  • This study investigates the effects of social entrepreneurs' management competencies and background characteristics on public market performance. The government enacted the Social Enterprise Promotion Act in 2007 to create sustainable jobs and solve various social problems through social enterprises. However, contrary to expectations, the performance of social enterprise promotion has been criticized for being biased toward quantitative growth and not achieving the real policy goal of spreading the intrinsic competitiveness and net social functions of social enterprises. Under these circumstances, this study aims to investigate how the intrinsic competitiveness of social enterprises can be enhanced, especially in the public market supported by the government, by focusing on the mediating relationship between the public market performance of social enterprises and the management capabilities and experience characteristics of social entrepreneurs. The results showed that among the management competencies of social entrepreneurs, strategic competencies, technical and professional competencies, and marketing competencies have a positive effect on the public market performance of social enterprises, while managerial competencies have no effect on public market performance. Second, when it comes to the management capability characteristics of social entrepreneurs, we find that technical and professional capabilities, strategic capabilities, and marketing capabilities have a positive effect on experience characteristics, but managerial capabilities have no effect on public market performance. Third, in the test of the mediating effect of experience characteristics on the public market performance of social entrepreneurs' management competence characteristics, it is found that strategic competence and marketing competence have a statistically significant effect on public market performance, while technical and professional competence is not significant. In conclusion, experience characteristics have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between social entrepreneurs' strategic and marketing capabilities and public market performance, while experience characteristics have a full mediating effect on the relationship between technical and professional capabilities and public market performance. In order to create jobs and solve various social problems through fostering social enterprises as expected by the government, all kinds of policy support should be expanded to help social enterprises develop sustainable growth and development with intrinsic competitiveness, and in particular, various policy supports to facilitate social enterprises' entry into the public market should be considered, as well as various policy measures to help social entrepreneurs accumulate experience in various social economic activities and strengthen their management capabilities. In addition, it is essential to introduce policies to strengthen the capacity to enter the public market in policies for social enterprise leap forward and sustainability of social venture companies fostered by the government.

  • This study focuses on the determination of the fracture mode in composite laminates using deep learning. With the increase in the use of laminated composites in numerous engineering applications, the insurance of their integrity and performance is of paramount importance. However, owing to the complex nature of these materials, the identification of fracture modes is often a tedious and time-consuming task that requires critical domain knowledge. Therefore, to alleviate these issues, this study aims to utilize modern artificial intelligence technology to automate the fractographic analysis of laminated composites. To accomplish this goal, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of fractured tensile test specimens are obtained from laminated composites to showcase various fracture modes. These SEM images are then categorized based on numerous fracture modes, including fiber breakage, fiber pull-out, mix-mode fracture, matrix brittle fracture, and matrix ductile fracture. Next, the collective data for all classes are divided into train, test, and validation datasets. Two state-of-the-art, deep learning-based pre-trained models, namely, DenseNet and GoogleNet, are trained to learn the discriminative features for each fracture mode. The DenseNet models shows training and testing accuracies of 94.01% and 75.49%, respectively, whereas those of the GoogleNet model are 84.55% and 54.48%, respectively. The trained deep learning models are then validated on unseen validation datasets. This validation demonstrates that the DenseNet model, owing to its deeper architecture, can extract high-quality features, resulting in 84.44% validation accuracy. This value is 36.84% higher than that of the GoogleNet model. Hence, these results affirm that the DenseNet model is effective in performing fractographic analyses of laminated composites by predicting fracture modes with high precision.

  • Modern environmental problem that caused by the structure and system of human civil society threaten the ecological sustainability of the entire earth. Therefore it is an ecological crisis as a structural crisis. This ecological crisis is also a social crisis because it makes the survival of society difficult. Our society should aim and pursue an ecologically sustainable society because our response to this structural ecological-social crisis must be social-structured. Efforts to achieve an ecologically sustainable society call for fundamental and far-reaching changes in lifestyle, production and consumption patterns, and changes in the already established power structure that govern society today. It is necessary to pay attention to the new formulation of the constitutional law which is the legal basic order of the national community in the point that this fundamental and broad change must start from establishing the right relationship with nature. In this article, we present the principle of environmental state as a framework of constitutional norms for an ecologically sustainable society. According to M. Kloepfer, who in the late 1980s used the concept of an environmental state in Germany for the first time, the "state of the environment" refers to a "state (institution)" in which the inviolability of the environment is a measure and process goal of the state tasks and decisions. I would like to establish the environmental state as "a state that guarantees a balance between the social demands for nature and the maintenance of the natural living foundations and forms it together. In this context, I intend to establish the components of environmental state principles as follows. First, the ideological foundation of the environmental state is to respect the life community on earth, which consists of human beings and non-human beings, and to intrinsic value of nature, and to harmony with nature. In addition, the key tasks of environmental states are to secure environmental rights, responsibility for the global ecosystem and future generations, and recognition of the interests of animals. As a core social system for realizing this environmental state principle I would like to present (i) the economic order, (ii) the sustainable maintenance and management of the land and natural resources, and (iii) the agricultural and fishery industries and local communities.

  • This study investigated the specific aspects of three elementary pre-service teachers' epistemic cognition depicted in their science teaching language during a simulation teaching experiment on the seasonal change of air temperature. The integrated analytic methods of practical epistemology analysis and the AIR model were used. Also, the working processes involved in the language teaching as an epistemic tool to promote student learning were identified. At the hypothesis-forming stage of the simulation teaching, three pre-service teachers presented explicitly presented the epistemic learning goal of hypothesis-creating through giving encounters. As the epistemic ideals about assessing the achievement of an epistemic goal, the teachers mainly used the criterion whether the new knowledge was connected with the previously learned knowledge. However, all the three pre-service teachers needed to disclose the reliable process in enough detail. At the hypothesis testing stage of the simulation teaching, they presented their epistemic goals, such as sharing the results of the experiments and comparing the results with the hypothesis through encounters. They used the experimental conditions as standing fast language use. The similarity relations between the empirical evidence obtained through the experiments and the language used for the experiments were employed as the epistemic ideals for the hypothesis test. However, based on the correlation obtained from the experiment, pre-service teachers tried to verify the causal hypothesis that the seasonal change in the air temperature occurred due to the differences in the Sun's meridian altitude. The mismatch between the correlation and causality created a gap, which needed to be resolved, i.e., the reliable process was not satisfied. The results of analyzing the teaching language in this study are significant because they inform the elementary pre-service teachers of the points at which they need to improve their teaching language to facilitate the students' knowledge construction process.

  • The purpose of this study was to discover the desirable ESG direction of public institutions and obstacles to promoting ESG management as perceived by members within public institutions. To this end, three research questions were set and FGI was conducted on eight groups of public institution members. As a result of the FGI data analysis, 9 subfactors and 43 meaning units in 3 dimensions corresponding to the answers to the 3 research questions were derived. The first dimension, public institution members' awareness of ESG, consisted of three subfactors: ESG was recognized as an environmental protection trend related to the climate change crisis, and as a marketing tool used by companies to enhance their image. In addition, it was recognized as a newly included public institution management evaluation index. The second dimension, obstacles to the promotion of ESG in public institutions, appeared to be four subfactors: a government-dependent management system strongly influenced by the government, a rigid internal communication system in a top-down manner, the possibility of lack of sincerity in promoting ESG management, limitations of the internal human resource management system, etc. The third dimension, the desirable ESG direction of public institutions, was found to be two subfactors, including priority promotion of activities that meet the unique purpose of public institutions and ESG activities that can grow together with the region as a member of the local community. This study is significant in that, unlike existing studies that discovered positive antecedent factors that affect a company's ESG management performance, it identified factors that impede performance achievement from the perspective of the members who drive ESG.

  • The U.N. Security Council's North Korea Sanctions Committee estimated that the amount of North Korea's cyberattacks on virtual asset-related companies from 2017 to 2023 was about 4 trillion won. North Korea's cyberattacks have secured funds through cryptocurrency hacking as it has been restricted from securing foreign currency due to economic sanctions by the international community, and it also shows the form of technology theft against defense companies, and illegal assets are being used to maintain the Kim Jong-un regime and develop nuclear and missile development. When North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test on September 3, 2017, and declared the completion of its national nuclear armament following the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile on November 29 of the same year, the U.N. imposed sanctions on North Korea, which are considered the strongest economic sanctions in history. In these difficult economic situations, North Korea tried to overcome the crisis through cyberattacks, but as a result of analyzing the changes through the North's cyber attack cases, the strategic goal from the first period from 2009 to 2016 was to verify and show off North Korea's cyber capabilities through the neutralization of the national network and the takeover of information, and was seen as an intention to create social chaos in South Korea. When foreign currency earnings were limited due to sanctions against North Korea in 2016, the second stage seized virtual currency and secured funds to maintain the Kim Jong-un regime and advance nuclear and missile development. The third stage is a technology hacking of domestic and foreign defense companies, focusing on taking over key technologies to achieve the five strategic weapons tasks proposed by Chairman Kim Jong-un at the 8th Party Congress in 2021. At the national level, security measures for private companies as well as state agencies should be established against North Korea's cyberattacks, and measures for legal systems, technical problems, and budgets related to science are urgently needed. It is also necessary to establish a system and manpower to respond to the ever-developing cyberattacks by focusing on cultivating and securing professional manpower such as white hackers.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the long-term effects of training on the physical development and exercise performance of adolescent weightlifters, aiming to provide effective training and management strategies for improving competitive performance. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, adolescent weightlifters from middle and high schools in Chungcheongnam-do province [male middle school-aged athletes, n=5; female middle school-aged athletes, n=5; male high school-aged athletes, n=12; female high school-aged athletes, n=8] were examined over approximately 10 months of weightlifting-based training to analyse the changes in body composition, physical fitness (muscular strength, muscular endurance, agility, flexibility, dynamic balance, coordination), and isokinetic muscular function (trunk and lower extremity). As a result, it was found that the physical development of middle and high school-aged athletes underwent physical development primarily characterized by an increase in lean body mass. Additionally, back muscle strength and power, which contribute to rapid and efficient force transmission between the upper and lower body, as well as grip strength necessary for controlling the barbell with a stable grip, are significant factors. These aspects were notably enhanced through specialized training and competitive experience for weightlifting performance at the high school level. On the other hand, changes in factors beyond the primary physical attributes contributing to weightlifting performance were limited, suggesting differences in effectiveness likely stemming from the specific composition of training programs or the athletes' experience and skill levels. Collectively, the findings from this study, which evaluates the physical characteristics and exercise abilities of adolescent weightlifters, are expected to contribute to improved competitive performance of weightlifters.

  • Ecosystem services are increasingly recognized for their role in mitigating climate change, particularly through carbon storage and biodiversity. Protecting wetland ecosystems, which are vulnerable to climate change, has become a priority for achieving carbon neutrality. In response, assessment techniques for evaluating wetland value and enhancing carbon sequestration are being developed. Notably, on June 5, 2023, the natural river section of Gapcheon in Daejeon was designated as South Korea's 31st inland national wetland protection area, marking it as the only urban wetland ecosystem in the country to receive such protection. This study evaluates the habitat quality and carbon storage capacity of the Gapcheon Wetland in Daejeon using the InVEST model. To ensure reliability, this study cross-referenced data from the Ministry of Environment's Ecological Zoning Map and the National Ecological Network Map. Additionally, field surveys were conducted to analyze the organic carbon content in the sediment of the Gapcheon Wetland, assessing the applicability of the InVEST model. The habitat quality assessment using InVEST revealed scores ranging from 0.4606 to 0.0787 across different points in the wetland. Soil analysis at 18 sites showed an average organic matter content of 4.28% and organic carbon content of 2.48%, consistent with similar studies on river wetlands. Since InVEST is based on land cover data, classifications may vary depending on the region and survey period. Therefore, to enhance reliability in assessing habitat quality and carbon storage, it is essential to consider factors such as vegetation, non-vegetation environments, and biodiversity. Moreover, the current lack of standardized input data for the InVEST model in South Korea, which relies on foreign research, underscores the need for developing national coefficients and data infrastructure.

  • This thesis tried to find how the Manchurian Koreans who had experienced Chinese civil war, the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the Korean War and remained in the Northeast China got their identity as a Korean Chinese. Kim Chang-keol is an important writer who is regarded as a founder and pioneer of Korean Chinese literature. This is because he joined in both Korean literature of Manchuria and Korean Chinese literature in China and enabled the continuity of Korean-Chinese literature. He started from Man-sun Daily before liberation, then did literary creation in Man-sun Daily. However, in 1943, he declared that he would stop writing and broke his writing brush. It was January 1950, after the establishement of the People's Republic of China, that Kim Chang-keol restarted writing. The New Village which was awarded in Sinchoon Literary Contest of East-North Korean People's Press in 1950 showed a typical model of rural area that well developed by mutual cooperation under the leadership of the new country's new government. The following two works, The People of the Village(1951) and The Victory of the Village(1951) seem to be the novels about National Counter-revolutionary movement, but are the important works that gave a glimpse of the Korean War, the repercussions of the Korean-Chinese community in Northeast China and their perceptions of the Korean War. These two works indicated that the Korean War was to prevent the invasion of North Korea by the U. S. Army and Syngman Rhee's government, and called on Korean Chinese to join the war for the victory of North Korea's socialist revolution. In addition, for the Korean Chinese in China, this period was the time that the ideological tendency played a more important part than ethnic identity. On the other hand, People Who Know Happiness showed that the desire of the individual should be erased in front of the significance of nation building and indicated that it's possible to be realized by treating Mao Zedong as an idol. During the New China's construction period, the Korean-Chinese youth, not only the national identity but also formed a personal identity as Chinese citizen. In this way, Kim Chang-keol's Works After Liberation showed the fate of the Korean Chinese, the change and development of their identity and the diaspora living of the Korean people who are a minority and Chinese citizens.

  • Social enterprises, hybrid organizations that blend the logic of the public and market economies, have emerged as an alternative to market failure. However, due to the government-led compressed growth of social enterprises, many social enterprises rely on government financial support, and when the support ends, the survival rate drops significantly and the scale remains at the microenterprise level, raising concerns about the quality growth and sustainability of social enterprises. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the social entrepreneurial orientation that affects the sustainable management performance and to empirically analyze the moderating effect of network utilization capabilities in this process. To achieve the purpose of this study, a questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of member organizations in the metropolitan area, including the Incheon City Small Business Association, the Gyeonggi-do Small Business Association etc. The survey was conducted for about two months and a total of 1,300 questionnaires were distributed and 180 were returned, of which 173 were used for empirical analysis, excluding seven that were not returned. The collected survey data were subjected to structural equation modeling test using Smart PLS ver. 4.1 statistical package. The results showed that entrepreneurial value orientation and social value orientation positively influenced both economic and social performance. Convergent value orientation was only found to have an effect on economic performance, but not on social performance. Finally, the moderating effect of network capabilities was also found, suggesting that social entrepreneurial orientation positively affects organizational performance when social network capabilities are higher.
