  • The development of service industries like more information on each individual's comments are provided only for wanting to receive services that do not like the prolonged waiting time. However, existing venues, theaters, libraries and seating management systems to suit the individual seating arrangements can not automatically provide information and give everyone the same. In this paper these issues to improve the fit of personal preference or personal inclination of the body in condition to meet intelligently deployed seats, and can provide information only preferred system is proposed. To verify the proposed system's performance using any of the theater seating chart for the experiments was to check to see better performance could be seen.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the tendency to study children's services in libraries korea and in North America in order to analyze the implications for future studies in the field of Library and Information Science. Looking at masters and doctoral theses submitted from 1981 to 2010, we analyzed 110 theses in Korea and 89 theses in North America. After reviewing the abstracts of the theses, we classified their subjects into six categories, including the materials, services, programs, administration and management, type of children, and the theory and history behind each library's services. Four things stood out from the study. First, the number of theses in Korea has had a sharp increase recently, but in North America there has been a steady increase for a longer period of time. Second, the theses about library programs are approximately 50% in Korea, but in North America 50% of those theses were about materials for children. Third, in Korea about 90% of the theses are for master's degree, while approximately 90% in North America are for doctoral degree. Fourth, looking at each of the different categories, Korea seemed to focus on the services and programs offered and the administration and management, while North America focused on the materials offered, the type of children to partake in the services and the theory and history behind the services offered.

  • Teachers, parents and students have regarded teacher librarians as a book keeper who doesn't participate in teaching. Consequently teacher librarianship has not satisfied occupational function and qualities of professional workers and teacher librarians' vocational presence appears to be very frail because of school library policies ignoring teacher librarians appointment, the law and system identifing librarinship with teacher librarianship. But its ultimate cause is Library and Information Science Community's attitude of sideliners that doesn't holding teacher librarians oriented preparation programs for their instructional qualification. Thus it is essential for the members of academic communities to recognize teacher librarians as an educational media specialist and develop various curricula in order to strengthen the occupational status of teacher librarians. Also it requires that teacher librarians improve his/her individual ability with self evaluation and increase activities of their professional institutions.

  • In the first Dart of this paper, the writer describes the history of movements of changing the term "to-sogwan-hak"(圖書館學), the korean equivalent of the English "library science" which could be literally re-translated into English as "book building science" and has such a nuance in Korean, to "munhon-jongbo-hak"(文獻情報學), which literally means "documento-information science, the term the author advocated by 1971. In the second part, he analyses the term of "munhon-jongbo-hak" (文獻情報學) etymologically, structurely and semantically: and proposes to use it as the Korean equivalent of the English "library and information science" and of the Japanese "toshokan-joho-gaku"(圖書館情報學). He also suggests using it not as coordinate and separate sciences of both library science and information science but as integrated and united one.

  • This research was done with the intent of showing the changes in the Library and Information Science(LIS) curriculum from 1991 until 2014, across the 40 Korean LIS departments. Using the department and faculty system, which I expected were the biggest change factors, I took these as the division points and analyzed the published data regarding curriculum offerings in units of 6-7 years. Fields with special characteristics were analyzed in more depth for changes. The results indicated several things. First, in the bibliography field the number of individuals had been reduced from 69 to 51 in 2014. Second, the subjects in records management had increased from 33 in 2005 to 57 in 2014. Third, in the linguistics field the decrease was from 63 in 1997 to 19 in 2014. Fourth, as a result of analyzing individuals that had been classified into the general LIS field, it was found that subjects related to the outline of the LIS, field studies, publication and copyrights, and career guidance were increasing. At the same time, the subjects related to the history of the library were decreasing.

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the characteristics of library and information science (LIS) field in Asian countries, focusing on the case of Taiwan. In order to conduct this study, the obtained statistical data and co-authorship networks based on eight major LIS journals in Taiwan were analyzed and compared to the case of South Korea. In Taiwan like Korea, papers published by a single-author and 2 to 3 co-authors were the most common. The centrality analysis showed that leading professors in the national-level university in Taiwan have strong and distinctive ties in the network. Additional unique characteristics pertaining to collaboration in Taiwan include the existence of journals focused on practical aspects in the field of LIS and active research participation involving librarians who publish papers in these journals.

  • This study was carried out on the citations within the chemistry field Ph.D. dissertations to ascertain what types of documents are the most frequently used in the research process, the most frequently consulted journals and obsolescence rate of the journals. The analysis covered 42 doctoral theses presented at 'K' university in Seoul from 2000 to 2008. The results obtained from the 3,258 citations revealed that the most frequently used documents were Academic Journal, which accounted for 91 percent of the total; 27 journals met 50 percent of the information needs; and the age of 50 percent of the citations was no older than 9 years. Finally, the results can be used as a tool for the collection management of the library. and Researcher with the chemistry field Ph.D. dissertation.

  • This study was designed to derive and propose the qualities, qualifications, duties, etc. needed for policy information librarians who work in the policy-related special libraries. To do this, literature related to professional librarians was analyzed comprehensively with respect to qualifications, qualities, duties presented and needed in domestic and international jobs sites. The information derived through this process was developed into a questionnaire and a survey conducted targeting as subjects specialized librarians in related fields. The results indicated that the highest required LIS degree for both policy information librarian and for policy related fields is a Master's Degree. Additionally in investigating the importance of related career experience required for a policy information librarian, work related to policies reference services appeared to be the most important. On the issue of important qualities required of a policy information librarian, 'outstanding policies related data navigation capabilities' was the highest, followed by 'knowledge of information policy and knowledge of policy related resources', 'knowledge of the current trends of policies related fields', and 'smooth interpersonal skills.' The survey also indicated that with respect to the duties of the information librarian planning of policy information services had the highest score, followed by the providing of policies information services, and then collection management.

  • Altmetircs is the new method to measure social impact of research result which couldn't be found by traditional way, through measuring how much research result is reacting to social media. As academic communication has been diverse and OA repository which can preserve diverse type of article has been activated, New paradigm that measure impact of articles through multifaceted and complex way has been started. This study considers background, status of application, pros and cons about altmetircs. And by using Impactstory which is open source based tool, analyses the research output about digital library of Korea, china and japan which is published in international journal. Besides, analyses correlation between Altmetricss and citation rates. As results, "saved" shows higher than "cited" in library research analysis, it means that even though articles are not cited by followed study, there are a lot of articles that has saved in reference management tool. And positive correlation(r = 0.718) exists between "saved" and "cited", it can be inferred that Altmetricss complement the bibliometrics based evaluation system. Meanwhile, Korean researches are saved more in reference management tool than other countries.

  • Deterioration and brittleness of resources on the shelves of institutions such as libraries and archives have been increased and accelerated as time passes in accordance with the preservation environment and the nature of their own material. It can be a loss of current information with little importance in prolong the life of valuable materials and to preserve them in security, integrated preservation programs should be developed and implemented according to missions, sizes, the nature of collections, users, and budgets of individual institutions. In reality, most institutions, however, are not able to implement perfect preservation programs due to lack of budget, human resources, and expertise. To solve this problem, some institutions in similar circumstances have planned cooperative preservation programs in various levels. Through cooperative systems individual institutions can not only pursue common interests but gain real benefits for themselves. Consequently institutions are recommended to collaborate with in development and implementation of various preservation programs at local, national, and international levels in addition to individual institutional programs.
