The Relationships of Graphing Abilities to Logical Thinking and Science Process Skills of Middle School Students (중학생의 그래프 능력과 논리적 사고력 및 과학 탐구 능력의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of graphing abilities to logical thinking and science process skills of middle school students. The subjects for this study were selected 481 students from four middle schools for TOGS(the Test of Graphing in Science), GALT(Group Assessment of Logical Thinking) and TIPS II (Test of Integrated Process Skills). This study shows that the correlation coefficient between abilities of students to construct/interpret graphs and the logical thinking was 0.45, and the correlation coefficient between abilities to construct/interpret graphs and science process skills are 0.32. As a result, abilities of students to construct and interpret graphs arc more correlate the logical thinking than science process skills.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the problem-solving process of student's compensation con-cept.For this purpose, verbal interactions during activities were audio-taped, transcribed, and analyzed. And classroom observation and interview with students were carried out. Students who were superior in mathematical operations tended to explain compensation concept using proportionality. On the other hand, students who had low level of conservation concept can not connect 'relation of two variables' with 'conservation of equilibrium' at the formation process of com-pensation concept. Students who succeed in the formation of compensation concept showed high level of conservation concept. To promote the formation of compensation concept, it is necessary that how to develop proportional concept and conservation concept as closely related with compensation concept should be studied.

  • In this paper, we deal with some axiomatic extensions of the involutive micanorm logic IMICAL. More precisely, first, the two involutive micanorm-based logics $P_nIMICAL$ and $FP_nIMICAL$ are introduced. Their algebraic structures are then defined, and their corresponding algebraic completeness is established. Next, standard completeness is established for $FP_nIMICAL$ using construction in the style of Jenei-Montagna.

  • In this paper, we deal with standard completeness of some axiomatic extensions of the involutive mianorm logic IMIAL. More precisely, first, seven involutive mianorm-based logics are introduced. Their algebraic structures are then defined, and their corresponding algebraic completeness is established. Next, standard completeness is established for four of them using construction in the style of Jenei-Montagna.

  • Generally, a logic function has many factored forms. The problem of finding more compact factored form is one of the basic operations in logic synthesis. In this paper, we present a new method for factoring Boolean functions to assist in educational logic designs. Our method for factorization is to implement two-cube Boolean division with supports of an expression. The number of literals in a factored form is a good estimate of the complexity of a logic function. Our empirical evaluation shows the improvements in literal counts over previous other factorization methods.

  • 고전 논리의 연산이 집합의 연산과 밀접하게 관련되어 있는 것과 같이 양자논리(quantum logic)는 힐버트 공간(Hilbert space)의 닫힌부분공간(closed subspace)의 연산과 관련되어 있다. 닫힌부분공간들의 집합은 직교모듈로 격자(orthomodular lattice)를 이루고, von Neumann과 Birkhoff를 포함하여 많은 수학자들은 양자논리의 수학적 체계를 만들기 위해 직교모듈로 격자를 이용하였다. 일반 격자(lattice)에서 논리적 함의(implication)는 $x{\rightarrow}y={\neg}x{\vee}y$에 의해 일의적으로 정의되지만 직교모듈로 격자에서는 6개의 서로 다른 논리적 함의가 정의되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 직교모듈로 격자에서 정의되는 3개의 논리적 함의를 소개하고 이들 사이의 관계를 조사한다.

  • This paper investigates a new proof of standard completeness (i.e. completeness on the real unit interval [0, 1]) for the uninorm (based) logic UL introduced by Metcalfe and Montagna in [15]. More exactly, standard completeness is established for UL by using nuclear completions method introduced in [8, 9].

  • In his recent paper "Early Wittgenstein, Logic, and Metaphysics" Professor Jinho Kang argues that there has been an important change in Wittgenstein's view on the nature of logic between October 1913 and December 1916, which resulted in his change of attitude toward metaphysics. In my paper, raising some questions regarding his basic assumptions and arguments, I attempt to show that Professor Kang's paper fails to provide convincing solution to the points at issue.

  • This paper deals with Kripke-style semantics for fuzzy logics. More exactly, I introduce algebraic Kripke-style semantics for some weakening-free extensions of the uninorm based fuzzy logic UL. For this, first, I introduce several weakening-free extensions of UL, define their corresponding algebraic structures, and give algebraic completeness. Next, I introduce several algebraic Kripke-style semantics for those systems, and connect these semantics with algebraic semantics.
