A Study on the Oxygen Saturation Level Changes in the Blood Exposed to the Static Magnetic Field (자속에 노출된 인체의 혈중 산소 포화농도의 변화에 관한 연구)

  • The effects of static magnetic field on the human biological system are becoming increasingly more important with the adaption of static magnet in the medical community. It is the goal of this paper to review the effects of static magnetic fields on oxygen saturation level in blood. The results of this paper show that the oxygen saturation level increased in the blood in index finger when the static magnetic dipole was fitted on index finger.

Effects of ${\alpha}-linolenic$, eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids administration on lowering of triacylglycerol level in the hepatic and serum of rats (n-3계 지방산 투여가 성장기 흰쥐의 간장 및 혈청 Triacylglycerol 농도에 미치는 영향)

  • We studied the difference effects of dietary ${\alpha}-linolenic\;acid\;({\alpha}-LA,\;18:3\;n-3)$, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5 n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6 n-3) on the lowering of triacylglycerol in the liver and serum on lipid metabolism in rats. Rats were fed semipurified diets containing 10% fat with constant polyunsaturated/monounsaturated/saturated fatty acids (1:1:1) and n-6/n-3 ratio (1:2). EPA (98%) and DHA (98%) were added in diets as the ethyl esters. The concentration of liver triacylglycerol was significantly lower in rats fed both EPA and DHA than in those fed ${\alpha}-LA$. The concentration of liver phospholipid was significantly higher in rats fed DHA than in those fed ${\alpha}-LA$ and EPA. Both EPA and DHA reduced serum triacylglycerol concentration compared with ${\alpha}-LA$, but this effect was more pronounced in the EPA diet. The activity of phophatidate phosphohydrolase in the liver microsome was significantly lower in rats fed both EPA and DHA than in those fed ${\alpha}-LA$. but, there was no significant difference on the activities of diacylglycerol acyltransferase among the three groups. The concentration of liver triacylglycerol were correlated with changes in the microsomal phosphatidate phosphohydrolase activity (r=0.84). Hepatic NADPH generating enzyme, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase was more effective to reduce the activity in rats fed both EPA and DHA than in those fed ${\alpha}-LA$. In conclusion, EPA or DHA reduced the hepatic triacylglycerol concentration by inhibiting microsomal phosphatidate phosphohydrolase, thereby inhibiting synthesis of triacylglycerol in the liver.

Effects of Feeding Bupleurum falcatum L. on Performance, Blood Component and Hormone Concentration in Broiler Breeder Hens (육용종계 사료에 시호(Bupleurum falcatum L.)의 첨가가 생산능력, 혈액의 성상 및 호르몬 분비에 미치는 영향)

  • An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of feeding Bupleurum falcatum L.(BFL) on performance, blood component and hormonal secretion in broiler breeder hens. A total of 800 broiler breeder hens were allotted to four treatments(BFL ; 0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0%) with four replications for eight weeks. Weight gain was not significantly different between the groups in growing period($20{\sim}24$ weeks), but egg production and egg mass of broiler breeder hens fed BFL were significantly(p<0.05) higher than those of the control groups in laying period($24{\sim}28$ weeks). Dietary BFL did not affect serum triglyceride concentration, whereas serum cholesterol concentration was significantly increased(p<0.05) in 2.0% BFL-fed groups. No statistical differences were found in serum glucose, Ca, P, Mg, total protein, albumin, GGT, AST, ALT and BUN concentrations. However, albumin/globulin ratio was statistically higher in BFL-fed groups compared to the control groups(p<0.05). Serum estrogen concentrations were significantly increased by feeding a diet containing 0.5% BFL, but progesterone were not influenced. Serum IGF-I of BFL groups was greater than that of control groups at 28 weeks(p<0.05). In conclusion, the results suggest that the dietary addition of BFL into broiler breeder diets improved egg production, serum estrogen and IGF-I concentration, and decreased serum cholesterol concentration and albumin/globulin ratio.

Study on Sediments' Release for Water Characteristics in Agricultural Reservoirs (농업용저수지의 수질 특성에 따른 퇴적물의 용출 영향 연구)

  • 본 연구는 오염된 농업용 저수지에 대하여 수층에 따른 수질 변화 특성을 조사하고, 저수지 저부의 퇴적물에 대한 용출 실험을 통해 수층별 수질 특성이 퇴적물의 용출에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 수행되었다. 연구 대상 저수지의 선정은 설치년도 1960년대를 기준으로 이전과 이후로 분류하였으며, 주요 오염원을 축산계와 생활계 오염원으로 분류하여 각 다른 특성을 가진 저수지를 선정하여 조사하였다. 내부 오염 부하량이 수체에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위해 실시한 용출량 실험 결과, 호기 조건에서 축산계오염원 저수지의 T-P가 미미하게 용출이 일어난 것을 제외하고는 생활계, 축산계오염원 저수지에서 용출이 일어나지 않았다. 반면에 혐기 조건의 경우에는 생활계오염원 보다는 축산계오염원 저수지에서, 1960년대 이후 설치된 저수지에서 보다는 1960년대 이전에 설치된 저수지에서 용출이 크게 일어나는 것으로 조사 되었다. 혐기 조건에서 T-N의 경우 생활계오염원과 1960년대 이후 설치된 저수지에서는 용출이 일어나지 않았으나, 그 외의 항목에서는 모두 용출이 일어나는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 혐기조건에서는 모든 연구대상 저수지에서 T-P의 용출이 크게 일어나는 것으로 조사되었는데, 이는 부영양화의 주요 영향인자로 작용할 수 있으므로 저수지 저부의 혐기조건이 형성되는 것을 제어?관리해야 할 필요성이 있다고 하겠다. 연구 저수지에 대한 현장 조사 결과, 가뭄의 영향으로 수위가 평년에 비해 상당히 낮았으며, 저수량의 부족으로 저수지 주변의 바닥이 드러나거나 유출이 없는 등의 특징을 보였다. 수심이 낮은 5~7월의 조사 시기에는 표층의 DO 농도가 높음에도 저층부의 DO 농도는 1.2~2.2 mg/L를 나타내 약혐기조건이 형성됨을 확인하였다. 또한 현장측정기(HYDROLAB_Quanta)를 이용한 DO측정시, 저층부 퇴적물의 재부유를 막기 위해 저층경계면에서 30~50cm 윗부분을 측정했다는 점에서 저층부 바닥면의 DO 농도가 더 낮을 수 있다고 추정할 수 있다. 이는 이 시기에 퇴적층에 존재하는 오염물질의 용출이 충분히 일어날 수 있으며, 이후 8~11월에 수계 내 환란 및 순환에 의해 오염물질이 수중으로 이동하게 되고, 수질을 악화시키는 원인으로 작용할 수 있음을 추론할 수 있다. 이와 같이 퇴적되어 있던 오염물질이 계속적으로 용출 및 순환을 해마다 반복한다면 해당 저수지는 장기간 수질 오염 저수지가 될 수밖에 없을 것이다. 따라서 이러한 내부오염부하가 크다고 판단되는 저수지에 대하여 오염퇴적물의 관리가 필요하다고 하겠다.

  • Potential teratogenicity of Azinphos-methyl and Carbaryl was investigated in developing chick embryos. $100\;\mu\textrm{l}$ of Azinphos-methyl and Carbaryl was injected into air sac on day 4 of incubation. Body weight changes and morphological changes were examined. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Body length, limb lengths and claw length of groups treated with high dose of Azinphosmethyl and Carbaryl were significantly shortened compared to untreated of vehicle control and body weights of them were significantly lower than those of control groups. 2. Treatment of Azinphos-methyl and Carbaryl increased incidence ratios of dead embryo by dosage (Azinphos-methyl: 18%, 21%, 41%, Carbaryl: 26%, 50%). 3. One case of beak malformation occurred in Carbaryl treatment group.

  • 최근 들어 지구온난화의 영향 등 기후변화에 따라 호우의 빈도와 강도가 증가하여 홍수피해가 확대되고 토사재해, 댐과 저수지의 퇴사 문제가 심각하게 대두되고 있다. 특히 농업용저수지의 경우 제체가 노후화되고 유입토사에 의한 퇴사는 심각한 수준에 있다. 또한 도심중심의 다양한 공사 등은 토지 이용과 피복을 변화시켜 많은 토사 유출의 원인이 되고 있다. 이렇게 노출된 토사는 탁수발생원이 되고, 토사와 부유물로 형성된 탁수환경은 수중의 태양복사에너지 전달을 방해하여 수중생태계의 먹이사슬과 저서생물의 서식환경에 악영향을 미치고 있다. 특히 농업용 저수지는 반폐쇄성 수역으로써 탁수환경에 노출되기 쉬우며, 수질회복에는 많은 노력과 비용이 소요된다. 또한 탁수환경의 변화는 시 공간적으로 발생하고 지속적으로 일어나기 때문에 탁수환경에 미치는 토사에 대한 연구는 우선적으로 시행되어야 한다. 이러한 토사 정보의 추출 및 분석에 RS기법의 활용은 증대되고 있으나 우리나라에서는 아직 연구가 미진하여, 이에 대한 기초연구가 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구는 2단계로 진행하였다. 먼저 1단계는 탁도계(2100P turbidimeter)를 이용하여 토사농도 변화에 따른 탁도를 측정하여 탁도 관계식을 추정하였다. 2단계는 분광복사계(LI-1800)를 이용하여 토사농도 변화에 따른 분광반사율을 측정하고, 얻어진 결과는 도함수와 적분의 수치해석 방법으로 토사농도를 측정할 수 있는 최적밴드를 구하였다. 다음으로 각 밴드간의 비를 계산하여 탁수환경을 측정할 수 있는 가장 적합한 밴드 조합식을 구하였다. 얻어진 밴드 조합식은 1단계에서 추정한 토사농도에 따른 탁도 관계식과의 상관관계를 분석하여 분광복사계를 이용한 탁도 관계식을 추정하였다. 그 결과, 6개의 탁도 관계식이 추정되었으며 결정계수 $R^2$는 0.67의 높은 상관성을 보였다.

Concentration of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers and Their Composition in Octopus minor Collected from Seosan Intertidal Zone (낙지(Octopus minor)에서의 브롬계화합물(Polybrominated diphenyl ethers, PBDEs)의 잔류농도와 조성특성)

  • Octopus(Octopus minor), benthic cephalopod, were collected from intertidal zone in Seosan, Choongnam and analyzed for polybrominted diphenyl ethers(PBDEs). PBDEs concentrations ranged from 29 to 109 ng/g lipid wt(mean; 54 ng/g) in mantle and from 12 to 89 ng/g lipid wt(mean; 48 ng/g) in internal organ. PBDEs concentrations in octopus internal organ were lower about two times than that in common squid collected in Yellow Sea, indicating Seosan is relatively less contaminated with PBDEs. Major congener was BDE 206, occupying 72% and 49% of total PBDE concentration in mantle and in internal organ, respectively, which is very different from PBDE composition in common squid with major congeners of BDE 47 and 99. From PBDE composition, octopus seemed to concentrate higher brominated BDE rather than lower brominated BDE. This PBDE composition in octopus may be affected by sediment with extremely high contribution of deca-BDE to total PBDE concentration.

Gate Field Alleviation by graded gate-doping in Normally-off p-GaN/AlGaN/GaN Hetrojunction FETs (상시불통형 p-GaN/AlGaN/GaN 이종접합 트랜지스터의 게이트막 농도 계조화 효과)

  • In this work, we proposed a graded gate-doping structure to alleviate an electric field in p-GaN gate layer in order to improve the reliability of normally-off GaN power devices. In a TCAD simulation by Silvaco Atlas, a distribution of the graded p-type doping concentration was optimized to have a threshold voltage and an output current characteristics as same as the reference device with a uniform p-type gate doping. The reduction of an maximum electric field in p-GaN gate layer was observed and it suggests that the gate reliability of p-GaN gate HFETs can be improved.

Kinetics of Lipase Reactions in Two Phase System (이상계내에서 리파제의 반응동력학)

  • Two phase reaction system was used to hydrolyze the olive oil for fat splitting. Kinetics of lipases in two phase system were investigated by determining the hydrolysis rate of triglycerides at various olive oil concentrations in isooctane using the microbial lipases from Candida rugosa and Rhizopus arrhizus. The rate equation in lipid hydrolysis for various olive oil concentrations in two phase system was deviated from the Michaelis-Menten kinetics. The results suggested that the olive oil concentration in isooctane affects the interfacial area. The dependency of the interfacial area on olive oil concentration is greater at the lower olive oil concentration than at the higher substrate concentration. We modified the rate equation by considering the interfacial area between two phases depending on the olive oil concentration in solvent phase.

Fire Extinguishing Ability of Binary Gaseous Extinguishing Agents Evaluated by Cup Burner and Numerical Studies (이성분계 가스계소화약제 소화성능의 컵버너실험 및 이론적 고찰)

  • The search for a new fire-extinguishing agent with all the desirable properties of halon 1301 has not been successful. To study binary gaseous extinguishing agents instead, one has to determine the extinguishing concentrations for several compositions of a given chemical in an inert gas. This process is expensive and time consuming. The fire suppression efficiencies of gas mixtures of HFC 125 and HFC 227ea with nitrogen as total flooding agents were studied by cup burner method. It was shown that addition of small amounts of those extinguishants to nitrogen can enhance the suppression effectiveness of the inert gas. As expected, the degree of synergism was highest at low concentrations of the chemical. For each binary system, extinguishing concentrations of the pure compounds and one binary data were used to predict the extinguishing concentrations for the entire range of binary composition. The predicted values were very close to experimental data.
