  • This research examined a study on the effect of the self-determination and motivation in the crowdsourcing on the continuous participation intention. This study has classified the three elements of the self-determination which is not forced by outer pressure has intended to analyze practically the effect on the motivation of the customers participating in the crowdsourcing into the intrinsic motivation phase and extrinsic motivation phase. The autonomy, competence and relatedness could be verified with the intrinsic motivation phase of the participants who affect positively the enjoyment and accomplishment. In the effect autonomy, competence and relatedness on the monetary compensation and recognition by others of the extrinsic motivation phase, the hypothesis that the effect autonomy, competence and relatedness of the on the monetary compensation would be negative was overruled, which must have been because while the participation in the crowdsourcing is proposing voluntarily one's own ideas, the concept that the monetary compensation makes the participants participate in order to perceive others not in the voluntary proposals but in the competitive relationships and win them worked and thus the autonomy was perceived negatively. Also, the reason why the relationship between the monetary compensation and the autonomy, competence and relatedness was not supported can be said to be because the crowding-out effect which decreases the intrinsic motivation affected the external compensation and the motivation.

  • HYBE Insight, opened in May 2021, is an exhibition space that visually displays and re-interprets the BTS Universe and its content. The space echoes the identity of BTS as an artist and the specificity of the cultural phenomenon they have generated. This study analyzes HYBE Insight's BTS exhibition by applying new museological theories and discourses. Based on a qualitative research methodology including literature review and observational method, the primary themes of the exhibition are follows: 1) a contextualized exhibition content presenting the identity of BTS and their music, 2) the role of the fandom Army's participation in (re) producing BTS content related to the characteristic of popular music museums, 3) the elements of convergence art and its contemporary implication, 4) and the illumination of cultural value in popular music museum management. As the pivotal theory of new museology suggests, investigating a specific exhibition based on each context it has created is significant. However, those studies, including exhibitions related to popular music/artists, were mostly developed in Western nations. In this respect, HYBE Insight's BTS exhibition provides considerable room to explore. In addition to the recent research on BTS, such as their convergent artistry, socio-cultural influence, the role of Army, and the characteristics of HYBE's content management, this article aims to contribute to the multifaceted research by scrutinizing the BTS exhibition content from the new museology perspective.

  • Transportation policy to facilitate the public mode use is of the foremost importance to the local governments of Metropolitan Seoul, regarding the economic and environmental consequences of the increasing use of car. Understanding the travel behaviour is essential to the establishment of proper policy to guide more people to the use of public modes instead of private. The paper reports a result of sequential analysis of individual travel behaviour in Metropolitan Seoul, using a multi-dimensional motif search technique applied to Smart Card data that integrates individuals' different public mode uses. Groups of travel patterns with similar sequential information identified distinctive travel behaviour between Seoul north and south and between metro and bus uses. Travel patterns are more bounded within north Seoul and south Seoul respectively than crossing Han River between north and south. Within north and south, travel patterns visiting northern CBD and southern CBD, respectively, as well as their local neighbour in north and south, often use metro and metro-local bus combination, while travel patterns visiting only the north and south locals without CBDs more use only the local bus line and even only the areal bus line.

  • The variety show has expanded as a contemporary genre of popular culture since it first appeared as the Industrial Revolution allowed the public to enjoy their leisure time. In Korea, it has developed itself in similar ways, but it also has been criticized as low-brow. Recently, however, the real variety show has caught great attention as one of the social phenomena and is winning fervent responses from general publics as it is not consumed as a kind of entertainment show but is establishing its form and style as Korean real variety show. On the basis of these features, this paper focuses on the characteristics of real variety show as openness and expandability which can be found in the pre-modern Korea's traditional theatrical performances. Quite different from the cases in the Western culture, the Korean traditional theatrical performances used to set a stage up around the living space, attract audience to willingly approach the stage and participate in the theatre, and let them enjoy their participation. At the same time, however, The perfection of the shows had not been missed. And in comparison with the traditional theatrical performances, the present real variety show reveals the anticipation that the real variety show will not settle down just as a certain format or a genre, but accumulate its abundant contents and continue its new attempts and changes.

  • The purpose of this study is to conceptually define "spatial inclusivity" and empirically examine the impact of disability severity and spatial inclusivity on social participation among individuals experiencing physical discomfort. The social and spatial environment of the residential area is crucial for individuals with disabilities who face limited activity range and complex barriers due to physical constraints. In this study, spatial inclusivity from the perspective of people with disabilities is defined as establishment of equal relationships with non-disabled individuals within the local community, as well as the availability of basic facilities and services in a safe urban space that allows for access and utilization. This concept consists of three dimensions: individual networks, social environment, and physical environment. The physical environment encompasses safety levels, natural environment, living environment, public transportation conditions, medical services in residential areas. We used the 2019 Community Health Survey to examine the relationship between disability severity, spatial inclusivity, and social participation using a two level regression model. The findings are as follows: Firstly, personal relationships at the individual level and the physical environment at the local level have a positive impact on social participation. Secondly, when identifying dividing the physical environment into five sub-factors, no significant influence of individual factors is found. Thirdly, trustworthy and friendly social environment at the local level has a negative impact on social participation. These results provide empirical evidence that spatial inclusivity has an effect on the social participation of individuals with disabilities and suggest implications for urban planning to create and enhance conditions for the social participation of individuals with disabilities.

  • This paper analyzes the danmu phenomenon with the concept of participatory culture proposed by Henry Jenkins. Unlike other comments, Danmu is a function that allows users to post anonymously while watching a video, and comments posted at that time are immediately displayed on the screen and can be viewed by other viewers. The service was first launched by Niconico. In this paper, the danmu phenomenon in the Chinese video platform Bilibili is analyzed by focusing on three aspects. First, in terms of creative sharing under collective intelligence, we explore how users create their own creations and share them with other users through danmu. Second, in the collaboration model under public participation, the method and meaning of collective cooperation through users' interaction is dealt with. Third, in terms of financial support of commercial capital, the influence of danmu videos to create commercial profits is analyzed as a case. In addition, the negative aspects and challenges of participatory culture in Bilibili are analyzed. Negative aspects such as participation gap, copyright infringement, excessive use of danmu and problems of anonymity were reviewed, and major challenges to realize the potential of danmu as a participatory culture were suggested. This paper comprehensively analyzes danmu using research methods such as literature review and case studies, and through this, tries to derive insights on how participatory culture and danmu interact and evolve in modern society. Danmu, as a participatory medium, is an important tool that promotes individual and collective creation and interaction, and is pioneering a new boundary between the media industry and its users.

  • Crowdfunding is a novel method for funding from many individuals using web based platform often in return for products or equity. It allows individual entrepreneurs to create diverse products and services. This thesis elaborates a theoretical foundation for identifying the factors that must have motivated the funders in sponsoring crowdfunding projects. Based on the motivation theory, the proposed research model is constructed with intrinsic and extrinsic motivations from relevant literatures. We also examined how different crowdfunding modes ('Keeping It All' and 'All or Nothing') moderate the proposed research model. Based on the survey from various crowdfunding service providers in Korea, this empirical study found that continuous participation in crowdfunding is positively correlated with factors such as enjoyment, familiarity, agency credibility and reward, while peer-influence shows negative correlation. Furthermore, moderating effects of funding modes significantly affect continuous participation. These empirical results contribute insights on the emerging phenomenon of crowdfunding from funders' perspectives and shed lights more on the ways that the actions of platform providers may affect their ability to receive entrepreneurial financing.
