도서관에 대한 올바른 이용과 이해는 초등학교에서부터 출발해야 한다. 도서관 이용 교육은 국가 수준의 교육과정에서 인정받는 것이 중요할 뿐만 아니라 정규 교과서에 반영하여 교과 수업 시간에 지도할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 일본은 문부과학성에서 고시한 ‘학습지도요령’에 의거 국어 교과서에 다각적인 도서관 이용 교육을 실시하고 있다. 본 연구는 일본의 소학교 국어 교과서에 반영된 도서관 이용 교육을 분석하여 앞으로 우리 나라 초등학교 국어 교과서 개발에 참고 자료가 되고자 한다.

2000년 이후 우리나라 언론보도에 나타난 도서관 관련 기사에 대한 계량적 분석을 통해 우리나라 도서관에 대한 사회적 인식과 요구가 어떤 것인지를 파악해 보았다. 그 중에서 기적의 도서관 관련한 내용에 대한 내용분석을 시도하였다. 이러한 분석결과를 기반으로 향후 도서관계의 언론홍보 방안을 제시하였다.

사회 전반에 걸쳐 소셜네트워크서비스의 영향력이 높아짐에 따라 국내 대학도서관에서도 소셜네트워크서비스의 도입을 통해 이용자와 소통하려는 노력을 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 대학도서관의 소셜네트워크서비스의 현황을 파악하고 소셜네트워크서비스의 이용률이 높은 도서관과 낮은 대학도서관을 선정하여 이용 및 비이용 요인을 도출하는 것을 통해 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.

The potential risks, involved with the management of a library, may cause a tremendous economic loss, so require a systematic management. The rist management process, consisting of risk identification, risk measurement selection of risk treatment methods, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation, suggests the use of insurance to deal with property risks, liability risks and personnel risks. For the systematic risk management of a library, risk manager should be appointed to be responsible for program development and insurance purchase. The limited coverage of library risks, provided by the school cooperative society, should be supplemented through development of insurance products. Further study is required to improve the library risk management and the application of insurance in a systematic and realistic way.

최근 전산화의 세계적인 추세는 정보의 공유와 공동활용에 있다. 그러나 국내의 사정은 모든 도서관이 이런 필요성을 인정하면서도 자관의 이해득실 때문에 어려운 현실이다. 코넷협의회는 이러한 필요성을 바탕으로 1994년 국내 대학도서관끼리 최초로 발족되어 상호신뢰와 호양의 정신으로 운영되고 있다. 물론 현재 만족스러운 상황은 아니지만 국내의 선례가 없기에 나름대로 현장에서 최선을 다하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 코넷협의회 발족 및 운영 현황과 시스템 관리자가 유의해야 될 사항 등을 사례별로 논하고자 한다.

In this study, in order to understand the characteristics of the users' information needs for each public library unit, the user needs were analyzed based on the various attribute information of the books loaned to 11 public libraries in 8 districts in Seoul. As a result, the prominent book use patterns of the libraries were revealed, specifically related to the target user groups, purpose/motivation, interests/preferences, book genre, and subject. In addition, there was a preference for authors, and a difference in the role of the preferred authors in each library was also revealed. The results of this study will help to provide guidelines for the development of differentiated collections and service programs based on user needs.

The public library strives to foster information use by the public, cultural activities, reading, and life-long education. Public libraries are firmly rooted in local societies providing services that reflect the needs and characteristics of those local communities, while at the same time are structured in a coherent nation-wide network. This study examines practices of managing local cultural contents and proposes ways in which public libraries, as central information hubs in local communities, can provide diverse knowledge information and cultural programs, and local culture contents.

본 연구는 일반 시민이 공공도서관에 가지는 역할 이미지의 유형과, 그러한 역할 이미지들이 어떠한 경로를 통해 형성되는지 파악하고자 하였다. 연구는 다양한 공공도서관 이용정도를 보이는 서울특별시 시민 6명을 대상으로 한 개별심층면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 면담 내용을 분석한 결과, 다양한 경험 중 직접 도서관을 이용해 본 경험이 공공도서관에 대한 인식을 형성하는 가장 큰 경로로 나타났다. 특히 응답자들의 사서에 대한 이미지와 도서관에 느끼는 이미지가 매우 유사하였다. 간접적인 경험 중에서는 주변인의 공공도서관 경험이 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤으며, 홍보물, 언론, 웹사이트 등은 큰 영향을 미치지 못한 것으로 판단된다.

Using the library users' data in Lake County Public Library Systems, Florida, US, this study discussed how geographic information systems can be applied in LIS fields. These data were analyzed with such GIS functions as geocoding, Thiessen polygon, density, buffer, and distance measurement. Results indicate that findings from a study of these functions allowed for, not only a better understanding of the geographic locations of library users and user's library activity patterns, but also for the ability to identify library market areas for future library service planning. Additionally, results from a study of the Thiesen polygon and buffer functions indicated the distance impact on library use. Regarding the travel distance of library users, the measurement of distance using road networks was suggested.

최근 급속한 정보량의 증가와 함께 정보 통신 기술의 발달 및 인터넷의 보급의 확산에 따라 정보의 배포와 이응 방법도 크게 변화하고 있다. 즉, 기하급수적으로 증가하는 정보에 비해 산술적 증가 혹은 고정적인 공간 때문에 모든 도서관은 공간적인 문제에 직면하게 되었다. 과거로부터 정보커뮤니케이션, 특히 학문 연구분야의 주류매체로서 입지를 유지하였던 인쇄형 학술지는 연구활동의 가장 중요한 정보원으로써 연구자들의 연구동향과 함께 최신의 연구내용을 전달하는 매체이다. 도서관 및 정보센터는 학술지를 최대한 수집해야 하는데 학술지의 가격급등과 한정된 도서관 공간문제는 난제로 대두되고 있다. 이 연구는 국내외에서 이루어지고 있는 인쇄매체, 디지털매체에 담긴 학술정보자원의 아카이빙에 대한 연구동향 중 인쇄매체 또는 디지털매체로 학계에서 가장 활발하게 이용되고 있는 학술지를 디지털화하여 도서관 상호이용방식으로 서비스할 수 있는 방안을 고찰한 것이다.
