On the Teaching of Algebra through Historico -Genetic Analysis (역사-발생적 분석을 통한 대수 지도)

  • History of mathematics must be analysed to discuss mathematical reality and thinking. Analysis of history of mathematics is the method of understanding mathematical activity, by these analysis can we know how historically mathematician' activity progress and mathematical concepts develop. In this respects, we investigate teaching algebra through historico-genetic analysis and propose historico-genetic analysis as alternative method to improve of teaching school algebra. First the necessity of historico-genetic analysis is discussed, and we think of epistemological obstacles through these analysis. Next we focus two concepts i.e. letters(unknowns) and negative numbers which is dealt with school algebra. To apply historico-genetic analysis to school algebra, some historical texts relating to letters and negative numbers is analysed, and mathematics educational discussions is followed with experimental researches.

A Study on the Connoted Messages of Princess Deokhye's Childhood Photography: Focusing on Roland Barthes' Semiological Methodology for Analysis of Photography (덕혜옹주 유년기 사진의 내포적 메시지에 관한 연구: 롤랑 바르트의 기호학적 사진 분석 방법론을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzes how Princess Deokhye's photos before entering elementary school were exploited in newspapers during the Japanese colonial period by introducing Roland Barthes' semiological methodology for analysis of photography. In the early 1920s, the Japanese imperialists actively exploited Princess Deokhye, who was about to enter elementary school, to propagate their education policy. The Maeil Shinbo cooperated with their policies by publishing photos and articles of Princess Deokhye. In this paper, 2 photos and articles published in Maeilshinbo were analyzed. As a result, it was found that messages were produced that justified Japanese education policy by using various rhetorical techniques of photography and texts complementary to each other, and that the readers were induced to accept them naturally. In conclusion, it was possible to reveal the seriousness of the problem in that these articles were not merely for propaganda of policy, but were to encourage the disappearance of the traditional values of Joseon.

A study on the communication system of web genre (웹 장르의 커뮤니케이션 체계 연구)

  • The concept of genre used to be applied to classify the fine arts also can investigate various way of communication system and classification. The structuring element of genre was identified by form and contents in that field. But the classification of the web, which is new communication tool, was made by defining the purpose of the web. In this paper the genre system, which consists of form, contents, and function, is applied to classify the web so that we offer tile opportunity to identify dearer characteristics of it. In order to investigate the genre elements in the communication process the structure of the semiotic triad after Charles S. Peirce was adapted, which was labeled as representamen, object, and interpretant. The representamen substitutes for the web function, the object does for the form of the web, and the representamen does for the web contents. According to the Peirce's the representamen identify the object but on the other hand it is identified by the interpretant. Logical structure of the fact that form of the web is identified by its function, and the function is identified by the contents is proved by following the theory. Therefore, the concept of web genre is supported by the element of genre having a logical structure activating in the communication process. We suggest that in recent complicated communication circumstance the genre concept should be adapted to implement the effective web communication design.

Semiotic Approach to the Representation Process of Time in Cinema (영화의 시간성 표현을 위한 기호학적 모델의 제언 -들뢰즈 "운동-이미지"의 기호화 과정을 중심으로-)

  • This paper proposed semiotic model to explain representation process of time in cinema. Limitations of cinematic narratology which explain representation process of time in cinema were indicated, then alternative explanations of Deleuzian philosophy of cinema were proposed. After discussion about articulations of cinematic code, Deleuzian concept of movement-image was suggested as semiotic minimal unit of cinema. In cinema, Movement-image is divided two different aspects ; "normal movement-image" and "abnormal movement-image". Therefore, two different semiotic representation process of time was reconstructed in accordance with Peircean semiosis theory. In this two different semiotic process, modern cinema emphasize the direct representation process of time with "abnormal movement-image". As Deleuze indicated, The "time-image" is presented in this semiotic process. The "time-image" makes it possible to consider "time itself" as philosophical fact which is laid between reality and cinema, This semiotic process more emphasizes pure expressionality than representationality. Deleuzian philosophical journey through cinema was started in this point.

  • 전자빔을 이용하던 CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) 모니터에서 픽셀단위의 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 디스플레이 사용으로 휴대용 정보처리 장치들은 급속한 발전을 이루게 되었다. 기존의 CRT 모니터에서 전자빔을 사용하던 방식에서 픽셀(Pixel) 단위의 후면발광 디스플레이를 만들면서 CRT 모니터보다 빠른 응답특성을 나타내며 저 전력일 뿐만 아니라 디스플레이의 두께도 줄일 수 있게 되었다. 휴대가 가능한 디스플레이의 발전으로 노트북이나 PDA와 같은 실시간 정보를 활용 및 처리 할 수 있는 방법들을 제시할 수 있었지만 원활한 활용을 위해 더 적은 전력을 사용하는 방법들이 제시되어야 했다. 이에 따라 저 전력 소모, 빠른 응답특성, 넓은 시야각 그리고 경량화가 가능한 디스플레이가 되기 위한 새로운 디스플레이가 선을 보이게 되었다. 현재 차세대 디스플레이로 각광을 받고 있는 디스플레이 소자로는 OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode)가 있다 이는 LCD 디스플레이가 가지고 있는 단점을 보완하여 우선적으로 높은 색도가 가능하며 후면발광을 사용하지 않고 자체 발광을 하기 때문에 저 전력 소모가 현실화되었다. 또한 디스플레이의 유동성이 가능하여 휘어질 수 있는 특성을 가지고 있다. 그러나 이러한 유기발광 소자의 경우 높은 발광 효율을 위한 구조적 개선이 필요하며 소자의 수명도 개선해야 한다. 이에 따라 유기발광 소자의 메카니즘에 대한 파악이 필요하게 되며 물리적 구조에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 이를 위해 물리적, 수치적 해석으로 소자의 특성을 파악해 줌으로써 개선된 유기발광 소자 제작이 가능 할 것이다.기에 대한 영향정도를 측정하여 정량적으로 도출하였다. 이를 각 구간에 대해 상호 비교 분석함으로써 대형국책사업에서의 공기지연인자에 대한 분석 방법론을 정립하였고 공기지연 분석 방법론의 현실적 적용을 위한 제언과 그에 따른 개선사항에 대해 도출하였다.있는 발판을 마련하게 된다고 추정하였다. 0.5%가 control사이에서 0.95로 가장 색차가 크게 나타났으며, 그 다음이 냉동분쇄 0.5% 0.83으로 나타나 송이의 첨가율이 높을수록 색차가 크게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. 색차가 가장 낮은 제품은 법동분쇄 0.3%, 동결건조 0.3%로 나타났다. 송이양갱의 색(color), 냄새(flavor), 맛(taste), 외관(appearances), 질감(viscosity), 종합적 평가(overall acceptability) 등의 관능평가를 실시한 결과 중 색에 대한 기호도는 냉동분쇄 0.1% 송이양갱이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으나, 집단간 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았고, 냄새는 동결건조 0.1%의 송이양갱이 3.38로 가장 점수가 높았으며, 냉동분쇄 0.3%의 송이양갱이 2.81로 가장 낮은 기호도를 나타내었다. 맛에서는 p<0.01수준에서 집단간 유의한 차이를 나타내었는데, 동결건조 0.1%가 그 중 가장 높은 기호도를 나타내었으며, 그 다음이 동결건조 0.5%였다. 가장 낮은 선호도를 나타낸 것은 열풍건조 0.5%였다. 질감은 P<.05 수준에서 집단간 유의미한 차이를 나타내었으며 동결건조 0.1%가 가장 높은 기호도를 나타내었으며, 동결건조 0.5%함유 송이양갱이 1.21로서, 현저히 낮은 기호도를 나타내었다. 종합적인 평가에서는 동결건조 0.1%함유

  • By analyzing abstract book cover design, this study aims to examine the applicability of the semiotic methodology of Roland Barthes and to conduct a preference survey of how people would accept it. The selected books for the study are and published in Openbooks publishing company to mark the 30th anniversary of the opening. The research results are as follows. First, it was confirmed that Roland Barthes' semiotic approach is a suitable tool for identifying the symbolic phenomena of visual elements that constitute abstract book cover design. Second, people were well informed of what the abstract form of design conveys, but they showed personal differences in preference, making it difficult to achieve clear results. This study, together with the importance of the internal meaning that appears in the book cover design, gives graphic designers an indication that interaction between the communicator and the acceptor should be sought.

A Semiotic Study on the Background Color of Fantasy Game (판타지 게임 배경 색채에 대한 기호학적 연구)

  • This study analyzes semiotic aspects of game concept art which is developed considering individual 's color experience. The six stages of Frank H. Mahnke's color pyramid are roughly classified into three categories, and how the game concept art meets each stage. Using the Roland Barthes's mythological-symbolic model of meaning, The meaning of righteousness and the characteristics of newly derived symbols. The results showed that colors could make the background stage more recognizable or intended to have a particular impression. In this way, game concept art, in which what is intended to be implemented in game development, can identify various functions and possibilities of game concept art, such as presenting game convenience as well as impression through a combination of various colors.

  • For the object-oriented development methods authorized by OMG a number of official methodologies such as Booch, Coad/Yourdon methods are used in the development of the object-oriented soft ware and each methodology represents its process of analysis and design using different symbols. Between those notation methodologies there exist some differences as a matter of development, information for transfer, accordingly they act on the transfer of the information in the object-oriented development as obstacle and give rise to they natural outcome of error. The aim of this study is in the presentation of ideas that decrease the probability of errors by means of verify8ing the transferring ability of information which the existing diagrammatic notation methodologies have had on the basis of cognitive science, minimizing the cognitive load from the object-oriented development through enhancing symbols in each obstacles to transferring information and removing them.

  • The present study is a discussion in which the flow of 'social and cultural values' inherent in the creative advertising story is considered against Bart's symbolism and the creative symbol system, and attempted to reproduce the work through the cognitive thinking of the inmates. The interaction of correct social and cultural communication is not just a strategy for persuasion and effectiveness. Starting with these issues, I thought that experiencing the 'symbolic production' and 'cognition interpretation' of the most creative, aesthetic and implicit advertising stories was the realization of concrete cultural values. The reason why I pay attention to advertising as a target tool of the original school is that it gives anyone access to the social and cultural values based on the productivity of meaning, the sharing of meaning and social small-call work by paying attention to the most implicit symbols in a short period of time. I also think that with the trend of the times, it is well worth it as a tool of positive communication for social and cultural member harmony and solving future problems. The reality of social and cultural advertising stories conducted in conjunction with the analysis of meaning at the cognitive thought level is very appropriate to apply in creative classes for college students. The Dong-A Ilbo is a discussion that suggested that the work of realizing the cognitive meaning of advertising stories, a "symbol complex" based on creativity in a complex, multi-media era, will become an age-old communication tool to join university students' strategies for solving future problems

  • Clearing trace of symbol which was gone with a series of pre-modern architecture history since the modern architecture (pursuing true nature from tradition which is repeated and imitated unconsciously). That is, What is the course of deconstruction? In the early part of the 20th century, We still accept the necessity of decoration in spite of its existence at one time being threaten. This means, even though symbolism in architecture has relative importance by situation of Times, it plays an important role to add the past to current style through 'Symbol'. The history of Times, a carrier which reflects Present on New Futures, makes memory by gathering data but we can not amplify our historical imagination with only data. Data is a past memory and evidence but we can not substitute that for historical experience. And it is difficult for future generations who don't live through that history to change their historical recognition with recollecting memories. They have to draw history with data but it is very limited in itself. However, They can collect historical memory through symbol in architecture. In this study, We pay attention to the symbolism of a memorial hall architecture. So We'll analyze dichotomy concept of Barthes's signifiant and signifie, visual sign and course of symbolic meaning on basis of Daniel Libeskind's Jewish Museum.
