The purpose of this study is to survey the events which school libraries have practiced for reading education and to do the suggestions on the revitalization of events which are related to the reading education. The results of this study is like following; 1) Teacher-librarians should be employed to school libraries. 2) School libraries ought to make a plan for the events which are related to the reading and libraries and practice it. 3) School libraries have to inform the news according to reading education events through the webpage of school libraries. 4) The budget for reading education should be obtained. 5) The administrative assistance is needed for the reading education events. 6) Teacher-librarian should make the plans for reading education based on the social memorials.

A number of studies have emphasized the importance and values of reading in character education. However, there is no tool or framework for developing character education program. If teacher librarian to develop a character education program by reading should be preceded the framework for a comprehensive and systematic approach. The framework for character education program by reading is required to develop a program. The framework must be considered with a character factor and reading elements. The purpose of this study is to establish a framework that will help teacher librarian to develop a character education program by reading. This study analyzed on construction elements of character, reading material for character education, reading strategies, teaching methods. Then, this study propose a framework for developing character education program based on the analysis information. The proposed framework in this study consists of construction elements of character, reading material for character education, reading strategies, teaching methods.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze and look for improvement points of the ordinance for school libraries and reading education in Korea. For the purpose, the writer analyzed 15 ordinances of metropolitan city and provincial offices of eduction. The ordinance content were examined in terms of obligation of superintendents of education and principals, committees and administration department, reading promotion and education, and school libraries. According to the examination the writer discussed about effectiveness enhancement, operating integrated type ordinance, connections of school libraries and reading education and curriculum, and reflection of information literacy education.

In this paper, we present a Web-based reading system. The existing Web-based reading systems have not provided adequate interactivity among students, teachers and parents so that those systems could not achieve good effects. Our system is designed and implemented to reinforce interactivity using advanced communication technologies. The design principle is based on the constructivism so that we let students learn for themselves. Our system also provide various evaluation processes for enhancing students' understanding.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the different types of reading instruction programs and reading methods influenced the creative ability and the self-directed learning ability, They were divided into two groups. Class A was taught to use 'The Author-Reader-Inquirer Cycle'. which concentrated on the writing-centered reading program model. Class B was taught to use 'The Literature Circles'. which concentrated on the speaking and listening-centered reading program model. After reading instruction. the creative ability and the self-directed learning ability increased. The writing-centered reading instruction was more effective than the speaking and listening-centered reading instruction. The reading instruction during the long-period was more effective than that during the short-period. The 'intensive reading' among the reading methods had a significant influence on the creative ability and the self-directed learning ability.

The purpose of this study is to explore ways for boosting reading education at school. Research object is research and practice activities of 'Society for School Library' at Gyeongnam area. Research method is case study. Data for this study were collected by interview with 'Society for school library' members through half structured survey, their documents and homepage site database. The results of analyzing the activities of 'Society for School Library' were explored reading education's outcomes and prospects that performed impassionedly by them. It suggests ways for boosting of reading education at school that under any circumstances reading education at school must connect with school library and the necessity of ties and collaborations with organizations inside and outside of school.

This study focuses on whether early childhood education institutes operate libraries and find out if those environments are suitable for reading, and to investigate on educations on reading by utilizing libraries and how it's perceived by surveying and analyzing. As a result, it was found that there were higher rate of institutions with active libraries and as for the reasons for needing an assigned librarian were found to be in the order of 'to educate young children for reading' and 'for the systematic management of books'. Points of necessity for the efficient reading education was found to be 'establishing of staff system with professional knowledge' and 'development of reading education programs.'

This research purpose to investigate aspect of reading movement and readers' interest in the period of 2000's, This is succession research that is the Japanese Occupation Period, after release, the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s. Through such series, namly, reading phenomenon analyzing comparison, is to find present address of reading popularization movement and reading education. In main discourse, First, investigated reading movement, in the period of 2000's(1. the reading movement of library and public institution, 2. the reading movement of bookstore and medium, and several organization's, 3. student reading movement and school reading education). Second, readers' interest observed in the period of 2000's.(1. ordinary readers' interest, 2. student readers' interest). If we correct judgment about reading phenomenon from now. It will be foundation that unfold reading education more effectively.

This study aims to analyse the research areas and trends of reading (reading instruction) abroad in the respect of LIS, and suggest future research tasks. First, I reviewed the controlled keywords in SU field of LISTA database and the entries of DDC 23, and identified the research areas of reading and reading instruction in overseas. Second, I analysed the research trends of this field by applying a intellectual structure analysis on 2,115 research articles (1914~2014) retrieved from a representative database in the areas of Library and Information Science (LISTA). Third, Based on the results of these analysis, I suggested the future research tasks of this field in the domain of library and information science.

I have discussed some problems of distortion in reading education. I think we must give careful consideration to the true meaning of reading to overcome the matter. From the position of the readers I have looked into the true meaning or reading and cases of reading programs. I presented the directions for a new reading program.
