Improving Likelihood of Publication: A Review of the Process (우수 학술지에 논문이 게재되는 과정에 대한 고찰)

  • In order to successfully develop papers and have them published in notable academic journals, researchers need to be fully informed and prepared regarding the challenges publication of papers present. This study focuses on approaches for improving likelihood of publication. It first examines the development process of papers and then addresses the importance of successful revisions after the review process. It then identifies several factors which can influence the performance of papers. Finally, it concludes by offering several implications for developing papers as well as suggestions for future research.

Analysis of Trend in Comparative Education Research Related to Curriculum in the 「Korean Journal of Comparative Education」 from Postcolonial Perspectives (탈식민주의 관점에서 본 국내 교육과정 관련 비교교육 연구 동향: 「비교교육연구」 학술지에 게재된 논문을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to review the trend in comparative education research related to curriculum published in the Korean Journal of Comparative Education, and to critically analyze its characteristics from the postcolonial perspectives. In this study, I analyzed 61 articles published in this journal from 1995 to 2016. The result showed that comparative studies related to curriculum were conducted mainly by benchmarking policies or contents related to curriculum and textbooks of Western countries including North America and Europe as well as Japan which colonized Korea. In addition, although Korea has been changing into multicultural society, studies on Asian countries such as China and Vietnam which are the nationalities of many foreigners living in Korea were rare. Based on the results, this study suggested that the expansion of comparative education research subjects, overcoming of coloniality in comparative education, and ontological reflection of comparative education researchers are necessary.

  • 무한경쟁의 세계질서에 대응하기 위하여 과학기술 발전의 기반을 이루고 있는 학회정보유통의 경쟁력을 확보하는 일이 중요해지고 있다. 특히 과학기술 관련학회는 방대한 자료를 축적 및 생산하고 있는 첨단 과학기술정보의 보고로서 이러한 정보를 신속하게 실수요자에게 유통시킬 수 있는 기반 마련이 요구되고 있다. 이에 과학기술통합정보시스템 구축 사업의 일환으로 구축된 학회정보유통체제는 정보의 생성단계부터 서비스 단계까지를 시스템화하였다. 즉, 심사논문의 제출단계부터 게재여부 결정단계까지의 모든 과정을 시스템화하여 발생하는 모든 정보를 관리하고 게재 결정된 논문들은 자동적으로 데이터베이스로 구축되어 일반사용자들에게 첨단정보론 신속하게 제공할 수 있는 체제를 구축하였다.

  • 인터넷의 급격한 발달과 보급으로 정보환경이 변함에 따라 이용자의 정보 요구도 변하게 되었으며 사서 고유의 전문성도 위협을 받게 되었다. 본 고에서는 정보의 입수과정 보다는 논문작성 과정에서 도움을 필요로 하는 최근의 이용자의 요구를 충족시키고 사서의 전문성을 활용할 수 있는 서비스로서 논문작성의 준비부터 논문의 작성, 투고, 게재에 이르기까지의 모든 단계를 지원하는 연구논문 지원 서비스를 제시하였다. 국내외의 문헌과 사례를 조사하고 삼성의학정보센터에서 실시하였던 서비스를 소개하였으며 앞으로 확장 발전시킬 사서의 역할에 대해 정리하였다.

Research Trends of Articles in the Journal of Korean Home Economics Education Association during the Last Decade (2009. 3~2018. 12) (한국가정과교육학회지 게재 논문의 연구동향: 최근 10년간(2009. 3~2018. 12)을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the structure and contents of the articles in the Journal of Korean Home Economics Education Association to review the research trends during the last decade since 2009. In total, 354 articles from 10 volumes, 40 journal books, were analyzed. This amount to 42.3% of total articles in the JKHEEA for the past 30 years. The results showed that the number of articles in the journal continuously decreased by approximately 5 articles each year. More than half of articles were co-authored as a joint-research between professors and teachers or graduate students. The numbers of pages, tables, figures, and references vary greatly among of the articles published in the JKHEEA. The reviewers and authors would need to check if the pages, tables/figures, or references are indispensable, especially in case there are extremely large number of them. Even though survey research with students as participants is still the most common types of research among recent articles, its percentage is decreasing and diverse research methods such as the analysis of textbook or curriculum literature are being used. Also, research integrating the pedagogy and educational content, and in turn developing and evaluating educational programs is increasing, which indicates that the journal identity has become better-defined. It is advisable that authors select the key words that are more relevant to the title, purpose, and research questions. It is expected that the journal revises the publication regulations so that the issues discussed in this study may be reflected.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the statistical trend and errors of articles in the journal of Korean society of computed tomographic technology for contribution to the academic development of the professional society. Preliminary findings indicate that there are various statistical errors in the papers in the journal of Korean society of computed tomographic technology. Results suggest that the statistical education needs to be strengthened from university education to instructional course lecture of academic society. The improvement of the quality of the paper by improving awareness of the statistical error.

연구여적 - 국산품은 모두 저질인가?

  • 1956년 서울대 공과대학에 입학한 나는 대학졸업 후 잠시 취직을 하였다가 대학원에 입학하여 석사과정을 마치고 1967년 박사과정에 입학 서울대 공과대학 신제박사 1호를 기록했다. 그 후 서울대 화공과에서는 1백38명의 박사를 배출하여 그들은 외국에서 학위를 받은 사람들과 어깨를 같이하며 대학고 연구소에서 일하고 있다. 그런데 최근 대학교수와 연구원들을 평가함에 있어 그 잣대를 SCI등재 논문수에만 치우치는 것 같아 안타깝다. 국내 학술지에 게재된 논문도 정당한 평가를 받아야 하지 않겠는가.

An analysis of domestic research trends of mathematics curriculum research through topic modeling: Focused on domestic journals published from 1997 to 2019 (토픽모델링을 활용한 국내 수학과 교육과정 연구 동향 분석 : 1997년부터 2019년까지 게재된 국내 수학교육 학술지 논문을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed 493 domestic mathematics curriculum articles published in KCI's listings from 1997 to 2019 using LDA topic modeling. As a result, domestic mathematics curriculum research could be categorized into eight topics such as 'context in a curriculum', 'analysis a curriculum by the mathematical concept', 'form, system, meaning, and character of a curriculum', 'instruction and application of a curriculum', 'implementation and evaluation of a curriculum', 'tasks in a curriculum', 'analysis of a curriculum based on ability', 'compare and analysis curriculum and textbook'. The topic 'implementation and evaluation of a curriculum' was identified with the lowest proportion. Also, we performed the simple regression analysis with the weight of topics in the application period of the curriculum, and 'analysis of a curriculum based on ability' appeared as a 'hot topic'. Furthermore, topics appeared differently depending on the application period of the curriculum. Some of the appeared topics showed a tendency to match the emphasis of the highlight in a mathematics curriculum. Based on the results, future studies should develop frameworks for mathematics curriculum studies and extend the field of mathematical curriculum studies to make progress. Furthermore, future studies are needed to examine the enactment, feedback, and competency evaluation in the mathematical curriculum.

A Quantitative Analysis on PLoS ONE Articles Published by Authors Affiliated with Korean Institutions (PLoS ONE 학술지 게재 국내 기관 소속 연구자 논문의 계량적 분석)

  • This research provides a quantitative analysis on research articles published in PLoS ONE, a multidisciplinary open access journal, by authors affiliated with Korean institutions. Korean authors published more than 6,500 research ariticles in the mega journal between 2006 and 2019. Korea is ranked the top 11th place in terms of article publishing in the journal. Most articles by Korean authors are concentrated in the biomedical fields. In recent years, the overall production of PLoS ONE has decreased as authors migrated to competing mega journals such as Scientific Reports and BMJ Open. The change might have been affected in part by the delay in the review period and the dropping impact factor score. The open access share of the Korean PLoS ONE authors of more than 10 articles hovers around 30%. However, there is a significant variation among researchers reaching up to 50% discrepancies. Among altmetrics provided by PLoS ONE, the saves are highly correlated with the views and the citations. On the contrary, the shares show low correlation with other use metrics. A follow up, survey questionnarie based research involving researchers who have published in PLoS ONE is planned in order to investigate author motivation and experience in the review process.

Analysis of Research Trends in Home Economics Education by Language Network Analysis: Focused on the KCI Journals (2000-2019) (언어 네트워크 분석에 기반 한 가정과교육 연구 동향 분석: 2000-2019년 KCI 등재지를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the trends in home economics education research using the language network analysis method, focusing on papers published in the KCI list for 20 years from 2000 to 2019. A total of 501 home economics education papers analyzed through word cloud, centrality analysis, and topic modeling using NetMiner 4.4, and the results are as follows. First, the number of papers in home economics education published in the KCI listing increased gradually to 186 in the 2000s and 315 in the 2010s. The academic journals in which home economics education papers were published have been diversified to 16 in the 2000s and 22 in the 2010s. 60% of all papers were published in the 'Journal of Korean Home Economics Education Association', and since 2018, the number of papers published in the 'Journal of Learner-Centered Curriculum and Instruction' has increased dramatically. Second, in the 2000s and 2010s, home economics education studies published in KCI were categorized into home economics education content analysis, home economics educational program development & application, curriculum analysis, perception survey & direction exploration. In the 2000s, 'Home Economics Teacher' appeared as the main keyword, and a lot of perception survey & direction exploration were conducted. Relatively, the influence of 'development' increased in the 2010s, and many studies were conducted to analyze home economics education contents and develop and apply home economics programs. This study has significance in that it analyzed the research trend of HEE by expanding the analysis target and analysis period of the existing studies.
