  • 지구온난화룰 일으키는 온실가스중 하나인 이산화탄소를 제거하기 위하여 여러 가지 Epoxide와 이산화탄소를 Tetrabutylammonium bromide를 촉매로 하여 고압(900-1600psi), 고온($90^{\circ}C$)에서 반응시켜 고리형 카보네이트를 합성하였다. 합성된 고리형카보네트의 구조는 는 H-NMR, GC=MS, FT-IR을 이용하여 확인하였다.

Effects of Low Pressure and Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Treatment on Contact Angle of Polycarbonate Surface (저압 및 대기압 플라즈마 처리를 통한 폴리카보네이트의 접촉각 변화특성 비교)

  • The effect of plasma treatment on surface characteristics of polycarbonate (PC) films was investigated using low pressure plasma and atmospheric pressure plasma with oxygen and argon. Untreated PC has a contact angle of $82.31^{\circ}$ with de-ionized water which reduced to $9.17^{\circ}$ as the lowest value after being treated with a low pressure plasma treatment with oxygen. Increase of delivered powers such as RF and AC with a high frequency and gas flow rates was not effective to reduce contact angles dramatically but gave the trend of reducing gradually. The surface of PC treated with plasma shows a low contact angle but the contact angle increases rapidly according to the exposure time in air ambient. Oxygen plasma was more effective to generate the polar functional group regardless of the type of plasma. Conclusively, a low plasma treatment with oxygen is more recommendable when the hydrophilic surface of PC is required.

  • The hard coatings on the polycarbonate plate were performed with the object of substitution the glass in the car to the polycarbonate plate. In this research, [3-(methacryloyloxy)propyl]trimethoxysilane were used to prepare the coatings by sol-gel process. Butanol was used as a solvent, HCl was used as a catalyst, and AIBN was used as an initiator. Polycarbonate plate was pretreated with PMMA, and final heating of the coating was done at $130^{\circ}C$ for 6 h. Pencil hardness of the coating was 2 H, abrasion resistance and adhesion of the coating were excellent.

Fracture strength of tie wings in a newly-developed polycarbonate bracket (국산 폴리카보네이트 브라켓 윙의 파절 강도에 관한 연구)

  • Objective: With an increasing demand for esthetic orthodontic appliances, the interest in polycarbonate brackets has also increased. However, polycarbonate bracket wings are prone to fracture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical usefulness of a newly-developed polycarbonate bracket by measuring the fracture strength of bracket tie wings. Methods: Alice (K.M. Daicom, Seoul, Korea) and Spirit MB (Ormco, Glendora, CA, USA) brackets were used as an experimental and control bracket respectively. Each bracket group was divided into halves. One half was untreated and the other half was treated with 2,000 times of thermocycling between $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$. The fracture strength of the wing was measured by a universal testing machine. Results: Alice bracket wings showed significantly higher strength than Spirit MB bracket wings in both untreated and thermocycled bracket cases. Conclusion: Alice brackets may be used clinically in terms of the strength of bracket wings.

  • The hard coatings on the polycarbonate plate were performed with the object of substitution the glass in the car to the polycarbonate plate. In this research, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) were used to prepare the coatings by sol-gel process. The optimum conditions and formulation to get the excellent physical properties were determined. The pretreatment condition of polycarbonate plate, the mole ratio of TEOS and MTES, selection of the solvent, the aging time, the amount of acid catalyst, and the number of folds of coating were characterized. Pretreatment with poly(methyl methacrylate) was very effective to increase the adhesion strength. The smooth coating which got the 2 H class in pencil hardness was formed in this research by sol-gel process.

In this research, (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPTMS), colloidal silica (CS), and (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APS) were used to prepare the coatings by sol-gel process. The optimum conditions and formulation to get the excellent physical properties of the coating were determined. GPTMS and CS were hydrolyzed in ethanol, and then APS was added in this solution. Using these solution the hard coating were applied to the polycarbonate plate. The smooth coating which got the 2 H class in pencil hardness was formed. And this coating showed excellent abrasion resistant and adhesion property.

  • The carboxylation of the fluorenyl epoxide with a spiro framework, 9,9'-Bis(4-oxiranylmethoxyphenyl) fluorine (2) was catalyzed by some onium salts such as quaternary ammonium and phosphonium salts to produce the corresponding five-membered cyclic carbonate (3) in an efficient and environmentally benign fashion. The coupling reactions depend greatly on the kind of the halide anions and alkyl chain length of the onium salts. While the reaction was sensitive to the reaction temperature, the reaction trends suggest that the catalytic efficiency of the quaternary ammonium halides may correlate strongly with the melting points of the halides. The reactions using a catalytic amount (2 mol %) of quaternary ammonium bromide with an n-butyl chain at 75.9 bar of $CO_2$ and 393 K give the highest yield of the cyclic carbonate (92%).
