in an open-type structure, such as a concrete box, is decreased so that the floating fishes, such as the Chinese minnow fish, move relatively easily from the upper to the lower parts and from the lower to the upper parts of the stream. In contrast, the fishes released from an upper point of a wall-type structure with <1 m, such as rocks drop works and stone masonry for stream-grade stabilization, were trapped in the lower part of the stream and, even after the rainy season, it was difficult for the fish to move from the lower to the upper parts of the stream. In particular, the barrier-type structures ${\geq}3m$ limit the movement of fish, even when there are few drainage holes at the lower end of the dam, and there is no space for the fishes to communicate with each other, even when the flow rate is high; therefore, although the fish are active, they are restricted to move according to the type and characteristics of the structures. When installing structures in a mountain stream, the height of the structure must be low enough to allow the fish to communicate with each other or an open-type structure must be installed. The fish habitat and water conditions within the stream must be considered when designing the type and height of the in-stream structures.

  • This study was conducted from 2017 to 2018 to determine habitat aspects of Acheilognathus signifier, an endangered species reintroduced (2010~2012) to Heukcheon Stream, a tributary of the Hangang River, Korea. A total of 329 individuals were collected in 2017 (two surveys) and 723 individuals were collected in 2018 (four surveys) at about 5 km habitat area, including the discharge station. A. signifier's habitat was about 0.4 to 1.2 meters deep in slow water flow upstream of the discharge area. It was a place with many boulders and cobbles. The spawning period was estimated from April to June in terms of spawning behavior and collected juvenile size. Sex ratio of females (438) and males (412) was 1 : 0.94. Estimated age of A. signifier based on their total length distribution during the spawning period (April) indicated that 1-, 2-, 3-year old groups and more than 4-year-old group were 32~43 mm, 50~61 mm, 62~75 mm, and 76~89 mm, respectively. Age-specific composition costs differed depending on the timing of the collection. They were relatively high in the order of first-year (juvenile)>third-year> and fourth-year or higher, showing a stable age structure. Thus, A. signifier reintroduced to Heukcheon Stream has successfully settled down and formed a stable population, showing a tendency to proliferate.

  • We conducted taxonomical investigations based on morphological characteristics, fruit morphology, and literature research on the tribe Potentilleae (Rosaceae) in Korea covering seven genera and 24 species. The style position on the ovary and the shape of style were useful characteristics for the classification of subtribal and generic levels in the tribe Potentilleae. The subtribe Fragariinae is characterized by subbasal or lateral style on the ovary and anthers with one theca. The subtribe Potentillinae has a subterminal style on the ovary, except for Argentina, which presents a subterminal and lateral style and anthers with two thecae. These results support the recent taxonomic recognition that i) the tribe Potentilleae consists of two subtribes, and ii) genera such as Dasiphora, Comarum, and Sibbaldianthe sometimes included in Potentilla s.l. are treated as independent genus. In the subtribe Potentillinae, Argentina, which has been treated as Potentilla, is supported as a distinct genus according to the characteristics of the subterminal and lateral style position and the ventral stipular auricles. In Fragaria, F. nipponica subsp. chejuensis, which has generally small leaves and a limited distribution only on Hallasan Mt., is supported by treatment as an endemic species. Duchesnea chrysantha is distinguished from D. indica by the characteristics of light green or yellowish green leaves, thin and somewhat membranous leaflets, and broad ovate or obovate leaflets. Each complex of P. dickinsii and P. chinensis remains unresolved with regard to controversy over the taxonomic circumscription due to their external morphological variations. Additional taxonomical research and molecular population studies are required for a more in-depth understanding of the tribe Potentilleae in Korea.

  • History education is of growing significance in relation with minority group's identity issue in an irreversible trend of globalization. Archives and the cultural institution can be a major player in the reforming the history education as conducted in Britain. This paper deals with the Moving Here project led by The National Archives. The vision of the project is to overcome barriers to the direct involvement of minority ethnic groups in recording their own history of migration and to ensure this history is passed on to the next generation through schools. More than 200,000 digitised images and documents in the Moving Here have been selected from the 28 content partners' collections. In addition, TNA and the regional partners worked with minority ethnic groups to record their culture and stories. In doing so, real and lasting relation between the community and the ethnic groups has developed. The outputs of the project such as films and stories were distributed free for regional schools. The School section of the Moving Here provides a range of education resources. One of the most impressive outcome of the project is the minority's desire to have their own archives for identity and self-esteem.

  • We investigated the environmental conditions of natural habitats of T. nuda. The species was found on rocky northern hills ($60{\sim}90^{\circ}$) near the stream where the sea level ranges 95~145m. The average annual temperature of the habitats was lower than other places of South Korea. The differences of the lowest and the highest of the year was significantly huge than any other places. Plants were growing at the edge of stream that water reached but not submerged. Most of plants were found in North, Northeast or Northwest. It is suggested that these species require moist and low sunlight for growth. The common vegetation along with the T. nuda includes Mukdenia rossii, Selaginella rossii, Calamagrostis epigeios, and Rhododendron yedoense f. poukhanense. The dominance values and sociability of T. nuda were below 3 in all studied habitats and the variance of the number of individuals among the habitats was very high. As the optimum habitats for the T. nuda are decreasing due to the extreme precipitation patterns. It is also expected that the number of T. nuda will be decreased in the future. Therefore restoration activity in situ or ex situ must be conducted to conserve this valuable plant species.

  • Following the uprise of the Korean Wave, Korean big entertainment corporations, such as SM or YG, are selling cultural products through their subsidiaries. These cultural products or 'cultural goods' are using artists' images of the entertainments for various products including stationary, consumer electronics, cosmetics, snacks, etc, to produce significant profits. We focused on the level of marketing strategy that affects the intention of purchase of those cultural goods. Specifically, we classified three levels including product-level(quality and design), brand-level(price and brand name), and corporate-level(merchandising and sales methods) and investigated if consumer nationality has any effects on the relationship. Based on the survey results performed by 220 Korean and Chinese college students, we found that Chinese consumers generally have higher intention to purchase on Korean cultural goods. Especially, Chinese consumers showed that their purchase intention is affected by price and brand name strategies, thus we found that they are more sensitive to brand-level marketing strategies.

  • A lava dome and sheet lava flow can be observed at the seashore of Aewol, Jeju island. The cylindrical lobes are characterized by a concentric structure consisting of a massive core and radial joints. Columnar joints with different thickness between the upper and lower parts are developed in the sheet lava flow around the rock salt field in Goeomri. The upper part of the columnar joints is uneven in shape, and has a diameter of 120-150 cm. The lower part of the columnar joints is hexagonal and pentagonal in shape, and has a diameter of about 60 cm. The cylindrical lobes can be divided into two groups based on size and shape. One is a megalobe, with a semicircular outline and a maximum diameter of 30 m. The other is a circular lobe with a diameter of less than 10 m. The columns in the radial joints have hexagonal and pentagonal cross sections and gradually increasing diameter, outward from the core, to a size of 80-120 cm at the rim. The concentric structure observed in the cylindrical lavas is attributable to a combination of four factors. The first is a circular crack caused by the decrease of the temperature and density difference between the inside and outside of the cylindrical lava flow. The second is a concentric chisel mark of the radial joints, which formed at the same time as the radial joints. The third is a flow band, which is a trace left in a round passage when lava flows through. The fourth is a vesicular band formed in a cave by gas bubbles escaping from the lava flow.
