This study was performed to evaluate the status of intestinal parasitic infections among the inhabitants in two islands (Chu-do and Doomi-do) of Tongyeong.gun, Kyeongsangnam-do (Province), from August to September, 1989. A total of 189 stool specimens was collected from the inhabitants of 3 villages and examined by Kato's cellophane thick smear and formalin.ether sedimentation techniques. Stoll's dilution egg counting technique was done for the quantitative examination of helminth eggs. The overall Positive rate of intestinal Parasites was 30.2%. The egg Positive rate of Ascaris lumbricoides was 2.1%, that of Trichuris trichiura 24.3%, hookworm 2.1%, Trichostrongylus orientazis 0.5%, Czonorchis sinensis 1.1%, heterophyid 1.6%, and Taenia species 2.6%. The cyst positive rate of Giardia lamblia was 1.6% and that of Entamoeba soli 0.5%. In T. trichiura infection, the egg Positive rate of females (29.9%) was much higher than that of males (17.2%). Among the age groups, 10~19 year group showed the highest inflection rate, 32.4%. It was revealed that the prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections among the inhabitants of remote islands should be still high in comparison with ever-reported ones in urban or rural areas.

After installing calibrated depth scale at 11 different points inside the nine streams network for estimating time of concentration of stream in Young-Heung island near coastal region of Incheon we estimated the flow against actual rainfall events. By considering time of concentration formula which here mainly used for estimating the time of concentration from practical experiments, compared were three methods of inflow time and accepted to method of used the chart. The maximum flow occurrence time was estimated by an outflow model and observed maximum flow occurrence time were determined by to a comparative analysis. Kirpich formula was selected as the proper formula for calculating the concentration time inside the island streams. Kirpich formula could be applicable for the expanded range while catchment area of $0.453km^2$ and channel bed slope of $3{\sim}5%$ to catchment area of $2.0km^2$ and channel bed slope of about 1.5%.

This study aims to examine the effect of students' library after-school activities on the students and the school library from a marketing perspective and to recommend marketing strategies for school libraries. For the purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted at nine middle schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and a series of statistical analyses with the survey data was performed in order for hypothesis testing. The results suggest that the effects of the school library marketing including customer loyalty were influenced by the student assistants' activities such as internal and experiential marketing factors. Furthermore, the activities of student library assistants can be linked to word-of-mouth marketing. Based on the results, ways to use student assistants in school library marketing are suggested.

우리나라 서남해 도서지역의 암반대수층을 통한 해수침투 실태 파악과 합리적인 지하수 이용관리 계획을 수립하기 위하여 농림부와 농업기반공사가 운영중인 해수침투 관측망에 대한 대략적인 소개와 일부 지역의 운영 사례를 제시하였다. 강화도 숭뇌지역 운영사례에서는 2002년 1월 1일부터 11월 30일까지의 수위, 전기전도도, 수온 등 세 항목의 지하수 장기관측 결과와 전기전도도 검층, 변형된 단극배열 전기비저항 탐사 및 지하수 시료들의 이온분석 결과를 바탕으로 관측정의 해수유입 실태를 파악하였으며, 소유역에 대한 개략적인 해수침투 유형파악이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Recently, public interest in air pollutants has increased, and the Korean government and local governments have attempted to improve air quality. This study examined the secondary air pollutant contribution in Ulleung Island, Jeju Island, and Baengnyeong Island and compared the differences between them by analyzing the air pollution level and weather conditions in these regions. The weather conditions of the island regions, such as wind speed, precipitation, and sunshine duration, and the average concentration of air pollutants, such as SO₂, NO₂, CO, O₃, PM₁₀, PM_2.5, were examined. The correlation coefficient between air quality factors of each island region and weather conditions was calculated. Regression analysis was conducted by setting primary air pollutants, SO₂, NO₂, and CO as independent variables, and secondary air pollutants, O₃, PM₁₀, and PM_2.5 as dependent variables to identify the regional contribution and impact. Therefore, the government and local governments should establish air quality management for each island region.

Many countries have interested in islands with their values in nature such as future sustainable resource and new expansion of marine territory. As territorial and cultural assets, these islands have been the source of our national competitiveness and, then, Korean government has initiated island management policy that provides a basis for the development and protection of islands. Consequently, spatial data and database for resource management have been required. In this sense, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the condition and status of various natural resources in Jeju islands. Jeju has 63 islands including 55 uninhabited islands. Then, an Island Information System(IIS) based on geographical information system(GIS) has been proposed. This ISS will provide not only a measure for effective resource management but also systematic services for releasing useful resource information.

The purpose of this study Is to identify factors for library space programs through user needs assessments in order to apply a library construction. Research method used was a questionnaire and subjects were residents and library users lived in Yongin where a new library was constructing. The results show that library use behavior, age, and user companions are identified as factors to influence to both functional space ratio and functional space arrangement. Heading in libraries is major activity and many subjects went to library with family so that family space is needed. Space for variable ages, also, is needed because of different needs based upon ages.

This study focuses on the collaboration among public libraries and communities through 'One Book, One City' reading campaign. This study introduced the meaning and trend of 'One Book, One City' program on the world. And this study also suggests the ideas for the collaboration among public libraries and communities making use of this reading campaign; activation of reading campaign, building library network, establishing partnership model between private and public sectors.
