The purpose of this study was to suggest policy implications for bridging digital divide of the students of multicultural background. Specifically, through maximizing equity of Information technology, the current study suggested the need for greater intervention and comprehensive strategies in the interests of a socially inclusive information society, of benefit to the IT disadvantaged. To achieve the research goal, I reviewed a variety of policy reports and previous studies related to the issue of digital divide and multicultural education, and draw useful implications for the policy change. The major research results were as the following: a policy change in a support of personal computer toward public place rather than individual home, widening use of e-learning service as a tool for bridging the digital divide, and the training for teachers and parents to provide an effective education to reduce the digital divide.

This study deals with problems of acquisition of multicultural materials published in many countries where immigrants living in Korea came from. Until these days, libraries that want to support immigrant community in S. Korea have had many difficulties in acquiring those materials because they used informal acquisition methods and mother countries of the immigrants in Korea have lower quantities and quality of book production and distribution system than developed countries. Through literature review and interviews, some recommendations are suggested : utilizing domestic vendors or book jobbers, contacting online bookstores, publishers and local bookstores in mother countries of the immigrants in Korea, attending international book fairs held in different Asian countries and taking buying trips for multicultural materials and connecting organizations and people related with multicultural materials. This study gives some benefits to libraries that are developing area studies, language and literature collection as well as libraries that are developing multicultural collection.

This study aims to quantitatively assess collection and circulation data of one small library in an area where multicultural users are concentrated and draw policy implications on improving multicultural services for public libraries. The Ansan Multicultural Small Library was selected for examining the library's collection and circulation usages from 2016 to 2022. The numbers of collection and circulation, collection turnover rates and use factors were calculated by year, language, and KDC subject. The result of this study presents the empirical evidence drawn from users' circulation usage, which can be a basis for leading to valid collection development and multicultural service policies.

The purpose of this study is to develop the public library programs that support the needs of multicultural families by examining the details of their information needs, focusing on the children's education issues of multicultural families. For this purpose, the data on experiences and needs related to the education of multicultural families' children were collected through in-depth interviews with married immigrant women. The study found the following six types of children's education-related needs of multicultural families: 1) Lack of understanding about the educational system and situation of Korean schools, 2) Their children's needs for language and learning 3) Their children's Bilingual education 4) Educational information for the role of parents, 5) Prejudice and discrimination against their children at school 6) Supporting library awareness and experience of mulitcultural families. Based on these needs, the following programs were suggested: 1) Parent role program for children's education, 2) Children's learning program, 3) Children's language education program, 4) Multicultural understanding education, 5) Library user education and guidance.

최근 다문화 학생에 대한 문화교육이 절실하게 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 로블록스를 이용하여 다문화 교육을 요리를 통해서 할 수 있게 설계하였다. 다양한 멀티미디어 도구의 이용을 통해서 비대면 교육으로 대면 교육 이상의 성과를 낼 수 있도록 설계하였다. 이를 토대로 다양한 문화 체험을 할 수 있는 시스템으로 확장하도록 시스템을 설계하였다.

There are various remedies that are proposed from aspects of education and social welfare for social integration of multi-cultural families which is different from ethnic and cultural background. This study proposed educational process model for information literacy education of multi-cultural children. The proposed model is consedered to reduce digital divide by using five factor from the earlier information literacy. At last, this study explained characteristics, objective, contents, teaching-learning method and estimating method of proposed model.

Analyzing research paper published from 2005 to 2010, this study aims for analysing the research paradigm on multi-culture and understanding the structural characteristics of the multicultural knowledge via scientometric. Co-word network constructed by keywords in documents and their co-occurrence relationships is a kind of mapping knowledge structure. A total of 4,521 and 1,373 papers published between 2005 and 2010 were retrieved from the KRF Registered Journals and Proposed Journals. This paper employs k-core analysis method in the field of mapping knowledge structure to analyze keyword co-occurrence network of multicultural research in Korea. And Netminer 3 is employed to visualize the networks in this paper.

This study aims to discuss cataloging on multicultural collection in Korean libraries. Especially, this study emphasized to derive a lesson of immeasurable value from the cataloging experience in International Children's Library at Asia School. To the end, (1) comprehensive literature survey and analysis were conducted to introduce the discussion on cataloging for multicultural or multilingual collection, (2) the cataloging examples were examined comprehensively (the data needed were collected by public, academic and nonofficial libraries in Korea, as well as several libraries in North America), and finally (3) cataloging policy and practices for multicultural collection were suggested on the basis of the experience in International Children's Library at Asia School.

The In Korea, where multicultural families are increasing, the need to reinforce multicultural competencies has been raised in education. Accordingly, this study selected 7 art textbooks of 2015 revised middle school and analyzed the proportion of the textbook's reference works and contents from the Macfee's perspective of multicultural education. As a result of the analysis, first, the proportion of multicultural reference works by region was high in Korean works(44%) and Western works (43%), whereas that of Eastern works(13%) was very low. In the experience area, 13.8% more Western works were included than Korean works, and Western works were also concentrated in USA and Europe. Second, as a result of analyzing the proportion of multicultural contents, 57.7% of the total units, or 90 units out of 156, contained multicultural contents. As a result, compared to the 2009 revised art textbooks, the 2015 revised middle school art textbooks have expanded the proportion of multiculturalism.

본 논문에서는 한국사회에서 미래 100년 동안 사회 경제 분야의 가장 중요한 핵심 문제로 대두되어질 다문화가정과 관련하여 IT와 융합된 전자책 시스템을 기반으로 자녀교육에 대한 해결책을 제시하기 위하여 7개국의 유명한 전래동화책을 수집, 분석하고 번역하여 다국어 전자책으로 제작하고 서적, CD, 웹사이트, 스마트폰을 이용하여 세계 각국의 다문화가정 교육모델로 제시하고 서비스한다. 구현되어진 다국어 전자책 모델 시스템은 국내 다문화가정 어린이의 이중 언어 교육을 통하여 부모와 연계된 다문화 시대의 문화적 언어적 문제를 해결하며 다문화 어린이들의 글로벌 마인드 함양 및 다문화를 기반으로 한 사회적 통합을 추진하며 세계 최고수준의 유비쿼터스 인터넷 인프라 기반 서비스를 통하여 전자책 서비스의 글로벌 표준을 제시한다. 다국어 전자책 모델 시스템은 국가지원과제 신청을 통하여 지역사회를 통한 복지 분야 행정시스템을 기반으로 무료 보급하며 2011년 독일에서 개최되는 국제도서전에 출품하여 글로벌 보급 활성화와 교육성과에 대한 발표를 추진한다.
