  • Semiotic studies in mathematical education have been based on Saussure, Peirce, and Frege and many prior researches have explored the concepts in a perspective of semiotics. However, the relationship among semiotical elements and the formation and the evolution of a conception are still ambiguous and veiled in many aspects. This thesis is intended to show how a conception was formed and evolved by expression, which is an element of semiotics. In this process, I sought to partially illuminate the relationship among expressions, concepts, and objects.

  • The semiotic approach to the mathematics education has been studied in last 20 years by PME, ICME conferences. New cultural developments in multi-media, digital documents and digital arts and cultures may influence mathematical education and teaching and learning activities. Hence semiotical interest in the mathematics education research and practice will be increasing. In this paper the basic ideas of semiotics, such as Peirce triad and Saussure's dyad, are introduced with some mathematical applications. There is some similarities between traditional research topics for concept, representation and social construction in mathematics education research and semiotic approach topics for the same subjects. some semiotic applications for an arithmetic problem for work, induction, deduction and abduction syllogisms with respect to Peirce's triad, its meaning in scientific discoveries and learning in geometry and symmetry.

  • In this paper, study on organization factors and algorithm of semiotics in Animation text within Roland Gerard Barthes's Structurism semiotics theory. It is possible through this approach that we can analyse the effective mechanism which delivers messages(or text) of animation, instead of plain analysis of classical semiotics. and then It will be able to keep watch on the blind viewpoint of the pure aesthetics which does not consider a social duty. In the expression of single sentence by the view of Barthes's semiotics theory, the text of animation is 'one sign has duplex role'. when it is explained another, the animation of mass media is special processing that makes conception and significance. in other words, the order of domination likely natural rule assimilate mass people to itself by the animation of mass media

  • It is more urgent that the humanities have the capacity to cope with the many challenges that the humanities need to ask, seek and solve. At this point, I think that virtue that humanities should have is communication. As humanities are the study of human beings, if all the world that human beings perceive and experience is the subject of humanities, it is also the subject of semiotics, so that as our life changes, semiology also changes, Semiotics can be done with the closest friend created by humans, at that time providing the tools. I believe there is a reason why humanities in this age should speak semantics. We believe that this new semioticism can give a fresh impression to us who thought that the method and nature of truth pursued in natural science and humanities are totally different, and this is also a very experimental field and I believe that this area of future semiotics will be developed in the future. As such, semiotics is a discipline that shows reasons beyond boundaries, so the area it can deal with is also infinite. In Chapter 2 of this article, we first discuss what semiotics is as a meta-scholar. In Chapter 3, symbol and communication, and Chapter 4, in structural code, And metonymy.

  • This study describes the semantic theoretic interpretation through the extensive use of semantic metaphors for intensive web interface with information and the metaphoric value of metaphors for interface design. Common factors that influence web design are empirical establishment and verification for generating web symbols and these are have important elemental perspectives that are used to assess the usefulness and key elements of the site. In addition, the structure of the screen has begun to change dynamically from the application of web technological functions, and the media functions have become important to make web standards when implementing visual structuring from the perspective of semiotic. Instead of using a technical expression approach to examine semiotic, a semiotic approach is applied to create aesthetic codes through the human-computer interface in terms of semiotic in a variety of natural and universal fields. Based on this, it is used as means of communication to convey the intended meaning to users so as to highlight the importance of the usability issues and metaphors user interface.

  • Semiotic theory plays a vital role in the cognition of realistic films. Realistic films aim to reflect events and situations in real life, and arouse the audience's thinking about real problems through realistic depiction. In this process, the theory of semiotics helps to reveal the symbolic elements in the film and the profound meaning behind them. This study focused on the realism movie 도 가 니 "(Silenced), on the basis of the theory of saussure's semiotics, combined with its proposed the concept of "signifier" and "mean", through the study of arbitrariness and secondary film symbol sign system, designed to dig deeper into the symbolic meanings in the movie, and their cultural significance and social evaluation. By analyzing the implied narrative structure, meaning structure and ideology in the film, this paper probes into the influence and effect of mass culture on society and reveals the potential information conveyed by symbols in the film. This study aims to provide creative insights and explanations to provide useful references for research in related fields.

  • This research is to investigate the way to combine Peirce's typology of signs with architectural design. A new diagram is suggested to ensure the continuity of Peirce's typology, by rearranging and reconstructing the well known inverted triangle diagram showing the structure of the typology. The new diagram is easier to understand the organization of the typology, by showing the linkages between sign types and their relationships with other types. A way to adapt the new diagram to architectural design for the purpose of representing typology as well as ensuring model growth as semiotic model for architectural design model. The new model is organized of three sign clusters, sinsign cluster, legisign cluster, and symbolic cluster. They are interrelated through successive inclusion and case inclustion. The new model is organized of threefold layers. The first layer is internal structure of each cluster. The second is interrelation between cluster. The third is mediation of symbolic cluster between sinsign cluster and legisign cluster. This paper investigate and demonstrate the possibility of adaptation of the new model in architectural design. It has been argued that the theoretical basis of sign typology is adaptable to architectural design by principle. More future research issues are discussed.

  • Comics are a genre that convey meaning through compositional arrangements of dialogue and images as well as through the flow of panels across a page. Communicating that meaning to readers through a combination of language and visual lexicons is the essential process of drawing comics, a process that in itself is significant. The semiotics of comics is a field of scholarship grounded in the broader discipline of semiotic theory in which all the components of comics, both visual and verbal, are the subject of study and research. By adopting a semiotic approach we are able to objectively analyze and understand the symbolic, social and ideological meanings embedded in the signs and sign processes expressed in comics. The fundamental pedagogical mission of teaching comics is to cultivate human nature through the study of theory as well as through the production and completion of original works that explore new modes of expression. To go further, interpreting those embedded meanings in the context of comics fosters effective and creative skills of expression that go beyond a mere fascination for the genre itself. In short, because the semiotic approach to understanding visual communication is the essence teaching comics, we can expect that the act of reading and creating comics plays a significant role in understanding visual communication.

  • Algebraic signs are important on learning and problem solving of algebra. This study investigated the contents of letters and expressions in textbooks by syntactics, semantics and pragmatics, and considered the introduction and extension processes of algebraic signs didactically. We also categorized the signs, and looked into textbook problems in view of semiotic. The result is that textbook is constructed in syntactics and semantics. Finally, the assessment of 7th grade students' competence in syntactics, semantics, syntactics+- semantics, pragmatics, and problem solving shows that students' ability in syntactics and pragmatics Is a predictive variable for algebraic problem solving.

  • Mathematical thinking can be symbolized by the external signs, and these signs determine in reverse the form of mathematical thinking. Each symbol - a symbol in algebra, a symbol in analysis, and a diagram which verifies syllogism - reflects the diverse characteristic of cogitation in mathematics and perfirms a heuristic function.
