The Regional Folk Plants in Inland of Gyeongsangbuk-do (I) (경상북도 내륙지역의 민속식물 I)

  • This study was carried out to classify the regional folk plants in the inland of Gyeongsangbuk-do. According to the survey results from 582 survey sheets of 126 residents at 85 places of 17 counties and cities from March to October, 2009, the folk plants in the inland of Gyeongsangbuk-do consisted of a total 254 taxa; 76 families, 207 genera, 225 species, 2 subspecies, 26 varieties, and 1 form. The use by its usage was: 216 taxa; edible, 82 taxa; medicinal, 30 taxa; dye, 3 taxa; aroma, 4 taxa; spice, 4 taxa; ornamental, 1 taxa; fiber, 2 taxa; oil, 1 taxa; starch, 5 taxa; fuel, 9 taxa; others, respectively, so the edible use is the highest. The most useful part was the leaf, followed by stem and root. The folk plants of 3 head families from Yeongyang and Cheongsong were 42 taxa. The consistency comparison between the scientific name and the local name were the highest in the 50's and the lowest in 80's.

Traditional Knowledge on the Regional Folk Plants in Inland of Chungcheongnam-do Province, Korea (충남 내륙지역 민속식물의 전통지식)

  • To survey and collect the traditional knowledge on the regional folk plants, we interviewed 125 (male 37, female 88) native inhabitants in inland, 12 cities and counties of Chungnam province from March to October, 2011. The results showed that the regional folk plants in inland of Chungnam province consisted of a total 273 taxa; 92 families, 225 genera, 237 species, 4 subspecies, 29 varieties and 3 forms. Of 273 taxa surveyed ; 5 Korean endemic plants, 8 rare plants and 16 naturalized plants were also included. And of 273 taxa, cultivated plants were 82 taxa and 191 taxa were wild plants. The analysis of use by usage for 273 taxa showed that the edible use was the highest with 981 times, followed by medicinal with 439 times, material with 179 times, oil with 68 times, respectively. The leaf of plant was the most useful part, followed by stem and fruit. The consistency comparison between the Korean name and the local name were the highest in 50's and the lowest in 90's.

The Regional Folk Plants in Southern Inland Area of Gyeonggi-do (경기남부 내륙지역의 민속식물자원)

  • This study was carried out to clarify the regional folk plants in the southern inland area of Gyeonggi-do Province. According to the survey results, derived from 1,229 sheets of 90 residents at 35 places from 9 counties and cities between October 2009 and December 2010, the folk plants in the inland southern area of Gyeonggi-do consisted of a total of 259 taxa; 82 families, 200 genera, 221 species, 4 subspecies, 32 varieties, and 2 forma. The classification of the plants by its usage was; 214 as edible, 119 as medicinal, 34 as ornamental, 18 as timber, 12 as dye, 5 as oil, 3 as spice, 2 as fiber, 2 as aroma, and 22 as others uses. So, the edible and medicinal uses are higher than other uses. The most useful part was the leaf, followed by fruit, stem, root, and flower. The collection season was focused on spring and summer, because the leaf was mainly collected in an edible condition during those seasons. Traditional knowledge of folk plants was mostly passed down orally. The consistency comparison between the standard common name and the local name was the highest in the people in 50s and the lowest in those in 80s.

  • This study aimed to provide a fundamental basis for the development and promotion of a Korea windchill temperature index model in the field of human biometeorology. For this, a sensitivity model currently being used by KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration) was analyzed. The results of the analysis showed that the Korean peninsula could be divided into the urban area, the coastal/island area, the inland area, and the mountain area. The average temperature was highest in the coastal/island area, while it was lowest in the mountain regions. The lowest temperature in the urban and coastal/island areas was 20 degrees below zero and that in the inland and mountain regions were 30 degrees below zero. As for wind speed, both average and maximum wind speed were highest in the coastal/island area. The distribution of temperature and wind speed in winter was similar to that of the entire period. The results of the JAG/Tl and Missenard model sensitivity showed that temperature tends to have more influence on sensitivity than any other factors. In sub-zero temperature, however, the influence of wind speed tends to increase.

Characterization of the Variability of Summer Extreme Precipitation According to the Local Features (지역특성에 따른 여름철 극한강수 변화특성 분석)

  • Characterization the regional impact of the variability of summer extreme precipitation and the rain days over several thresholds (i.e. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 mm/day) in South Korea was performed using daily precipitation data of 59 weather stations operated by Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA). To consider the local features of weather stations, we characterized the variability according to the difference of elevations, latitudes, longitudes, river basins, inland or shore area, and the ratio of urbanization. The results showed that the summer extreme precipitation is sensible to the geographical effect which is similar to that of the annual precipitation. Rain days over thresholds have increased during 1973-2009 while the annual rain days have decreased. This indicate that the concentration of precipitation in summer season will be intensified in the future. Increase of summer precipitation amount and number of extreme rain days is higher in inland area, urbanized area, and Han-River basin than that of shore area, unurbanized area, and the other river basins respectively.

제주도 동부지역 수문지질에 관한 연구(I)

  • 제주도 동부지역 구좌읍 한동리-송당리를 연결하는 직선상의 4개 지점에서 착정한 심부관측정에 대한 시추코어 지질검층과 심도별 수온ㆍ전기전도도 검층 결과, 제주도를 형성시킨 화산활동과 관련된 화산분출물(용암류 및 쇄설물)은 해수면하 136~170m 범위까지만 분포하고 있고, 그 하부에는 미교결의 U층(U Formation)이 분포하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 구좌읍 한동리에 소재한 둔지봉(해발 280m)을 경계로 해안지역의 U층 상부에는 용암이 바다속으로 흘러갈 때 생겨나는 베개용암(Pillow Lava)이 분포하고 있음이 최초로 확인되었으며, 이 베개용암층을 통해 고염분지하수가 내륙쪽으로 확산되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 담수지하수체 하부에 존재하는 고염분 지하수체는 해안에서 내륙쪽으로 오면서 점진적으로 감소하고 기저지하수체(담ㆍ염수 혼합대를 형성하는 지하수체)는 해안으로부터 약 6~6km(해발 120~130m)지역까지 분포하고 있으며, 담수지하수 렌즈체의 두께는 이론적인 G-H비 보다 훨씬 얇은 것으로 나타났다.

  • The ants found in Chindo Island were investigated from July to October, 1994. We were interested in the ant fauna of this island because it is one of larger islands of Korea and being well supplied with subterranean water, quite different for mother islands in this respect. Collections were examined from 11 sites of Chindo Is. , of which 21 species of 15 genera under 4 subfamilies are classified and reported.

An Analysis on Development of Shipping and Inland Networks of Gwangyang Container Port (광양항 해운과 내륙 네트워크 발달에 대한 고찰)

  • Since ports play a role of gateway to the sea and hinterlands, it is essential to analyse the networks of shipping and inland when evaluating the function and development of a port. The container port of Gwangyang, starting to operate its facilities in 1998, has developed itself as a hub port. Using the data of shipping schedules of Korean ports and the measurement of centrality in sociology, this study analyses the process of world-wide shipping network expansion in Gwangyang and concludes some implications including earlier development of shipping networks due to incentives to shipping companies. Although Gwangyang port also has been expanding its inland network through developing trucking, railway transport, and coastal shipping, it has weakness in inland network as in the cases of interruption in 2004, resumption in 2009 and re-interruption in 2012 at coastal shipping. In 2000s the expansion of shipping and inland networks at the newly built container ports such as Pyungtaek, Ulsan, and Gunsan has enticed the competition among Korean ports at each hinterland. Nevertheless, the operation of Gwangyang container port is considered to affect indirectly the relocation of some manufacturers including Samsung Electronics. Studies on interrelation between development of container port and geographical demography of manufacturers are needed to assess the effects of container port on regional economy.

A Study on the Characteristics of Spatial Aquifer Distribution and Groundwater Flow at the Ulsan Metropolitan City (울산도시지역의 대수층 분포특성과 지하수 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • 울산지역의 대수층 분포특성과 지하수 유동특성에 관해 연구하기 위해 크리깅 기법을 이용하였다. 울산지역의 시추자료 1,783개 지점과 지하수위자료 총 1,171개 지점에 대하여 2년간(2002년~2003) 자료를 획득하여 분석하였다. 본 연구지역의 표고 충적층 하부경계 심도, 충적층, 하부경계 심도, 충적층 층후, 풍화대 층후, 충적층-풍화대 층후, 대수층 단면, 지하수위 그리고 지하수유동 분석을 하기 위해 베리오그램 분석한 결과 풍화대 하부경계 심도에 지수형모델(exponential model), 나머지 지하수위를 포함한 성분들은 모두 구상형모델(shperical model)이 가장 적합하게 나타났다. 울산지역 대수층의 경우 산악지역은 얕은 충적층과 풍화대 분포가 나타나는 반면, 남구는 충적층, 북구는 풍화대 발달이 우세하게 나타났다. 그리고 울산지역의 충적층과 풍화대 층후 분포특성이 울산단층을 따라 층후가 두껍게 나타났다. 지하수 유동은 고지형의 북구와 동구 산악지역에서 바다에 인접한 내륙지역으로 지하수 유동특성을 보였으며, 울산의 4개구는 산악지역, 태화강, 동천강, 울산단층 그리고 충적층과 풍화대가 잘 발달된 대수층을 따라 지하수유동 특성이 잘 나타났다.

A Study on the Factor and Influences of Decision Making for the Inland Trnsportation of Shippers (화주의 내륙운송 의사결정요인과 영향에 대한 연구)

  • In order to identify the factor and effect of shippers' inland transportation decision in North China and the Republic of Korea, the determinants of shipping liners, shippers and forwarders when selecting ports were extracted through previous studies and then analyzed using factor analysis and Fuzzy-AHP. As a result of analyzing the importance between groups, it can be found that while logistics costs at port and accessibility to hinterland are the most important factors for shipping liners, shippers and forwarders. Transportation cost by feeder is the most important sub factors for shipping liners. Inland transportation cost is the most important sub factors for shippers and forwarders. Through this study, it was recognized that one of the biggest concerns of shippers was reduction of inland transportation cost In addition, it was confirmed that the main factor of shifting the decision of the port selection from the shipping liners to the shipper is the reduction of inland transportation cost.
