To establish the mass proliferation system of Ardisia pusilla DC, the shoot tips of Ardisia pusilla DC were cultured on the MS and half-strength MS medium supplemented with $0{\sim}5.0$ mg/L BA or $0{\sim}0.5$ mg/L thidiazuron(TDZ), respectively. A few multiple shoot formation observed when the shoots were cultured on MS medium containing TDZ. However, the frequency of multiple shoot formation was reached up to 82.4%, when the shoots were cultured on half-strength MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L BA. Also the number of shoot per explant was 7.1. To promote rooting from multiple shoot, newly formed shoots were transferred to half-strength MS medium containing 0.5 mg/L IBA or 0.5 mg/L NAA, respectively. Regenerated plantlets were grown to normal mature plants in soil.

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis(JRA) is the most common major connective tissue disease in children. Renal involvement in JRA is rare. Among the renal lesions that have been reported in JRA, amyloidosis and drug-induced nephropathy are the most common. Crescentic glomerulonephritis in JRA has rarely been reported. We report a case of ANCA-associated pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis in JRA. The patient was a 15-year old boy with a 3-year history of JRA. He presented with gross hematuria, proteinuria, positive p-ANCA and elevation of BUN and creatinine. Pathologic findings revealed focal necrotizing and crescentic glomerulonephritis. There were no significant immunoglobulin or complement deposits. His renal function recovered after intravenous methylprednisolone pulse therapy and oral steroid use. In Korea, this is the first reported case of pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis in JRA. (J Korean Soc Pediatr Nephrol 2005;9:231-236)

This study is focused on examining the use of information and communication technology among the factors that contribute to the psychological stability of the aged. To identify the appreciation and experience of information and communication technology, we have itemized mobile technology and internet technology which are the most broadly utilized technologies by the elderly, and suggested a methodology to measure the effects that information and communication technology have on their psychological stability. We surveyed more than 100 people over 55 year old in Seoul. The findings of the study showed that the group of users who use wired internet and mobile technology are less depressed and have more self-esteem than the group of non-users. It was also shown that the more skilled they are at utilizing the technology, the less feelings of depression and loneliness, and the more self-esteem they have.

Service discovery protocols is software components to find specific services or resources on network. The SLP defined by IETF protocol is a framework for automatic service discovery on IP based networks. Automatic service discovery is an important component on ubiquitous computing environment. This paper proposes a service discovery architecture named as SLPA(Service Location Protocol based on AMAAM). AMAAM(Mobility Agent Advertisement Mechanism) is an aggregation-based Mobile IP implementation in MANET. In SLPA, the role of the directory agent is assigned to the mobility agent in AMAAM. The mobility agent periodically beacons an advertisement message which contains both the advertisement of the directory agent in SLP and the advertisement of the mobility agent in Mobile IP. For evaluating the functional correctness of SLPA and the overhead of maintaining a service directory of SLPA. We simulate SLPA using ns-2 and analyze the overhead of control overheads for the aggregation. Through the simulation experiments we show the functional correctness of the proposed architecture and analyze the performance results.

Clip-type pulsimeter equipped with Hall device and a minute permanent magnet as sensing the minute movement of a radial artery was developed. The clinical data of the 120 number of subject acquisited through the clip-type pulsimeter did treated with a typical statistical logistic regression analysis. The prediction algorithm for the replete pulse and vacuous pulse was studied. The reflective peak time and the notch peak time were major parameters to discern the replete pulse and vacuous pulse. The discrimination rate was 65%. It suggests that the logistic regression equations are possible to use the diagnosis index to predict and discern the oriental pulse wave.

The salt stress at seedling stage of winter barley was examined in different concentrations of NaCl containing 1/2 Hoagland solution. Fresh weight of seedling at 30 days after seeding was highest at 25mM of NaCl concentration containing 1/2 Hoagland solution but if the NaCl concentration was more than 50mM it began to decrease seriously. Water content in plant was decreased according to increase of NaCl concentration in 1/2 Hoagland solution, so physiological mechanism of NaCl in barley was different from saline plant. Stoma number per cm$^2$ of first leaf was higher than that of control in case of stressed by NaCl but in that case the leaf length was decreased so the number of stoma per first leaf was slightly decreased. Chloroplast shape was not changed by 75mM of high NaCl contained 1/2 Hoagland solution but cell division at root growing point was inhibited by 75mM of NaCl. As the result of salt stress mitochondria was ruined in structure and irregular solid was found to be transfered from the cytoplasm to the cell wall in root growing point.

Advanced countries, animal wastes are produced using bioenergy and methane gas technology. In Korea, many researches are being actively carried out to develop livestock manure as a resource technology rather than a animal waste. However, the production of bio-gas using livestock manure is still in the process of development of functional livestock and compost because of low economic efficiency with livestock manure recycling technology. In this paper, in order to accurately estimate the manure output, It will calculate the manure excretion if you have finished input the number of pigs. In addition, we simulated the fertilization rate of three elements of NPK fertilizer per 100 square meters automatically.

At present, RFID system is highly welcomed as a substitute system with its bar code recognition system and self recognition equipment. Consequently, the system has multi applications and can be complementing to its security. In particular, RFID system is significantly related with electronic transaction equipments : transportation card, ID card in check point, attendance sheet. Based upon these characteristic, the system is becoming extremely popular in the field of logistics, harbor and stock management, animal control and product circulation & distribution. In this dissertation, I would like to present a more efficient and stable remote entry control system with the network-based TCP/IP. It is a simple example of ubiquitous computing function. Above all, approved protocol system should be applied to the remote entry control function. Its efficient function with the applied approval protocol based-remote entry control system should be confirmed. Therefore, a preliminary test should be prerequisite in automatic entrance function with the embedded and TCP/IP-based RFID system.

This study examines links between Korean adolescents' uses of games and their school lives. A gender-based analysis was conducted and moderating effects of social relationship variables were tested. The major findings are as follows. First, some gender differences were found in impacts of game use. For example, although a game addiction variable appeared to influence both male and female adolescents negatively on the school-related conscientiousness, only male students displayed a negative impact of game time. It represents a gender difference in the preferred game genres and ways of using them. Second, the analysis showed that variables of social relationship could moderate the negative effects of game use. While the relationship with father appeared to moderate the negative effects of game time in male adolescents, the relationship with mother turned out to relieve the negative impacts of game addiction in female ones. In the case of male adolescents, however, the relationship with the parents did not show any moderating effect on game addiction. This study supports the claim that it is necessary to take a gendered approach in studying gaming.

This study examines the impact of sleep duration on Korean adolescents' suicidal impulse. A gender-based analysis was conducted using binary logistic regression method. The major findings are as follows. First, weekday sleep duration had a significant effect only on male adolescents. Male adolescents who sleep less than seven hours on a weekday are likely to experience suicidal impulse by 1.9 times higher than the others. This effect remained significant even when other relevant variables were controlled. On the other hand, female adolescents who have less than seven hours of sleep on a weekday have about 1.3 times higher chances to experience suicidal impulse. However, this effect became insignificant when other variables such as stress were controlled. Meanwhile, weekend sleep duration did not have any significant effect on both male and female adolescents. By demonstrating the different effects between weekday/weekend sleep duration and male/female adolescents, this study supports the claim that it is necessary to take a social approach in studying sleep duration.
