Case Study on Collection Saturation of Public Library

공공도서관 장서의 포화에 관한 사례 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to measure the saturation of the collection in public library and to propose a solution to this problem. In order to conduct this study, one local government was selected to measure the collection saturation status of each library and to clarify the cause of collection saturation. Based on the research results derived from this study, the public library in Korea measures the degree of collection saturation and recognizes the seriousness of collection saturation, and suggests the task of identifying the cause of collection saturation and solving it.

본 연구는 공공도서관의 자료이용공간 내 장서포화 상태를 측정하고, 이를 해결할 수 있는 방안을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 수행을 위하여 특정 지방자치단체 한 곳을 선정하여 이 지방자치단체가 운영하는 공공도서관의 도서관별 장서포화상태를 측정하여 장서포화의 상태와 원인을 밝히고자 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출한 연구 결과를 토대로 우리나라 공공도서관에서 장서포화도를 측정하여 장서포화에 대한 심각성을 인지하고, 장서포화의 원인을 파악하여 이를 해결해야 한다는 당면과제를 제시하는데 있다.
