Design of Photoelectric Photometer using Operational Amplifier (연산증폭기에 의한 광전측광장치의 설계)

  • A prototype of photoelectric photometer has been developed by all solid state operational amplifiers. The amplification of low-level anode currents from photomultiplier tube corresponding to a given incident light intensity and logarithmic transfer for star's magnitude nleasurements are achieved by the same operational amplifier. It is important to select low input bias currents for stable performance because the resolution is primarily limited by the bias currents. As such, they offer a higher reliable and economical for a large number of electrometer amplifier applications which have traditionaly been fulfilled by vacuum electrometer tubes or vibrating reed electrometers.

  • In this article, we study the historical development of how the main concepts of linear algebra - matrices, vectors, and transformations - arise, are connected then integrated into a category. Also we study how linearity is recognized and integrated into algebraic and geometric viewpoint. Furthermore, we discuss, based on this, the role of linear algebra as a unifying concept in a school mathematics.

An Efficient Query Transformation for Multidimensional Data Views on Relational Databases (관계형 데이타베이스에서 다차원 데이타의 뷰를 위한 효율적인 질의 변환)

  • In order to provide various business analysis methods, OLAP(On-Line Analytical Processing) systems represent their data with multidimensional structures. These multidimensional data are often delivered to users in the horizontal format of tables whose columns are corresponding to values of dimension attributes. Since the horizontal tables nay have a large number of columns, they cannot be stored directly in relational database systems. Furthermore, the tables are likely to have many null values (i.e., sparse tables). In order to manage the horizontal tables efficiently, we can store them as the vertical format of tables which has dimension attribute names as their columns thus transforms the columns of horizontal tables into rows. In this way, every queries for horizontal tables have to be transformed into those for vertical tables. This paper proposed a technique for transforming horizontal table queries into vertical table ones by utilizing not only traditional relational algebraic operators but also the PIVOT operator which recent DBMS versions are providing. For achieving this goal, we designed a relational algebraic expression equivalent to the PIVOT operator and we formally proved their equivalence. Then, we developed a transformation technique for horizontal table queries using the PIVOT operator. We also performed experiments to analyze the performance of the proposed method. From the experimental results, we revealed that the proposed method has better performance than existing methods.

  • 전 세계적으로 중요한 담수 자원인 지하수의 미세플라스틱 오염에 대한 우려가 커지고 있다. 지하수 환경에서 미세플라스틱의 오염을 예측하고 평가하기 위해 대수층 내 현장 실태조사가 수행 중에 있으며, 실험실 규모의 컬럼 실험을 통해 지하수에서 미세플라스틱 이동 메커니즘을 조사하는 연구들이 수행되고 있다. 이러한 연구들은 많은 개수의 분석 시료를 동반하며, 환경 중 미세플라스틱 정량분석을 위해서 고가의 분석기기(라만분광기, 푸리에 변환 적외선(FTIR) 분광기, 열분해 가스크로마토그래피 질량분석기)를 사용하여 플라스틱의 종류를 판별하고 개수를 측정하고 있다. 또한, 컬럼 실험을 수행한 대부분의 선행 연구에서는 미세플라스틱 정량분석을 위해 탁도 분석, 분광광도계를 이용한 흡광도 분석, 현미경을 이용한 계수 방법 등을 이용하여 고가의 분석기기를 사용하지 않고 연구를 수행하였다. 하지만, 이러한 방법들은 유체 속 다른 물질이 포함되어있을 경우에 민감하고 농도를 비율 혹은 개수로 표현하기 때문에 질량 측면에서 미세플라스틱의 농도를 과소·과대 평가할 수 있다. 특히, 현미경을 이용한 계수 방법의 경우에는 분석에 많은 시간이 소요된다는 단점이 있다. 위에 언급한 다양한 분석법들의 단점들을 보완하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 대수층 내 미세플라스틱 이동 특성을 규명하기 위한 실내 실험에 사용될 수 있는 형광이미지 기반의 미세플라스틱 정량분석법을 개발하였다. Nile Red 형광염료를 이용하여 미세플라스틱을 염색하고 사진을 촬영하여 미세플라스틱 시료의 질량과 미세플라스틱 형광이미지의 형광강도 간 상관관계를 분석하였다. 또한, Nile Red로 염색된 미세플라스틱 입자의 수중 노출 테스트를 진행하여, 실내 대수층 모의실험 시 미세플라스틱 질량을 정량화할 수 있는 적용 가능성을 평가하였다. 상관 분석 결과, 미세플라스틱 질량과 이미지의 형광강도는 높은 상관관계를 보였으며, 수중 노출 실험 전과 후의 미세플라스틱 입자의 형광강도 차이는 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 본 연구에서 개발된 미세플라스틱 정량분석 방법이 포화 다공성 매체로 구성된 컬럼실험 시 유출수의 미세플라스틱 질량 추정에 유용하게 사용될 것으로 생각되며, 대수층 내 미세플라스틱의 이동 특성 규명 연구에 많은 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

  • This paper presents a multiplier free technique for the complex DFT by rotations and additions based on the complex approximation of the ring of algebraic integers. Speeding-up the computation time and reducing the dynamic range growth has been achieved by the elimination of multiplication. Moreover the DFT of no twiddle factor quantization errors is possible. Numerical examples are given to prove the algorithm and the applicable size of the DFT is 16 has been concluded.

  • In this paper, we propose a multiplication-free DFT kernel computation technique, whose input sequences are approximated into a ring of Algebraic Integers. This paper also gives computational examples for DFT and IDFT. And we proposes an architecture of the DFT using barrel shifts and adds. When the radix is greater than 4, the proposed method has a high Precision property without scaling errors due to twiddle factor multiplication. A possibility of higher radix system assumes that higher performance can be achievable for reducing the DFT stages in FFT.

Analysis and Prediction of Anchovy Fisheries in Korea ARIMA Model and Spectrum Analysis (한국 멸치어업의 어획량 분석과 예측 ARIMA 모델 및 스펙트럼 해석)

  • Forecasts of the monthly catches of anchovy in Korea were carried out by the seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model and spectral analysis. The seasonal ARIMA model is as follows: $$(1-0.431B)(1-B^{12})Z_t=(1-0.882B^{12})e_t$$ where: $Z_t=value$ at month $t;\;B^{p}$ is a backward shift operator, that is, $B^pZ_t=Z_{t-p};$ and $e_t=error$ term at month t, which is to forecast 24 months ahead the anchovy catches in Korea. The prediction error by the Box-Cox transformation on monthly anchovy catches in Korea was less than that by the logarithmic transformation. The equation of the Box-Cox transformation was $Y'=(Y^{0.58}-1)/0.58$. Forecasts of the monthly anchovy catches for $1991\~1992$, which were compared with the actual catches, had an absolute percentage error (APE) range of $1.0\~63.2\%$. Total observed annual catches in 1991 and 1992 were 170,293 M/T and 168,234 M/T respectively, while the predicted catches were 148,201 M/T and 148,834 M/T $(API\;13.0\%\;and\;11.5\%,\;respectively)$. The spectrum analysis of the monthly catches of anchovy showed some dominant fluctuations in the periods of 2.2, 6.1, 10.2 12.0 and 14.7 months. The spectrum analysis was also useful for selecting the ARIMA model.

Unsteady Groundwater Flow in Aquifer (대수층의 부정류에 관한 연구)

  • The partial differential equation of the groundwater flow was reduced to an ordinary differential equation by the Boltzmann transformation. Its numerical solutions were obtained by the finite difference method and the new method to get the initial missing slope using the Richardson method and the finite difference equation was proposed. The solutions computed by the newly proposed method were compared with investigator's computations and they showed a satisfactory agreement and that the proposed method is easy and simple to get solutions.

  • Formula for the area of a trapezoid is an educational material that can handle algebraic and geometric perspectives simultaneously. In this note, we will make up the expression equivalent algebraically to the formula for the area of a trapezoid, and deal with the conversion of a geometric point of view, in algebraic terms of translating and interpreting the expression geometrically. As a result, the geometric conversion model, the first algebraic model, the second algebraic model are obtained. Therefore, this problem is a good material to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the algebraic and geometric perspectives and to improve the mathematical insight through complementary activity. In addition, these activities can be used as material for enrichment and gifted education, because it helps cultivate a rich perspective on diverse and creative thinking and mathematical concepts.
