A Study on Probability and Statistics Education in High School

  • In this paper, the probability and statistics education of the 7th high school curriculum is studied. We analyze each unit of probability and statistics in high school textbooks $\ulcorner$Mathematics 10-GA$\lrcorner$, $\ulcorner$Mathematics I$\lrcorner$, and $\ulcorner$Practical Mathematics$\lrcorner$, and then research the percentage for the unit of probability and statistics for all textbooks. We also investigate the proportion for the number of students who select each subject of mathematics of the national academic aptitude tests for university admission in 2005 and 2006.

Science Teachers' Concerns and Needs regarding Scientific Thinking Inquiry Testing: One year before First Administration of College Scholastic Abilities Test (대학수학능력시험 도입에 따른 과학적 탐구사고력 평가에 대한 과학 교사들의 관심과 필요 사항)

  • This study investigated Korean science teachers' concerns and needs regarding inquiry testing to cope with the innovation called College Scholastic Abilities Test(CSAT), which was officially first administered as the nation-wide college entrance exam in 1994. This study adopted Concerns Based Adoption Model(CBAM) as the theoretical framework developed by Hall et al. 60 high science teachers (30 physics, 20 earth science, 10 others) were involved for the main study in August, 1992. In general. science teachers demonstrated a concern profile similar to that of 'nonusers'. They showed high level of concerns on the 'information' and 'personal' stage, while low level of concerns on 'management' and 'consequence' stage. Science teachers expressed their strong needs for knowledge and support to facilitate inquiry teaching and testing, text books written in inquiry mode. It is recommended that in-service trainings be provided based on the concerns and needs of teachers for a better teacher training and successful implementation of the innovation.

  • 해마다 실시되고 있는 대학수학능력시험의 듣기 평가시험에 있어서, 고사장 및 지점별 음향 성능에 기인한 레벨 편차와 명료도를 산출하여 학생 선발의 공공성과 객관성을 검토해 보고자 한다. 일반적으로 듣기 평가가 이루어지는 각 고사장은 듣기 평가 실시에 지장이 없는 고등학교 교실로 지정하고 있지만, 균등한 음 환경을 제공해야 하는 시험의 성격에 반해 학교 자체의 방송 시설을 그대로 사용하는 것은 평가의 형평성 및 객관성에 충실하지 못하게 되는 요인이 된다. 따라서, 각 고사장의 확성 시스템에 따른 음성 전달품질과 수험생간의 좌석별 음압 레벨 및 명료도를 평가하였고, 실험 결과 RASTI를 비롯한 음성 및 음절 명료도를 나타내는 파라메터에서 좌석별로 큰 편차가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

An Analysis on the Questions of the Fisheries and Shipping Subject of Vocational Search Field (대학수학능력시험의 직업탐구영역에 대한 수산·해운계열 전문교과 문항 분석)

  • Recently, many more fisheries and shipping high school students have entered college than those of the past. But, this trend could be attributed to the easy and various forms of selection for college admission. Thus the examinations of the college scholastic ability 2005 have added to the vocational search ability including verbal ability, mathematic ability, foreign language ability and inquiry ability. The vocational search ability in fisheries and shipping field is concluded the general fisheries science, general maritime science, general marine science and fisheries and shipping information management. This study analyzed the questions of the fisheries and shipping subject of vocational search field with high school 2nd students on October 2003. In result, this study identified some needed basic scholastic ability for fisheries and shipping high school students.

  • 대학수학능력시험이나 학업성취도평가와 같은 중요한 시험은 다단계의 복잡한 과정을 거쳐 채점되며, 대규모의 인적 물적 자원이 투입된다. 컴퓨터 시스템을 활용하여 채점 과정에 소모되는 자원을 절감하고 정확성을 향상시키는 등 채점 효율의 향상을 목표로 하는 연구가 진행 중에 있다. 하지만 채점하려는 문항에 대한 정보 없이 시스템이 자동으로 정 오답을 판단하는 것은 불가능하며, 채점자가 문항에 대한 정보를 일정한 형식으로 가공하여 시스템에 제공하여야 한다. 본 논문은 채점하려는 학생 답안을 정보로 이용하여 시스템이 인지할 수 있는 정답 템플릿 형식으로 구축하는 방법을 소개한다. 또한 소개한 방법으로 작성된 정답 템플릿을 이용하여 자동 채점을 수행하였을 때의 채점 결과 및 통계 자료를 수록하였다.

  • 최근 ChatGPT와 같은 사전학습 생성모델은 자연어 이해 (natural language understanding)에서 좋은 성능을 보이고 있다. 또한 코드 작업을 도와주고 대학수학능력시험, 중고등학교 수준의 문제를 풀거나 도와주는 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 본 논문은 사전학습 생성모델을 이용하여 영어 교육을 위해 말뭉치를 확장하는 프레임 워크를 제시한다. 이를 위해 ChatGPT를 사용해 말뭉치를 확장 한 후 의미 유사도, 상황 유사도, 문장 교육 난이도를 사용해 생성된 문장의 교육적 효과를 검증한다.

  • In this study, it is necessary to supplement the Korean language curriculum in order for international students to adapt and settle in Korea in an era where education is being transformed into future education due to the 4th industry. In the KFL (Korean as a Foreign Language) situation encountered by international students, they suffer from difficulties in university mathematics due to communication problems due to lack of language ability, which is one of the stress factors for cultural adaptation in the Korean language education program. To solve this problem, we analyzed ESL programs in English-speaking countries and KSL programs in Korea to set educational goals, curriculum, and educational methods to achieve goals for international students, and to establish curriculum and learning processes. Therefore, the Korean language education program (KSL program) for foreign students in the Korean language curriculum should also be supplemented by accepting the advantages of setting accurate goals for the ESL program and linking it with university graduation in the curriculum of English-speaking countries. In addition, for international students to learn Korean, an integrated Korean language education course and management system using IT suitable for the 4th industrial age is needed.

Latent Profile Analysis on Vocational Competency of Students in Vocational High Schools and Vocational Program of General High School (직업계 고교생의 직업기초능력 잠재프로파일분석)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the vocational competency of students enrolled in vocational high schools including specialized vocational high school and meister vocational high school, and vocation program of general high school. We analyzed their vocational competency, based upon the vocational competency data of KCCI (Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry). The results were as follow. First, latent profiles of subjects were categorized into four folds: general cognition-low adaption, cognition adaption general, pursuit of job adaption, low cognition-job mal-adaption. Each percentage of four groups was 39%, 30%, 11%, and 20%. Second, mainly, specialized vocational high school pattern is matched with vocational high schools' pattern. However, the cognitive competency of students in meister vocational high school was higher than that of student in vocation program of general high school. Third, latent profile group was clarified in terms of non-cognition aspect. Fourth, The higher the job adaption is, the higher the career decision level. We suggested some policy implications for improve the vocational competency.

Prospective Mathematics Teachers' Perceptions of the Use of Hands-On Manipulatives and Technological Tools in Teaching Quadratic Curves (이차곡선 수업에서 공학도구 사용과 수작업 교구 활동에 대한 예비 수학교사들의 인식)

  • In this study, I investigated prospective mathematics teachers' perceptions of activities using Wax-paper, a hands-on material (manipulatives), and GeoGebra, a technological tool, in teaching quadratic curves. Twenty prospective mathematics teachers in the Mathematics Education Department of a local university participated in a survey on their perception of the use of hands-on materials and technological tools in teaching quadratic curves. According to the results of this study, prospective mathematics teachers generally preferred the use of technological tools for learning and teaching quadratic curves. Additionally, mathematics teachers thought that the tool helped students develop intuitive thinking through visualizing quadratic curves, enabling the exploration of various mathematical properties, assisting the comprehension of various concepts, and increasing students' interest levels. However, they were concerned about the immature use of technological tools by students or teachers, and recognized that the advantages and disadvantages of using hands-on material and technological tools were complementary. Based on these findings, it is suggested that hands-on material and technological tools should be used complementally in mathematics classes, and the development and dissemination of class materials that are not affected by students' or teachers' ability to use technological tools is important.

A View on the Deviation of Content Elements of Quadratic Curve in High School Geometry Textbooks (고등학교 기하 교과서 이차곡선 내용 요소 편차에 대한 소고(小考))

  • This study looked at the deviation of each textbook, focusing on the detailed learning content related to the quadratic curve properties contained in high school geometry textbooks. Rather than criticizing the diversity of content elements covered in high school geometry textbooks and suggesting alternatives, it focused on analyzing the actual conditions of content element diversity. The curriculum specifies that the practical application of the quadratic curve should be emphasized so that student could recognize the usefulness and value. However, as a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the purpose of the curriculum and the structure of the textbook did not match somewhat, the deviation of content elements for each textbook was quite large. In terms of acknowledging the diversity of teaching and learning, the diversity of each textbook on the methods of the introduction and the natures related to the quadratic curve can be fully recognized. But in our educational reality, which is aiming for the university entrance examination system through national evaluation such as CSAT, the results are too sensitive in society as a whole, so the diversity of expressions in mathematics textbooks is sometimes interpreted as a disadvantage of evaluation. It is time to reconsider the composition of textbooks that recognizes the diversity of content elements in textbook teaching and learning and at the same time reflects the aspect of equality in evaluation.
