The development of new technology and the change of educational environment are much influencing the primary and middle school education. The school library which is very important part of school education in order to perform its functions effectively and efficiently must be provided with professional staff, necessary resources and adequate facilities. It is necessary to redesign and renovate existing facilities to meet the growing needs of newly developed school library programs and to effectively manage and allocate physical space appropriately. The objective of this research is to study the theoretical background of the subject and to find out present conditions and future needs of school library facilities and environmental change in Korea through a predesigned questionnaire for a redesign proposal.

By providing a variety of information resources and space, the school library provides students with the opportunities for creativity improvement through reading and humanity education, teachers with the opportunities for providing the high quality training by developing teaching methods fit for the students' aptitude and ability. The school library is now playing a greater role as a curriculum-oriented space instead of just a repository for books. This study was intended to survey the perception of librarians in these libraries to find the most optimal location for the school library to ease use for teachers and students. In order to accomplish the object of this study, a questionnaire targeted school librarians around South Korea, and previous studies about school library facilities were analyzed. As a result of the study, factors such as 'buildings, floors, position in building, and size' of school libraries appeared to make a large difference in the satisfaction of school librarians.

The purpose of this study is to explore the establishment and administrative strategies for shared repositories for academic libraries in Korea, using the US ReCAP (Research Collections and Preservation Consortium) Project as a case study. The US ReCAP Project was a collaboration between the New York Public Library and the university libraries of Columbia University, Harvard University, and Princeton University. In-depth interviews were conducted with librarians and administrators in charge of the ReCAP Project to understand the original vision of the project, as well as how the strategy and approach evolved over the years. The analysis results revealed that shared repositories for libraries have evolved into shared collections enabling shared use. But shared repositories require a central management system to be successful in the long-term. Additionally, findings showed that the shared repository filled more quickly than anticipated. This in turn required collaborative planning on shared collection development and selection policies to determine which materials to send to the shared repository.

The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of university library operation through the five laws of library science and suggest ways to improve it. To this end, the operation status of four national and public university libraries was analyzed with the scope of the study as the Busan area. Furthermore, for an in-depth investigation, the P University library in Busan was examined as a case. The operation status of national and public university libraries in the Busan region was analyzed by dividing them into the categories of university library collection materials, facilities, staff, material purchase costs, and users from 2018 to 2022. In particular, there was a decrease in users and a shortage of librarians due to COVID-19. In the case study, the operation status of P University library was investigated focusing on the first and fifth laws of Ranganathan's five laws of library science. In the first law, the study was conducted on the aspects of access to and use of the collection, library location, usage time and book lending, and staff. In the fifth law, the investigation was divided into service improvement aspects according to changes in digital technology of P University library and library environment improvement aspects according to changes in user characteristics. As a result of the study, 'establishment of library space composition strategy', 'establishment of blue ocean strategy', and 'expansion of recruitment and deployment of librarians' were suggested as improvement plans.

The purpose of this study is to measure the saturation of the collection in public library and to propose a solution to this problem. In order to conduct this study, one local government was selected to measure the collection saturation status of each library and to clarify the cause of collection saturation. Based on the research results derived from this study, the public library in Korea measures the degree of collection saturation and recognizes the seriousness of collection saturation, and suggests the task of identifying the cause of collection saturation and solving it.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a strategy of introduction of Larchiveum, which is a concept of multi cultural space in libraries. Problem of library space programs are discussed in terms of Larchiveum and Maker space, and recently it has been studied in various aspects such as Europeana, GLAM and DPLA from the view point of digital Larchiveum. As a multi cultural space, it is a strategy for constructing Larchiveum that reflects the recent maker's movement. Maker space that explores new ideas and encourages active participation of users, nature and health, curiosity and the construction of an attractive space using ecological concepts as key words. The processes and methods for constructing Larchiveum are classified into 3 types of space configuration, service, program, and operating regulation, and twelve details are laid out to derive the process and method of building Larchiveum as a future type library.

In this study, in order to foster human resources equipped with expertise in libraries and spatial organization that contributes to the development of libraries, planning, design, and construction, the self-designed library space planning major was developed and the education goal, human resources award, and major capabilities were presented. To this end, the relevant literature analysis, expert opinion collection, and consumer survey were conducted, and the results are as follows. First, the person-in-person awards required for library space planning were identified as space planning personnel, design thinking personnel, and creative working people. Second, the person-specific majors were derived with the ability to analyze the library environment, ability to express spatial concepts, ability to analyze user needs, ability to coordinate interests, ability to understand spatial design, ability to understand spatial design, and ability to apply practical applications. Based on the plan, subjects should be developed that can fulfill the educational goals of the future library space planning major, human resources award, and human resources status, and operation plans should be designed so that the library space planning major can adapt students without fail due to its own design-based major.

도서관은 사회적 변화와 요구에 따라 그 역할이 점점 확대되고 있으며, 특히 어린이도서관에서 실시하는 문화프로그램에 대한 관심 또한 높아지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 어린이도서관의 가치, 기능구현에 문화프로그램이 어떤 역할을 수행하고 있는지 살펴보기 위해 국립어린이청소년도서관과 서울특별시교육청 어린이도서관 웹 사이트를 조사하여 현재 실시하고 있는 문화프로그램의 현황을 주제별, 이용대상별로 내용 분석하였다. 분석 결과 어린이도서관은 독서교육과 문화적 매개공간의 기능을 하고 있으며 향후 공공도서관에서 문화프로그램을 기획하고 운영하는데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

This study was conducted based on the need to establish an operational plan following the establishment of the Okcheon-gun Daily Life Culture and Sports Center Library, and for the users of public libraries in Okcheon-gun, the functions and roles of the Okcheon-gun Library, collection related to operational direction, user service related activation, library usage related status survey, preference for the future use and perception of desired services were surveyed. Based on the results of the perception survey, the direction required by the Okcheon-gun residents for the Library was identified, and the research results are as follows. As a result of the study, first, when establishing a collection plan, the data types ought to be based on the printed materials and the multi-media materials to reflect the needs of the users, and it may also be necessary to collect them in consideration of the subject areas including literature, art, history, and technical sciences. Second, to provide various information services, it would be necessary to establish an overall information service plan, and it was identified that it would be necessary to develop various information services according to the user preferences and provide cooperative services. Third, it was determined that the programs appropriate for the various subjects and age groups should be continuously expanded moving forward in consideration of the larges demand for programs by the residents of Okcheon-gun. Fourth, new constructions and spatial improvements are needed, and the overall preference for open spaces was significant. In the case of cultural space, the preference for youth cultural facilities, convenience facilities for residents, infinite loss of imagination, and the (experiential) exhibition halls turned out to be large.

The purpose of this study is to describe the trends and contents of literature in green library and to suggest the research direction on green library. Earlier studies focus on the green library architecture and necessity, after then green library management studies have proliferated. Green library architecture studies have emphasized on 'energy and atmosphere' and 'indoor environmental quality' based upon 5 categories of LEED evaluation system. Green library management studies have focused on library resources recycling and utilizing energy through effective management of library collection. Based on the analysis of literature, five research directions are suggested, such as the number of libraries in an area, library shelf position and space, library space program, collection ratio for library storage, and user studies.
