Machines for crack sealing automation have been continually developed since the early 1990's because of the effectiveness of crack sealing that would be able to improve safety, quality and productivity. It has been considered challenging problem to detect crack network in pavement which includes noise (oil marks, skid marks, previously sealed cracks and inherent noise). Moreover, it is required to develop crack network mapping and modeling algorithm in order to accurately inject sealant along to the middle of cut crack network. The primary objective of this study is to propose machine vision algorithms (digital image processing algorithm and path planning algorithm) for fully automated pavement crack sealing. It is anticipated that the effective use of the proposed machine vision algorithms would be able to reduce error rate in image processing for detecting, mapping and modeling crack network as well as improving quality and productivity compared to existing vision algorithms.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive method of tracking multiple moving objects using contour and features in surrounding conditions. We use an adaptive background model for robust processing in surrounding conditions. Object segmentation model detects pixels thresholded from local difference image between background and current image and extracts connected regions. Data association problem is solved by using feature extraction and object recognition model in searching window. We use Kalman filters for real-time tracking. The results of simulation show that the proposed method is good for tracking multiple moving objects in highway image sequences.
Aerial scene is greatly increased by the introduction and supply of the image due to the growth of digital optical imaging technology and development of the UAV. It has been used as the extraction of ground properties, classification, change detection, image fusion and mapping based on the aerial image. In particular, in the image analysis and utilization of deep learning algorithm it has shown a new paradigm to overcome the limitation of the field of pattern recognition. This paper presents the possibility to apply a more wide range and various fields through the segmentation and classification of aerial scene based on the Deep learning(ConvNet). We build 4-classes image database consists of Road, Building, Yard, Forest total 3000. Each of the classes has a certain pattern, the results with feature vector map come out differently. Our system consists of feature extraction, classification and training. Feature extraction is built up of two layers based on ConvNet. And then, it is classified by using the Multilayer perceptron and Logistic regression, the algorithm as a classification process.

Convenience and safety are the key words for the automotive driving and various sensor technologies have been studied for enhanced perception of driving environments. In frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar systems, single antenna is enough for range and velocity detection of multiple targets. Multiple array antenna is needed for estimating direction of arrival(DoA). Using DoA estimation algorithm in time domain as in the conventional systems, it is difficult to distinguish vehicles lie in the same angle. In order to facilitate the enhanced angle estimation, DoA estimation algorithm is applied in frequency domain. In this paper, the method for applying multiple signal classification(MUSIC) algorithm in frequency domain is suggested and the performance is analyzed.

In this paper, an enhanced 2-stage vehicle license plate detection scheme using object segmentation is proposed to detect accurately the rotated license plates due to the inclined photographing angles in real-road situations. With the previous 3-stage vehicle license plate detection pipeline model, the detection accuracy is likely decreased as the license plates are declined. To resolve this problem, we propose an enhanced 2-stage model by replacing the frontal two processing stages which are for detecting vehicle area and vehicle license plate respectively in only rectangular shapes in the previous 3-stage model with one step to detect vehicle license plate in arbitrarily shapes using object segmentation. According to the comparison results in terms of the detection accuracy of the proposed 2-stage scheme and the previous 3-stage pipeline model against the rotated license plates, the accuracy of the proposed 2-stage scheme is improved by up to about 20% even though the detection process is simplified.

When a video surveillance system tracks a specific object, it is very important to get quickly the information of the object through fast image processing. Usually one camera surveillance system for tracking the object made results in various problems such like occlusion, image noise during the tracking process. It makes difficulties on image based moving object tracking. Therefore, to overcome the difficulties the multi video surveillance system which installed several camera within interested area and looking the same object from multi angles of view could be considered as a solution. If multi cameras are used for tracking object, it is capable of making a decision having high accuracy in more wide space. This paper proposes a method of recognizing and tracking a specific object like a car using the homography in which multi cameras are installed at the crossroad.

Vehicle license plate is the only way to check the registrated information of a vehicle. Many works have been devoted to the vision system of recognizing the license plate, which has been widely used to control an illegal parking. However, it is difficult to correctly segment characters on the license plate since an illumination is affected by a weather change and a neighboring obstacles. This paper proposes a robust method of segmenting the character of the license plate on irregular illumination condition. The proposed method enhance the contrast of license plate images using the Chi-Square probability density function. For segmenting characters on the license plate, binary images with the high quality are gained by applying the adaptive threshold. Preprocessing and labeling algorithm are used to eliminate noises existing during the whole segmentation process. Finally, profiling method is applied to segment characters on license plate from binary images.

We propose a no-reference perceptual fog density and visibility prediction model in a single foggy scene based on natural scene statistics (NSS) and perceptual "fog aware" statistical features. Unlike previous studies, the proposed model predicts fog density without multiple foggy images, without salient objects in a scene including lane markings or traffic signs, without supplementary geographical information using an onboard camera, and without training on human-rated judgments. The proposed fog density and visibility predictor makes use of only measurable deviations from statistical regularities observed in natural foggy and fog-free images. Perceptual "fog aware" statistical features are derived from a corpus of natural foggy and fog-free images by using a spatial NSS model and observed fog characteristics including low contrast, faint color, and shifted luminance. The proposed model not only predicts perceptual fog density for the entire image but also provides local fog density for each patch size. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model against human judgments regarding fog visibility, we executed a human subjective study using a variety of 100 foggy images. Results show that the predicted fog density of the model correlates well with human judgments. The proposed model is a new fog density assessment work based on human visual perceptions. We hope that the proposed model will provide fertile ground for future research not only to enhance the visibility of foggy scenes but also to accurately evaluate the performance of defog algorithms.
Geophysical exploration methods are very useful for generating high-resolution images of underground structures, and such methods can be applied to investigation of buried cultural properties and for determining their exact locations. In this study, image feature extraction and image segmentation methods were applied to automatically distinguish the structures of buried relics from the high-resolution ground-penetrating radar (GPR) images obtained at the center of Silla Kingdom, Gyeongju, South Korea. The major purpose for image feature extraction analyses is identifying the circular features from building remains and the linear features from ancient roads and fences. Feature extraction is implemented by applying the Canny edge detection and Hough transform algorithms. We applied the Hough transforms to the edge image resulted from the Canny algorithm in order to determine the locations the target features. However, the Hough transform requires different parameter settings for each survey sector. As for image segmentation, we applied the connected element labeling algorithm and object-based image analysis using Orfeo Toolbox (OTB) in QGIS. The connected components labeled image shows the signals associated with the target buried relics are effectively connected and labeled. However, we often find multiple labels are assigned to a single structure on the given GPR data. Object-based image analysis was conducted by using a Large-Scale Mean-Shift (LSMS) image segmentation. In this analysis, a vector layer containing pixel values for each segmented polygon was estimated first and then used to build a train-validation dataset by assigning the polygons to one class associated with the buried relics and another class for the background field. With the Random Forest Classifier, we find that the polygons on the LSMS image segmentation layer can be successfully classified into the polygons of the buried relics and those of the background. Thus, we propose that these automatic classification methods applied to the GPR images of buried cultural heritage in this study can be useful to obtain consistent analyses results for planning excavation processes.
It has been known well that Traffic Conflict Technique(TCT) used to evaluate the safety of intersections in the case of shortage of traffic accidents data and surveying time. Because data for using in traffic conflict technique that is collected by trained surveyors, it is rely on the knowledge, experience and the characteristics of them. The data of surveying generate varying result. So, its variance must minimize and then it is considered of calculating in traffic conflict technique however obviously technique to minimize has not developed until now. So, this paper has a focus on the technical method to minimize the variance. For this, it applied the fuzzy reasoning theory to the existed traffic conflict technique that is the most comprehensive method in the country and then developed the new traffic conflict technique model. Fuzzy reasoning theory is a very appropriate method for minimizing the variance among surveyors because it can systematically calculate the uncertainty of surveyors by approximation reasoning structure. The result of analysis from pilot study, the new Procedure in this Paper minimized the variance by 53 Percentiles and it increased the value of conversion factor two times than the exited traffic conflict technique. The method proposed in this paper, it can be used for evaluating the safety of intersection, and before and after analysis of improving Project of black spots.
