It Is time to spur on the activation of the school library based on 'The Master Plan for Promoting School Library : Making Good School Library' launched by the Korean Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development in 2002. This study is about the introduction of reading motivation and incentive programs in the school libraries in the USA. The schools in the USA have been developing activation methods of the school library through various reading motivation and incentive programs. As a matter of fact, these reading motivation and incentive programs have been expanded by the commercial assistance, computerized tests, state supports, and each school's programs based on the national reading promotions. Consequently, this research is trying to find ways of activation for the school libraries in Korea through the reading motivation and incentive programs of the school libraries in the USA.

Knowing about each student's reading motivation is important to school librarians in producing life-long readers in their students This research asks the questions. are there any significant differences of reading motivation between grade level gender and birth order? and what kinds of reading motivation can encourage students to read books? The questionnaire method composed of 25 items was used for 278 students. The sample consisted of 142 students in 2nd, 136 in 5th grade, 140 boys and 138 girls. and 119 first born and 159 other birth order students. Finding shows that significant differences were observed for the reading motivation in 2nd and 5th grade, no significant differences between boys and girls. and no significant differences between birth order students were observed. It concludes with recommendations of reading motivation to each student or group.

현장에서 학생을 지도하는 교사들은 독서의 중요성과 독서지도의 필요성을 인식하면서도 독서지도에 많은 부담을 느끼고 있다. 또한 획일적인 독후감 쓰기를 강요함으로써 많은 초등학교 학생들 또한 독서를 감동이나 즐거움이 아닌 교과목의 한 과제로 여기고 있다. 본 연구는 초등학생들의 독서 흥미를 유발하기 위하여 독후 감상활동을 자유롭게 할 수 있는 홈페이지의 장을 마련하고 웹상의 독서지도를 통해 일선 학교 교사들의 독서지도 일반화 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

This study investigated the effects of an Augmented Reality(AR) implemented book on flow of reading, interest in history, and acquisition of history knowledge. Perceptions of AR infused books were investigated as well. Researchers provided a history book implementing AR and the same book without any AR content respectively to an experiment group(n=15) and a control group(n=15) composed of $3^{rd}$ and $4^{th}$ grade elementary school children. Results indicate that AR implemented reading had a positive effect on the flow of reading and interest in history, but not on acquisition of history knowledge. Also, AR-based contents were attractive to learners due to its amusing characters, sound, realistic visual motions, and vivid three-dimensional effects. Lastly, students preferred amusing interesting characters, lengthier animations and subtitles, and AR that could be seen without holding smart devices for a long while.

The purpose of this study is to explore ways to get children in the information age of today to develop good reading habits and make reading a central part of their lives from an early age. The results of the study are as follows : 1. First of all, it is important for children to gain the habit of reading books from their early childhood during activities such as eating food, sleeping, studying, playing, going errands and watching TV etc. 2. The habituation of reading is formed by repeating and reenforcing the habit once it is acquired. Then we will do it easily, unconsciously and automatically. 3. Habituation is formed by the course of formalizing, training, reenforcing, and motivating like other daily activities. 4. The prerequisites of habituation for reading are the early integration of reading books, putting reading books at the core of curriculum, developing an interest in reading, motivating to read books, giving good rewards for reading, and simply encouraging reading. 5. Lastly, other ways to form good reading habits are inducing interests in books and reading books, and reading in the course of learning.

This study aims to examine and analyse 'Stories from the Web(SFW)' in order to assist the development of reading programs for children and young adults in Korea. The British public libraries operate a reading program of 'Stories from the Web(SFW)' which is a web-based reading program for children 0 to 14 years old. SFW is not a reading program that enables children to read books on-line. but motivates children to read books in public libraries.

Now, more than any other time, education experts in Korea are focusing on the importance of reading. Based on this circumstance. it is necessary to introduce and develop reading assessments in the library and information science. The research introduces reading assessment tools from a psychological standpoint for the purpose of increasing reading efficiency through literature reviews. There are four categories reading attitude, interest, motivation and perception on reading. Also the research presents the suggestion to make a new reading assessment tool at a later time. When developing reading assessment tools from a psychological standpoint, it is necessary to establish the items through which how a student feels himself or herself as a reader, and subsequently how teachers, parents, and friends feel the student as a reader. Besides establishing of these appropriate items. a developer should provide directions for administration and interpretation.

In this study, we have accomplished content area reading activities for pre-service teachers since 2003. These activities were guided each year to students of the college of education. We proceeded our content area reading activities by four courses. Four courses consisted of reading the book, discussion of reading, announcement of the results, reminding announcement. After content area reading activities, the pre-service teachers have learned naturally the knowledge and ideas that will help in teaching mathematics. And they have shared and expand their knowledge and ideas with colleagues. Moreover the pre-service teachers came to realize that content area reading is very important in pre-service mathematics teacher education. In the study, it was suggested that there is a need to provide opportunities to experience the content area reading for pre-service teachers in mathematics teacher education.

The purpose of this study is to survey the reading reality of comic books for learning in elementary schools, to research the perceptions of students and their parents to reading comic books for learning, and to suggest the methods which librarians and teachers make use of the comic books for learning in their classes. For doing this, firstly 3 elementary schools were chosen and every school, 4 classes from 3rd year to 6th year, total 12 classes' students and their parents were searched. As the results of this, it's revealed that most of students have experiences of reading the comic books which are circulated in school libraries, etc., and both groups of students and their parents thought the comic books to help their academic achievement, and they have the thought that the reading comic books induce themselves to read the other normal books for more informations. It's suggested that the comic books for learning should be thought of the important media for teaching learning, and be utilized as the media for normal reading attitude s and habits of students in elementary school libraries.
