  • An OFDM system may be a good candidate for a next-generation wireless communication system which requires high-speed and high-rate data transmission. In OFDM systems, guard intervals are inserted to mitigate the effects of ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference). But guard interval insertion degrades the system performance from the standpoint of data rate and bandwidth efficiency. In this paper, a new method to improve the performance of an OFDM system without guard interval. First, PIC (Parallel Interference Cancellation) scheme which can reduce ISI by subtracting the estimated multi-path components from the received signal will be considered. And the proposed system with Pseudo-Decorrelator estimates transmitted signals by using the inverse matrix of cross-correlation matrix relating to interference components. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated through computer simulations and compared with that of the PIC system and an OFDM system without guard interval.

  • Extensive researches have been carried out for enhancing the safety of nuclear power plants and, especially, the development of passive cooling systems, such as passive containment cooling system (PCCS) and passive residual heat removal system, is increasingly important, where condensation is a crucial heat transfer mechanism. Recently, Ahn & Yun et al. developed a horizontal in-tube condensation heat transfer model as one of the activities for the PCCS development. In this work, we implemented the Ahn & Yun 's condensation heat transfer model into the MARS code and assessed it using the PASCAL experimental data. Based on the results of the assessment, we identified the limitations of the Ahn & Yun 's model and suggested a modified Ahn & Yun 's model, and assessed the model using various experimental data.

  • As the size of the data is getting larger and larger due to improvement of the telecommunication techniques, it would be main issues to develop and process the database. The bloom filter used to lookup a particular element under the given set is very useful structure because of the space efficiency. In this paper, we analyse the main factor of the false positive and propose the new parallel type bloom filter in order to minimize the false positive which is caused by other hash functions. The proposed method uses the memory as large as the conventional bloom filter use, but it can improve the processing speed using parallel processing. In addition, if we use the perfect hash function, the insertion and deletion function in the proposed bloom filter would be possible.

  • To report problems found in a patient who has implemented stent implantation and then conducted a perfusion MRI using ASL(Arterial Spin Labeling), in order to suggest a solution to them. The perfusion MRI was conducted, using pCASL among ASL methods. Data from pCASL(Pseudo Continuous Arterial Spin Labeling) was acquired together with the structural image simply by changing position(labeling gap 15 mm, 170 mm) of the labeling pulse to avoid stent. Data was processed through the ASLtbx. When perfusion MRI was acquired using pCASL, it showed that the position of the conventional labeling pulse (labeling gap 24 mm) was overlapped with that of stent, which made signal intensity in right brain tissue appear as if it were void. When the labeling pulse was positioned (labeling gap 15 mm) to avoid stent, high signal intensity images were acquired. In labeling pulse (labeling gap 170 mm), the signal intensity was more reduced due to relaxation before labeled blood arrived at the imaging slice. pCASL can be stably repeated measurements because it does not use a contrast agent. And it should be selected with the appropriate image acquisition parameters for the high quality image.

In this paper, It does not damage the video data which is a multimedia contents not to be, it inserts copyright information and it protects the right of ownership. It is with a copyright protection which leads the wavelet transform which is a watermark of frequency base from visual system viewpoint in the human being center with it proposes the watermarking technique against a forgery prevention.

  • In 2009, Tsai et al. proposed reversible image hiding scheme using linear prediction coding and histogram shifting. Tsai et al.'s scheme improved the hiding capacity of Ni et al.'s scheme by using the prediction coding and two histograms. However, Tsai et al.'s scheme has problems. In the prediction coding, the basic pixel is not used from embedding procedure. Many additional communication data are generated because two peak and zero point pairs are generated by each block. To solve the problems, this paper proposes a novel reversible data hiding scheme based on modulo operation and histogram shifting. In experimental results, the hiding capacity was increased by 28% than Tsai et al.'s scheme. However, the additional communication data was decreased by 71%.

  • Recently, high-dimensional index structures have been required for similarity search in such database applications s multimedia database and data warehousing. In this paper, we propose a new cell-based signature tree, called CS-tree, which supports efficient storage and retrieval on high-dimensional feature vectors. The proposed CS-tree partitions a high-dimensional feature space into a group of cells and represents a feature vector as its corresponding cell signature. By using cell signatures rather than real feature vectors, it is possible to reduce the height of our CS-tree, leading to efficient retrieval performance. In addition, we present a similarity search algorithm for efficiently pruning the search space based on cells. Finally, we compare the performance of our CS-tree with that of the X-tree being considered as an efficient high-dimensional index structure, in terms of insertion time, retrieval time for a k-nearest neighbor query, and storage overhead. It is shown from experimental results that our CS-tree is better on retrieval performance than the X-tree.

  • Velocity data were acquired at a series of stations in the chordwise direction above a delta wing with leading edge extension, using a triple axis hot film anemometry. Surveys normal to planform yield velocity field data at incidence angle of 24$^{\circ}$and 32$^{\circ}$at a centerline chord Reynolds number of $1.76{\times}10^6$. Experimental results of velocity measurements of mean velocity of three components gave a confidence to quantitative investigate the vortical flow field over a LEX-delta wing with this probe. The present experiments indicated the existence of both wing and LEX vortex where the local mean axial velocity is maximum. It also shown the development of secondary vortex of opposite sign of rotating above the wing surface near the leading edge. The insertion of probe across the flow field was found to have little influence on the position of the vortex core.

  • In this paper, we propose a frame structure for modified ATSC transmission systems which is used for a terrestrial 3D HDTV broadcasting. The modified ATSC transmission systems [2] see the potential of increasing a transmission capacity at reasonable TOV (Threshold of Visibility) by modifying channel codes of conventional ATSC systems and varying modulations. We use PN symbols (Pseudorandom Noise) in a guard interval which is used for avoiding the ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) to estimate and compensate the time-varying multi path channel effectively with a maximum transmission payload. With PN symbols in the guard interval, a CIR (Channel Impulse Response) in a time domain can be estimated and a compensation in a frequency domain can be achieved for the accurate channel estimation and compensation. The prosed frame structure is applied to the modified ATSC systems and computer simulations are performed for SER (Symbol Error Rate) performances in TU (Typical Urban)-6 Channel.

  • Recently, the medical image has been digitized by the development of computer science and digitization of the medical devices. There are needs for database service of the medical image and long term storage because of the construction of PACS(picture archiving and communication system) following DICOM(digital imaging communications in medicine) standards, telemedicine, and et al. However, it also caused some kinds of problems, such as illegal reproduction of medical image, proprietary rights and data authentication. In this paper, we propose the new digital watermarking technique for medical image based on public key encryption algorithm for integrity verification. It prevents illegal forgery that can be caused after transmitting medical image data remotely. The watermark is the value of bit-plane in wavelet transform of the original image for certification method of integrity verification. We proposed the embedding regions are randomly chosen considering ROI, and a digital signature is made using hash function of MD5 which input is a secret key. The experimental results show that the watermark embedded by the proposed algorithm can survive successfully in image processing operations and that the watermark's invisibility is good.
