In order to observe the wake interaction between tip vortices generated by a two-bladed rotor with slightly different pitch angles, the velocity components of the tip vortices were measured by using a two-dimensional LDV system. It was observed that the swirl velocity components of the ensuing blade deviated from the Vatistas' n = 2 vortex model and the axial velocity components of the preceding blade deviated from the Gaussian profile. It was also found that in the wake-age range of $200^{\circ}$ to $240^{\circ}$, the filament of the ensuing blade tip vortex was stretched as result of the closing in of two vortices. The results from these observations suggest the possibility that a similar wake interaction is generated in actual rotor blades, especially, in the ones with articulated hubs.

Experiments were performed in a two-phase swirling spray facility that has been described elsewhere. Measurements of spray transport and drop size distribution are analyzed over wide ranges of air to liquid mass flow ratios, utilizing four different internal mixing pneumatic nozzles. The spatial distributions of mean velocities. fluctuating velocities, and velocity-diameter correlation were quantitatively analyzed. Also, the exponential correlation curves were obtained with ALR along the spray centerline, which indicated an approximately identical formulation regardless of ALR. It indicated that the atomization characteristics were remarkably superior in the case of 30o of swirl angle with higher ALR. Among other things. nozzle configuration is one of the significant parameters affecting spray phenomena from an internal mixing nozzle. Turbulence intensities are increasingly degenerated with an increase of nozzle configuration, allowing a rapid increment of drop size distribution.
As the user's demand for ultra high-speed wireless internet has increased, the standardization, research and development of future mobile communication systems have been done for several years. IMT-Advanced system which is called fourth generation mobile communication should support the data rate of 1 Gbps for nomadic users and 100 Mbps for mobile users. Also, the system should hold call connection at the mobile speed of 350 km/h. Meanwhile, since Doppler spread is linearly proportional to mobile speed, high mobility leads to the increase of interference between subcarriers and the deterioration of detection performance consequently. In this paper, we evaluate and analyze detection probability with respect to equalization methods in time-varying channels under system parameters complying with IMT-Advanced requirements. According to computer simulation conducted by varying mobile speed and code rate, MMSE based equalization can mitigate performance degradation of IMT-Advanced system considerably in time-varying channels.
We present the performance of differential space-time block decoders. which does not require the channel state information. We suggest the structure of the multiple blocks differential space time decoders. which does not require the channel state information, and analyze the Performances. In quasi-static flat fading channels. the Performance of multiple blocks differential detection (MD-STC) outperforms that of 2 blocks(D-STC) by 1.5dB. But in the time-selective fading channels due to Doppler frequency $(f_d)$, the performance of MD-STC degrades as the vehicular speed is greater than 200km/hr in 802.16e systems, where the data transmission rate is 144kbps.
Among methods to eliminate aliasing effects, the method of increasing velocity scale gradually eliminated the phenomenon in which the direction of the blood flow appeared in reverse. It was done by increasing the velocity scale while maintaining other parameters in the same state. The method of setting the Doppler angle to $0^{\circ}$ did not show significant changes in the wave pattern of the spectrum according to the angle. In actual ultrasonography tests, more accurate tests are expected to be carried out by applying variations to the velocity scale under the considerations of speed, accuracy, and convenience of the examination. The results showed that blood flow velocity increases exponentially according to the Doppler Angle. When the angle goes over $70^{\circ}$, the velocity value increases to an unmeasurable state. This indicates that in blood flow velocity measurements, the blood flow velocity is very dependent on the Doppler Angle. It also shows that the error increases when the incidence angle to the direction of blood flow exceeds $60^{\circ}$, and when the angle exceeds $70^{\circ}$, the error becomes even greater. In addition, he experiment results showed that an angle below $60^{\circ}$ is appropriate and for blood flow velocity measurements in extremity vessels, the most appropriate Doppler Angle is from $45^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$.
Functional ultrasound imaging, such as elasticity imaging and micro-blood flow Doppler imaging, enhances diagnostic capability by providing useful mechanical and functional information about tissues. However, the implementation of functional ultrasound imaging poses limitations such as the storage of vast amounts of data in Radio Frequency (RF) data acquisition and processing. In this paper, we propose a sub-Nyquist approach that reduces the amount of acquired axial samples for efficient shear-wave elasticity imaging. The proposed method acquires data at a sampling rate one-third lower than the conventional Nyquist sampling rate and tracks shear-wave signals through RF signals reconstructed using band-pass filtering-based interpolation. In this approach, the RF signal is assumed to have a fractional bandwidth of 67 %. To validate the approach, we reconstruct the shear-wave velocity images using shear-wave tracking data obtained by conventional and proposed approaches, and compare the group velocity, contrast-to-noise ratio, and structural similarity index measurement. We qualitatively and quantitatively demonstrate the potential of sub-Nyquist sampling-based shear-wave elasticity imaging, indicating that our approach could be practically useful in three-dimensional shear-wave elasticity imaging, where a massive amount of ultrasound data is required.

Purpose : Syncope appears to be common. However, the mechanism of syncope is not clear. Increased vagal activity and withdrawal of sympathetic stimulation cause hypotension, bradycardia and finally loss of consciousness. The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes of cerebral blood flow velocity, blood pressure, and heart rate during tilt test in children with vasovagal syncope. Methods : Sixty four children with a past history of syncope were evaluated. The stand up test was performed for 15 minutes after a rest at supine position for 10 minutes, followed by an $80^{\circ}$ tilt test lasting 45 minutes. If presyncope(lightheadedness, nausea, blurred vision, or sweating) or syncope occurred, the study was discontinued. 12-lead electrocardiography, echocardiography, and electroencephalography were performed. Transcranial Doppler study was performed at the middle cerebral artery with 2 MHz continuous Doppler probe in 10 children with positive tilt test. Systolic, diastolic, mean cerebral blood flow velocity, integral, and pulsatility index were measured with blood pressure, heart rate, and $O_2$ saturation. Results : The positive rate of tilt test was 31.3%(20/64). Systolic, diastolic, and mean cerebral blood flow velocity decreased significantly in absence of hypotension or bradycardia during presyncope. Time velocity integral of cerebral artery also decreased significantly. Conclusion : Decreased cerebral blood flow velocity can predict the presyncope manifestation. Impairment of autoregulation of cerebral blood flow might play an important role in the pathophysiology of vasovagal syncope.
Noninvasive techniques for antenatal detection of the fetal development and well-being such as biophysical profile, non-stress and stress test remain major challenges in modem obstetric practice. To obtain and analyze umbilical artery velocity waveform by pulsed-wave doppler ultrasound, a total of 160 determinations were carried out on 157 normal pregnant women between 16th to 41st week gestation. The ratio of peak systolic to end-diastolic flow velocity(S/D ratio), pulsatility index and resistance index were measured as indices of the resistance in feto-placental circulation. The results were as follows : As gestation advances, the, mean values for peak systolic and end-diastolic velocities raised progressively. As gestation advances, the mean values for the S/D ratio declined progressively, exhibiting high diastolic flow velocity caused by low resistance. Pulsatility index, and resistance index were also declined progressively, as gestation advances. The analysis of umbilical artery blood flow velocity waveforms provides a new noninvasive technique to evaluate fetal development and well-being, and may be expected a reliable method for assessment of fetal life.
