This study investigated the biological activities and effects of Korean Zingiber mioga R. (flower buds and rhizome) on memory. The general composition, minerals, anti-oxidative activities, and AChE inhibitory effects were analyzed, and NORT (Novel object recognition test) and Y-Maze test in vivo were performed. The general contents (moisture, crude fat, crude protein, and crude ash; wet basis) of ZB (flower buds) were 91.96%, 0.15%, 1.99%, and 11.90%, respectively. The general contents (moisture, crude fat, crude protein, and crude ash; wet basis) of ZR (rhizome) were 75.21%, 0.53%, 2.20%, and 9.50%, respectively. The macro mineral contents (Ca, P, Na, and K) of ZB were 31.70 mg%, 15.20 mg%, 8.20 mg%, and 258.60 mg%, respectively. Inhibitory effects (IC50 value) of DPPH and ABTS radicals were higher with ZBD (flower buds water extract) than with ZBE (flower buds EtOH extract), ZRD (rhizome water extract) or ZRE (rhizome EtOH extract). AChE inhibitory effect of ZBD was higher and that of ZRD. NORT and Y-Maze test were performed with scopolamine-induced mice treated with ZBD and ZBE. In NORT, effects of ZBD and ZBE were similar to that of donepezil. In the Y-maze test, performances of ZBD and ZBE-treated mice were similar to that of the normal group. These results suggest that Korean Zingiber mioga R. has potential to be developed into a new functional food for cognition enhancement in the global food market.
In the learned machine learning, the performance of machine learning degrades at the same time as drift occurs in terms of learning models and learning data over time. As a solution to this problem, I would like to propose the concept and evaluation method of ML drift to determine the re-learning period of machine learning. An XAI test and an XAI test of an apple image were performed according to strawberry and clarity. In the case of strawberries, the change in the XAI analysis of ML models according to the clarity value was insignificant, and in the case of XAI of apple image, apples normally classified objects and heat map areas, but in the case of apple flowers and buds, the results were insignificant compared to strawberries and apples. This is expected to be caused by the lack of learning images of apple flowers and buds, and more apple flowers and buds will be studied and tested in the future.

Seasonal prevalence of bacterial canker of kiwifruit caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa) was investigated at a naturally infected orchard in Boseong, Jeonnam in 2014 and 2015. Stem canker began to occur in mid-February in 2014 and early March in 2015. Bacterial ooze was observed on canes, leaders and trunks until late May and gradually disappeared thereafter. The percentages of infected trees were 44.7% and 69.7% in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Trees with trunk canker in a previous year died in 2015. Leaf canker symptoms began to appear as brown spots with chlorotic halos in early May and irregular dark brown spots without halos were observed under humid conditions. Leaf canker progressed until mid-July in 2014 and late July in 2015. No Psa was detected from the leaf lesions on leaves thereafter, but new infection of Psa was observed on leaves in late October. Infected blossoms with blighted calyx were sometimes observed from mid-May. Optimal monitoring period to detect Psa was May when it could be easily detected from stems, leaves and blossoms. Disease cycle of bacterial canker of kiwifruit modified for Korea was proposed based on the seasonal prevalence of bacterial canker analyzed according to weather data in Boseong, Jeonnam over 2 years.
Callus induction and embryogenesis were studied in three different genotypes of Acanthopanax senticosus, to develop a protocol for somatic embryogenesis and acclimatization. Young leaf, stem, node, petiole, peduncle, flower and root explants were collected from 3-year old trees of A. senticosus accessions (Korea, Russia and Japan). Callus was obtained from all cultured explants but showed the higher rate of callus formation in flower cultured. For the three A. senticosus accessions, callus was well formd on MS media containing 2mg/ l of 2,4-D and 2mg/ l of TDZ, 4mg/ l of 2,4-D and 1mg/ l of TDZ than other treatments. For three A. senticosus accessions, when callus transferred to MS medium with 2,4-D, embryogenic cell formed. For A. senticosus accessions Korea, embryogenic cells were obtained on callus induced from petiole, stem, node and root explants, and induction rate was lower than 3%. 200mg of embryogenic callus was transferred to MS free liquid medium and somatic embryos of heart stage were obtained after 45days of culture. When somatic embryo of germination stage were transferred to solid medium, most of the embryos were regenerated into plantlets on 1/4 MS medium. Normal plants with both shoots and roots were transferred to greenhouse soil and were successfully acclimatized.
This research was performed to investigate the possibilities of industrial usage of camellia (Camellia japonica L.) by examining the antioxidant and antimicrobial effects of methanol extract with different sections. Content of total phenolics, DPPH radical scavenging activities and antibacterial activity of young leaf, mature leaf, flower bud, flower, bark, and seed of camellia were compared in vitro experimental models. Total phenolics was contained the higher in young leaf (74.62 mg), flower bud (65.02 mg) and flower (62.42 mg) but less than 20.95 mg per 100 g of dry weight in other parts of Camellia japonica L. And effects of antioxidant measured by DPPH radical scavenger activity ($RC_{50}$, reduce concentration 50%), was shown higher $7.16{\sim}18.14\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ in methanol extract of young leaf, flower bud and flower than $61.23\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ of BHT as a chemical oxidant. Also, the antimicrobial activity of Camellia japonica L. extracts determined using a paper disc method against food-borne pathogen and food spoilage bacteria, the young leaves extracts showed the most active antimicrobial activity against 7 kinds of harmful microorganisms. Flower bud extracts showed the highest antibacterial activity against P. aeruginosa and Enterobacter spp. C1036. In addition, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of young leaf extract against B. subtillis,S. fradiae,S. aureus,E. coli,P. aeruginosa, Enterobacter spp. C1036, and S. typhimurium were revealed 1 to 15 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$. As a result, antimicrobial activity of camellia extracts was shown higher gram positive bacteria than gram negative bacteria.
BACKGROUND: The buds of persimmon trees are susceptible to cold damage, often with the late frost, at the time of budburst. This study was conducted to determine effect of the cold damage on shoot and fruit growth the current season. METHODS AND RESULTS: 'Fuyu' trees, grown in 50-L pots, were placed for 1 h at $-2.2{\pm}0.5$, $-2.6{\pm}0.5$, or $-3.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ within a cold storage, at their budburst on April 5. Some trees under ambient temperature at $10-17^{\circ}C$ served as the control. Cold damage of the buds containing flower buds was 54% at $-2.2^{\circ}C$, and significantly increased to 95% at $-3.0^{\circ}C$. The bud damage included the complete death of all, complete death of main buds only, or the late and deformed shoot growth in the spring. Number of flower buds in early May dramatically decreased as the damage ratio increased. Since the thinning of flower buds in mid-May and fruitlets in early July was done in no or slightly damaged trees, the final number of fruits and yield did not decrease compared with the control when the damage increased by 60% and 70%, respectively. Average fruit weight and skin coloration tended to be better with increasing bud damage. Shoot growth was more vigorous in those trees whose buds were severely damaged by low temperature. CONCLUSION(S): Shoot growth and the yield may depend on the number of flower buds and percent fruit set after the cold damage.

Brassica napus, an oil crop that produces rapeseed oil, is an allotetraploid (AACC, 2n = 38) produced by natural hybridization between B. rapa and B. oleracea. In this study, microspore was cultured using the F1 developed from a cross between 'EMS26' line with high oleic acid content and 'J8634-B-30' lines. The flower bud size showing the nuclear development at the late uninucleate and binucleate stage with high embryogenesis rate was 2.6 ~ 3.5 mm. Microspores were cultured using only this size and after then most microspore embryo developed into secondary embryos and then regeneration plants obtained from the developed multilobe. The analysis of the ploidy of the plants revealed that 66.7% and 27.8% of the total lines were tetraploids and octoploids, respectively. The sizes of stomatal cells in tetraploids, octoploids, and diploids were 25.5, 35.6, and 19.9 ㎛, respectively, indicating that ploidy level was positively correlated with cell size. Furthermore, 62 tetraploid doubled haploid (DH) lines were selected. The average oleic acid (C18:1) and linolenic acid (C18:3) concentrations of DH were 72.3% and 6.2%, respectively. Oleic acid and linolenic acid concentrations exceeded the two parental values in 5 and 14 DH lines, respectively, suggesting that these two fatty acids had transgressive segregation. Therefore, the DH population can be utilized for the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids in rapeseed and related genes. It can also be used as a breeding material for varieties with high oleic acid concentrations.

For the establishment of an efficient embryogenesis from microspore culture in Brassica napus L. domestic cultivar 'Tammiyuchae', four different factors affecting microspore embryogenesis and plantlet regeneration were investigated. The highest embryogenesis rate was achieved when microspores at late uninucleate to early binucleate stage were isolated from flower buds with a length of 3.0~3.5 mm. On average, 388 embryos generated from 1 ml of microspores media. The highest number of embryos was obtained when microspores were subjected to $32.5^{\circ}C$ for 2 days. Embryogenesis of 'Tammiyuchae' was increased with increasing microspore culture density up to about $5{\times}10^4ea/mL$. Gradually higher culture density repressed embryogenesis of microspores. Regeneration rate of shoots from microspore-derived embryos was observed in MS solid medium supplemented with $0.5mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA and $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ BA, and grew well in MS solid medium without plant growth regulators.
This study was carried out with the purpose of looking into the transcriptionally regulated genes related to the anther development, characterizing them, and applying their promoters to induce male-sterile plants and restore their fertility. Fifteen anther-specific clones were isolated from the anther cDNA library of Chinese cabbage through the differential screening and sequenced partially at both ends. These partial sequence data showed that cDNA clones BAN52, 84, 101, and 229 are very similar to polygalacturonase, ascorbate oxidase, $H^+-translocating$ ATPase, and pectin esterase genes respectively. However, the other clones have not been matched to any of gene sequences in data bank. In northern dot blot analysis, the transcripts of cDNA clone BAN5, 10, 33, 52, 57, 102, 103, 215, 229 appeared in the flower bud of 2.1 mm in length and their amounts were gradually increased along with the anther development. Transcription of cDNA clone BAN32, 54, 62, 84, 101 began in flower bud of 3.9 mm, which is the late stage in anther development. However, the transcription of BAN87 was very small, but its transcript was detected in all anther developmental stages.
