Application of Safety Analysis and Management in Software Development Process (소프트웨어 개발 프로세스에서의 안전성 분석 및 관리 활동의 적용방안)

  • As most devices in a wide range of automotive, aerospace, and missile have built-in software that controls the system behaviors, the safety of the software is growing in its importance. That is, the software safety has emerged as one of big issues because the threat of accidents caused by software malfunction is rising. Accident by software can be occurred from user mal-operation, but the fundamental reason of the accident comes from insufficient verification of the safety in software development process. Therefore, this paper presents how the software safety analysis and management activities should be done in the development process. In particular, we propose how to apply the safety analysis and management activities in the prototype or incremental development process.

Real Time Pothole Detection System based on Video Data for Automatic Maintenance of Road Surface Distress (도로의 파손 상태를 자동관리하기 위한 동영상 기반 실시간 포트홀 탐지 시스템)

  • Potholes are caused by the presence of water in the underlying soil structure, which weakens the road pavement by expansion and contraction of water at freezing and thawing temperatures. Recently, automatic pothole detection systems have been studied, such as vibration-based methods and laser scanning methods. However, the vibration-based methods have low detection accuracy and limited detection area. Moreover, the costs for laser scanning-based methods are significantly high. Thus, in this paper, we propose a new pothole detection system using a commercial black-box camera. Normally, the computing power of a commercial black-box camera is limited. Thus, the pothole detection algorithm should be designed to work with the embedded computing environment of a black-box camera. The designed pothole detection algorithm has been tested by implementing in a black-box camera. The experimental results are analyzed with specific evaluation metrics, such as sensitivity and precision. Our studies confirm that the proposed pothole detection system can be utilized to gather pothole information in real-time.

  • The widespread use of smart home appliances with smart home networking is leading to a next generation of a new technology that exploit user contextual information to provide a richer experience. However, in the most part of home networking systems the intelligent personalization services between user and home appliances have not been adequately supplied in respect of the long lifespan of the legacy home appliances. In addition, without installing smart home appliances when constructing new building the users can not use this service. To use this service, the legacy home appliance need to attach enabler equipped with the various sensors just as it is smart home appliances. The goal is to create a service that enables appliances to exchange information and control their actions through the IoT gateway to achieve nonintrusive behavior and customized services without human intervention. In this paper, we propose a ontology model to represent the user context to be able to induce right service automatically and use it to discover, utilize and enhance different services in real time that the user may be interested in.

  • The poor working conditions of transit drivers not only lead to mental stress and fatigue accumulation of workers, but also to the main causes of mass transit accidents. Stress and fatigue accumulation are closely related to the vital signs because they affect the psychological and physical health. In this paper, we designed a digital garment which can measure driver's health condition by measuring electrocardiogram, pulse rate and body temperature. Also proposed a system that transmits the measured bio-signal to the smartphone app via Bluetooth and transmits the current position of the driver to the server by using the built-in GPS of the smartphone, assuming there is something wrong.

Measuring ultrasonic TOF using Zynq baremetal Multiprocessing (Zynq 기반 baremetal 멀티프로세싱에 의한 초음파 TOF 측정)

  • In this research the TOF (time of flight) of ultrasonic signal is measured using Xilinx's Zynq SoC (system on chip). The TOF is calculated from the difference between periods during which RF (radio frequency) and ultrasonic signals come across a distance, and then travelling distance is obtained by multiplying the TOF by the ultrasonic speed in the air. For this purpose, a ultrasonic pulse is generated from a Zynq's internal ADC, a FIR (finite impulse response) filter, and a Kalman filter. And a RF reference pulse is generated from a RF interface. Based on baremetal multiprocessing, the Kalman filter and the RF interface are c-programmed on Zynq's dual processor cores, with other components fabricated on Zynq's FPGA. With this HW/SW co-design, both lower resource utilization and much smaller designing period were obtained than the HW design. As a design tool, Vivado IDE(integrated design environment) is used to design the whole signal processing system in hierarchical block diagrams.

  • This paper proposed a smart-phone based user movement state identification algorithm. Then movement state of the user is identified by calculating the location and moving speed using the GPS sensor, and detailed movement methods are identified by analyzing the data from the Orientation sensor. In this study, two sensors of the smart-phone were used to implement the user movement status identification algorithm and to perform tests. The reference values of the speed and orientation required for the identification of the movement type were defined based on the experimental data. The results of this study showed that the movement type of a smart-phone user can be identified using the user movement state identification algorithm.

Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Induction Motors using LPC and DTW Methods (LPC와 DTW 기법을 이용한 유도전동기의 고장검출 및 진단)

  • This paper proposes an efficient two-stage fault prediction algorithm for fault detection and diagnosis of induction motors. In the first phase, we use a linear predictive coding (LPC) method to extract fault patterns. In the second phase, we use a dynamic time warping (DTW) method to match fault patterns. Experiment results using eight vibration data, which were collected from an induction motor of normal fault states with sampling frequency of 8 kHz and sampling time of 2.2 second, showed that our proposed fault prediction algorithm provides about 45% better accuracy than a conventional fault diagnosis algorithm. In addition, we implemented and tested the proposed fault prediction algorithm on a testbed system including TI's TMS320F2812 DSP that we developed.

Internal Antenna Design for GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900 Using an Overlap of Return Loss (반사 손실 합성법을 이용한 GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900 내장형 안테나 설계)

  • This paper proposes the design scheme of internal triple band antenna intended for using in GSM900, DCS1800, and PCS1900 bands. The suggested folding metal plates of the two branches are mounted on a dielectric coated ground plane for size miniaturization and durability. Return losses are overlapped when length of metal branches are controlled. This is important technique for wide band operation. For the suggested antenna geometry its return loss was calculated by HFSS 9 simulator, and was shown to be -10 [dB] less within the required band. Also, gain and radiation pattern of antenna were measured using far field measurement system in an anechoic chamber. The measured peak gain is more than 3.0 [dBi], and the average gain is over -1.0 [dBi] for the triple band, which is regarded as satisfactory for the internal antenna application. Also, the radiation pattern for two frequencies shows a similar shape each other within the required band.

Implementation of Social Network Application for Civil Service based on Android (안드로이드 기반의 민원 서비스를 위한 소셜 네트워크 애플리케이션의 구현)

  • As for civil service support, the interaction between citizens as well as the government and citizens has an important value, and the participation between citizens be very important. The interaction between these citizens can lead to spreading the use of the app by getting them to share their status information with an specified number of people in the public service such as a social network service. Mobile-based social network service has various built-in sensors to increase the interaction between the government and citizens and post the status information of users on SNS. In this regard, this paper proposed a social network application for civil services based on the Android by using location-based context information. Experimental results showed that since the application proposed in this paper can be applied to low-performance system and exhibits high performance, it can allow users located at a short distance to detect new information and share contents by adding the content to SNS which is the closest to the location of users.
