  • Recently, to improve the load carrying capacity of column structures such as bridge piers, application to concrete-filled steel tube(CFT) type columns are increased more and more. To design the concrete-filled steel tube(CFT) columns in accuracy, influence of material and geometry properties and aspect ratio on ultimate strength of the concrete-filled steel tube column is investigated by experimental researches. In this investigation, the ultimate strength distribution of the concrete-filled steel tube column in accordance with diameter-thickness ratio(D/t) and steel-concrete area ratio(As/Ac) are clarified by the compressive tests. Futhermore, parametric experimental investigation on concrete target strength is performed. It was known from experimental observation that ultimate strength of concrete-filled steel tube column under axial compressive loading more depends on section properties of steel tube rather than concrete strength.

  • Due to single symmetry of cross section, T-shaped members are likely to buckle in a flexural-torsional mode when they are subjected to axial compression. Therefore, the flexural-torsional buckling can be regarded as a governing mode of global buckling. An experimental program has been carried out to investigate the flexural-torsional buckling behavior of pultruded T-shaped members. Two types of pultruded members were tested in the experiment, and they were made of either E-glass/vinylester or E-glass/polyester. Lay-up and thickness of reinforcing layers, volume fractions of each constituents in layers, mechanical properties were experimentally determined. Two sets of knife edge fixure were used to simulate simple support condition for flexure and twisting, and the lateral displacements and the angle of twist were measured using three potentiometers. Every specimen buckled in a flexural-torsional mode, and most of the specimens showed post-buckling strength.

  • The most typical deterioration of steel structures is corrosion damage. However, a method to evaluate residual load-carrying capacity of corroded steel structures is not yet established. It is difficult to check current serviceability and safety of the structures. In this study, compressive tests and finite element analyses were conducted on H-beams with corroded web. Then, the effect of corrosion damage on web crippling strength and evaluation methods of the web crippling strength are studied. Based on the tests, 4 H-beam specimens used in a subway construction site and 9 H-beam specimens with different web-thickness and damaged-height underwent compression-tests. To consider loading and supporting areas in the site, compressive loading was applied in the entire region of the upper and bottom flange in 5 H-beam specimens and applied partially on the regions of the upper and bottom flange in 8 specimens. The finite element analysis of 38 parametric model specimens simulating different corrosion damages was also carried out. From experimental and analytical results, the relationships between corrosion damages in the web and residual web crippling strength are presented. Factors web crippling strength was reduced are formulated by using residual average thickness and the standard deviation of the corroded web thickness. Also, a simple evaluation method of residual web crippling strength was proposed.

  • This study aim is occur in brain CT cause of beam hardening effect and reducing method, We will scan Bone opaque bead phantom on variation of image on the influence factor with equipment called 'Samatom Senation 16' with following listed herein : tube voltage, tube current, slice thickness, gantry angle, base line which affect beam-hardening effect. After that we are going to start Quantitative Analysis resulted in previous scanning and Qualitative Assessment with CT image sheet evaluation. result of quantitative analysis 140kVp $31.56{\pm}2.89HU$ on tube voltage, 150mA $-3.87{\pm}0.12HU$ on tube current, 3mm on slice thickness, and $13.31{\pm}1.03HU$ IOML on gantry angle which was the least beam-hardening effect. Like Qualitative Analysis, we went through Qualitative Assessment and most of valuers got a result of 140kVp on tube voltage, 150mA on tube current, 3mm on slice thickness. As before valuers evaluated gantry angle that scanned image from IOML or OML was the least beam-hardening effect occured. There are meaningful differences when we compare all theses factors statistically(P<0.05). therefore We consider that Minimizing artifact that caused by beam-hardening effect can provide better quality of image to deciphers and patients. if we rise tube voltage in permissible dose limit, set tube current in a limit that does not effect to image quality, use slice thickness too thin enough to harm resolution, use IOML or OML on gantry angle.

  • This study examined the change of artifact volume by analyzing the level of image change associated with the setting of threshold through 3D imaging in scan parameter(slice thickness and helical pitch) and 3D image reconstruction to explore whether the presence of pathology was fully distinguished when CT was taken by lower dose than the existent dose to reduce exposure. Furthermore, this study attempted to investigate Scan Parameter acceptable in CT to reduce exposure dose. For materials and methods, silicon was used to produce samples. Five spherical samples were produced at 10-millimeter intervals(50, 40, 30, 20, and 10 mm) in diameter and were fixed at 120 Kvp of tube voltage and 50 mA of tube current. Varied slab thickness((1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 5.0, and 7.0mm) and Helical Pitch(1.5, 2.0, 3.0) were scanned. The image at an interval of 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 5.0, and 7.0mm was transmitted to the workstation. Threshold(-200, -50, 50 ~ 1,000) was changed using the volume rendering technique, 3D image was reconstructed, and artifact volume was measured. In conclusion, 1.5 of Helical Pitch showed the least change of volume and 3.0 of helical pitch showed the greatest reduction of volume change. The experiment suggested that as slice thickness was increased, artifact volume was decreased more than actual measurement. Furthermore, in the 3D image reconstruction, when the range of threshold was set as -200 ~1,000, artifact volume was changed the least. Based on the results, it is expected to have an effect of reducing exposure dose.

  • In the companion paper (Model Development), an analytical model estimating the available rotation capacity of fully restrained beam-column connections in special steel moment-resisting frames was proposed. In this paper, two limit states were considered as the connection rotation capacity criteria: (i) strength degradation failure when the strength falls below the nominal plastic strength due to the local buckling of the beam's cross-section and (ii) low-cycle fatigue fracture caused by plastic strain accumulation at the buckled flange after only a few cycles of high-amplitude deformation. A series of analyses are conducted using the proposed model with two limit states under monotonic and cyclic loadings. Beam section geometric parameters, such as flange and web slenderness ratios, varied over the practical ranges of H-shapedbeams to observe their effect on the rotation capacity and low-cycle fatigue life of pre-qualified WUF-W connections.

  • In this study, the flexural behavior of the RC Arch Deck under static loading was evaluated. Flexural test was carried out using an actual size RC Arch Deck with a length of 2.5 m, a center thickness of 100 mm and an end thickness of 160 mm. The test results showed that it's ultimate load was 1.74 times higher than the ultimate design load. On the other hand, it showed that the flexural behavior has different behaviors (i.e. different stiffness). This type of structural behavior indicates that it has inter-dependency between the deck and the supporting girder. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm the precise behavior by the static loading test of the RC Arch Deck, excluding the girder effect in the future study. The overall results showed that RC Arch Deck has excellent structural performance due to the structural advantages of the arch shape. In the future, the RC Arch Deck can be applied as a long span slab.

  • This study investigates the bearing pressure distribution and design of an H-section steel column baseplate under concentric loading. In general, the size and thickness of the baseplate are determined with the assumption that the bearing pressure of the column baseplate is distributed uniformly. When the column is loaded lightly, however, the baseplate becomes smaller andthinner and the bearing pressure of the baseplate is distributed non-uniformly. In this study, the distribution of the bearing pressure is investigated using the experimental method and the analytical method. Seven specimens of the H-section steel column baseplate were fabricated and tested. The analysis of the specimens was performed using the finite element analysis program, ANSYS. It is not appropriate to use the Limit State Design, which assumes that the bearing pressure of the baseplate is distributed uniformly, because the bearing pressure is distributed non-uniformly and is concentrated under the column sectio.

  • This paper present a study on the flexural behavior of composite slabs using the flat-type profiled(ACE-DECK) steel deck plate which are developed recently. Forty eight composite slabs with different thickness, span, shear span and deck profile were tested to evaluate the flexural capacity and compared to the existing traperzodial deck profiles (KEM, ALPHA-DECK) According to the experiment results, flat-type profiled steel deck plate indicates more excellent capacity than existing traperzodial deck profiles in strength, stiffness, and ductility. The equation proposed by ASCE code for the effective moment of inertia are more acceptable than the equation proposed by ACI code. Thus, in this paper, test results are summarized by strength, stiffness, and deformation capacity for the specimens.

  • In this study, the bearing pressure distribution and design method of rectangular steel tubular column base plates under concentric loading were investigated. In general, the size and thickness of the baseplate are determined with the assumption that the bearing pressure of the column baseplate is uniformly distributed. When the column is loaded lightly, however, the size of the baseplate becomes smaller, the thickness becomes thinner and the bearing pressure of the baseplate is not distributed evenly. In this study, the distribution of the bearing pressure was investigated using the experimental and analytical methods. Four test specimens of the rectangular steel column baseplate were fabricated and tested. The analysis of the specimens was done using the finite element analysis program ANSYS. The result was that it was appropriate to use the effective width method to design the lightly loaded column baseplate, because the bearing pressure was not distributed evenly and was only concentrated under the column section.
