  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the improve on brain activity during action observation training for cerebral palsy of diplegia. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: 18 subjects were divide into two groups: action observation training group and a control group. Action observation group practiced repeatedly the action with their motor skill and control group practiced conventional physical therapy. The subjects participated in eighteen 30-min sessions, 3 day a week, for 6week. To confirm the effects on brain activity were evaluated. Results: The results show that the Mu-rhythm was statistically significant increase on the C3 of the action observation training group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The action observation training improves brain activity of a cerebral palsy with diplegia. These results suggest that the action observation training is feasible and beneficial for improving brain activation for the cerebral palsy with diplegia. In the future, I think we need to be actively utilized to the action observation training program in the clinical with the neuromuscular development treatment. And the study on the various the action observation training program that can improve the function of the children with cerebral palsy is thought necessary.

  • Hand function evaluations are an important element of the assessment process in physical rehabilitation settings. The purpose of this study was to investigate hand function evaluation. Subjects consisted of 20 with spastic cerebral palsy(mean age = 9.8, SD = 1.6) and 20 with athetoid cerebral palsy(mean age = 9.6, SD = 2.3). Two groups of subjects were tested twice(pretest and posttest) by the JHFT to measure evaluations of hand function. These findings suggest that on four subtests - writing, card turning, large heavy objects and Stacking Checker-the spastic cerebral palsy perform significantly faster than athetoid cerebral palsy. But there were no significant differences between the pretest and posttest in spastic and athetoid cerebral palsy. To see the statistical differences in the experimental results was done using origin V. 3.0.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in the gross motor function, self-esteem and social ability of children with cerebral palsy from group exercise program for physical and emotional interaction. Methods : Five cerebral palsy children who live in U city were recruited this study. Exercise sessions were held for 1 hour per session, once per week, for 12 consecutive weeks. At pre-treatment and post-treatment, subject were tested gross motor function measure, self-esteem and social ability. Results : After 12 weeks of paticipation in the group exercise program for physical and emotional interaction, there were improvements for gross motor function measure, self-esteem and social ability. Conclusion : Group exercise program for physical and emotional interaction can improve gross motor function, self-esteem and social ability.

  • The Purpose of this study was to compare the different of normal development and walking characteristics of children with spastic cerebral palsy, and to guide theraputic approach for improve on walking. Key contributions from normal development of standing and walking, abnormol walking pattern of children with spastic cerebral palsy are studies. Spastic cerebral palsy includes an increased factors of problem in standing, walking : These are deformity of lowerextremities, arm used for balancing, asymmetic walking, abnormal walking patterns, build .up Treatment goal is to normal walking patterns. and to prevent secondary deformity. In this study, normal walking is very important factors in daily activities, then to recovery function of children with cerebral palsy, its need more adapted several method.

  • Purpose : The aim of this study was to determine the reliability of parents and therapists-assessed manual ability using the Manual Ability Classification System (MACS) for children with cerebral palsy Methods : Subjects were 136 children with cerebral palsy using rehabilitation programs in 16 welfare centers. Reliability was determined using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Parents and therapists assessed manual ability of children using MACS. Result : The 136 children (Male 73, Female 63) mean age was 7y 5mo years [range 3y 11mo - 13y 5mo]. The overall agreement between parents-assessed and therapists- assessed MACS was good (ICC = 0.84, 95% confidence interval 0.77-0.88). Conclusion : The MACS offers a reliable method for population-based research and communicating about the manual ability of children with CP.

  • Consideration for therapy method and oral motor function character of children with cerebral palsy. Therapists who treat for feeding disorder children owing the regression of oral motor function are necessary to gain knowledge about dysfunction of sensing, perception and cognition with baffling to eat and inhibition of primitive reflex, oral anatomy and function, and motor control (trunk, head, positioning of the upper limbs and the lower limbs and muscle tone). Oral motor function program is a comprehensive rehabilitation program which requires systematized enforcement and collaborated attempts to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychotherapists. Especially, physical therapists are not accustomed to oral motor program, hoping to provide diffusely and apply new therapy approach method for many areas (bell's palsy, respiratory failure, speech articulation). It will comprise to study owing to holistic approach with clinic.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the effect of biomechanical intervention, based on the custom seating system on the activities of a mouse click for children with cerebral palsy. Methods: Thirteen children with cerebral palsy participated in this study. We compared reaction time and frequency for proper mouse click in the subject's typical position, in addition to an intervention position. The intervention position conformed to the principle and practice of research on promoting the upper-extremity movement and postural control. The intervention position was achieved through an external postural support, which was based on the custom seating system. Results: Reaction time and frequency for proper mouse click were moderately improved in the intervention position, compared with that of the typical position. There was a statistically significant difference between the typical position and that of the intervention position (p<0.05). Conclusion: Results provide evidence of the positive effects of functional seating on the activities of a mouse click for children with cerebral palsy.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether there are any differences, with and without a toe spreader (TS), in dynamic foot pressure distribution in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. Methods: Dynamic foot pressure recording using the RSscan system were obtained during walking in 12 participants (male=7, female=5) with and without TS. Mean force was measured for four different plantar regions; great toe, forefoot, midfoot, hindfoot. Displacement of center of pressure (COP), velocity of COP displacement and stance time were also measured during gait. Results: TS walking exhibited statistically significant decrease of mean force under great toe and forefoot (p<0.05), compared with a barefoot walking. Also, TS walking exhibited statistically significant increase of antero-posterior displacement of COP (p>0.05). Conclusion: These findings indicate the potential clinical utility of toe spreader to correct dynamic foot pressure during stance phase in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.
