To develop a chemical-looping combustion technology, conceptual design of 50 kW thermal chemical-looping combustor, which is composed of two interconnected pressurized circulating fluidized beds, was performed by means of mass and energy balance calculations. A riser type fast fluidized bed was selected as an oxidizer and a bubbling fluidized bed was selected as a reducer by mass balance for the chemical-looping combustor. Calculated values of bed mass, solid circulation flux, and reactor dimension by mass and energy balance calculations were suitable for construction and operation of chemical-looping combustor. It is concluded from the comparison of the design results and operating values of commercial circulating fluidized bed that the process outline is realistic. Moreover, the previous results support that oxygen carrier particle, NiO/bentonite, fulfills the conversion rates needed for the proposed design. The effects of system capacity, metal oxide content in a oxygen carrier particle, amount of steam input, gas velocity, and solid depth on design values were investigated and the changes in the system performance can be estimated by proposed design tool.

As a basic research of developing two-interconnected fluidized beds system for selective solid circulation, a solid separator was developed to separate fine and coarse particles by means of particle size difference with particle size separation system equipped with metal screen. The effects of gas velocity, height of solid separator, and separation area on the solid separation rate were investigated as well. The solid separation rate increased as the gas velocity, height of solid separator, and separation area increased. As the gas velocity and height of the solid separator increased, the variation of the solid separation rate was consistent with that of bubble size. Consequently, coarse($212{\sim}300{\mu}m$) and fine($63{\sim}106{\mu}m$) particles were separated using the solid separator and the solid separation rate was ranged from 4.4 to 127 g/min. We also proposed two interconnenced fluidized beds system for sorption enhanced water-gas shift process equipped with the developed solid separator.
To overcome disadvantages of conventional two interconnected fluidized beds system, a novel two-interconnected fluidized bed process has been adopted to 3kW chemical-looping combustor. This system has two bubbling beds, solid injection nozzles, solid conveying lines, and downcomers. In this study, effects of operating variables such as gas velocity through the solid injection nozzle, fluidizing velocity, solid height, geometry of solid intake hole, bed temperature on solid circulation rate have been investigated in a 3kW chemical-looping combustor. The solid circulation rate increased as the solid height and the opening area of solid intake holes increased. The effect of the fluidizing velocity and the bed temperature were negligible. Moreover, long-term operation of continuous solid circulation up to 50 hours has been performed to check feasibility of stable operation. The pressure drop profiles in the bubbling beds and the downcomers were maintained steadily and solid circulation was smooth and stable.

An experimental study is carried out to investigate the Reynolds number effects on the near-wake of an airfoil oscillating in pitch. An NACA 4412 airfoil is sinusoidally pitched about the quarter chord point between the angle of attack -6$^{\circ}$ and +6$^{\circ}$. A hot-wire anemometer is used to measure the turbulent intensity in the near-wake region of an NACA 4412 airfoil. The freestream velocities of present work are 3.4, 12.4, 26.2 m/s, and the corresponding Reynolds numbers are $5.3{\times}10^4,\;1.9{\times}10^5,\;4.1{\times}10^5$ and the reduced frequency is 0.1. Axial turbulent intensity profiles are presented to show the Reynolds number effects on the near-wake region behind an airfoil oscillating in pitch. All the cases in these measurements show that the turbulent intensities by the change of the Reynolds number are very large at the lowest Reynolds number $R_N=5.3{\times}10^4$; and are small at the other Reynolds number $(R_N=1.9{\times}10^5\;and\;4.1{\times}10^5)$ in the near-wake region. The significant difference of turbulent intensity between $R_N=5.3{\times}10^4,\;and\;1.9{\times}l0^5$ is observed. A critical value of the Reynolds number in the near-wake of an oscillating NACA 4412 airfoil which indicates laminar separation, no separation or turbulent separation exists in the range between $R_N=5.3{\times}10^4\;and\;1.9{\times}10^5$.

An NACA 4412 airfoil is sinusoidally pitched about the quarter chord point between the angle of attack -6$^{\circ}$ and +6$^{\circ}$. A hot-wire anemometer is used to measure the phase-averaged mean velocities in the near-wake region of an oscillating airfoil. The freestream velocities of present work are 3.4, 12.4, 26.2 m/s, and the corresponding Reynolds numbers are 5.3${\times}10^4$, 1.9${\times}10^5$, 4.l${\times}10^5$, and the reduced frequency is 0.1. Streamwise velocity profiles are presented to show the Reynolds number effects on the near-wake region behind an airfoil oscillating in pitch. All the cases in these measurements show that the velocity defects by the change of the Reynolds number are very large at the lowest Reynolds number $R_N$=5.3${\times}10^4$: and are small at the other Reynolds numbers ($R_N$=1.9${\times}10^5$ and 4.l${\times}10^5$) in the near-wake region. Storing the surplus energy from renewable energy resource is one of the challenges related to intermittent and fluctuating nature of renewable energy electricity production. $CO_2$ methanation is well known reaction that as a renewable energy storage system. $CO_2$ methanation requires a catalyst to be active at relatively low temperatures ($250-500^{\circ}C$) and selectivity towards methane. In this study, the catalytic performance test was conducted using a pressurized bubbling fluidized bed reactor (Diameter: 0.025 m and Height: 0.35 m) with $Ni/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ (Ni70%, and ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$30%) catalyst. The range of the reaction conditions were $H_2/CO_2$ mole ratio range of 4.0-6.0, temperature of $300-420^{\circ}C$, pressure of 1-9 bar, and gas velocity ($U_0/U_{mf}$) of 1-5. As the $H_2/CO_2$ mole ratio, temperature and pressure increased, $CO_2$ conversion increases at the experimental temperature range. However, $CO_2$ conversion decreases with increasing gas velocity due to poor mixing characteristics in the fluidized bed. The maximum $CO_2$ conversion of 99.6% was obtained with the operating condition as follows; $H_2/CO_2$ ratio of 5, temperature of $400^{\circ}C$, pressure of 9 bar, and $U_0/U_{mf}$ of 1.4-3.
To investigate the effects of the number of multiple-cycles and $SO_2$ concentration on $CO_2$ absorption characteristics by means of limestone, $CO_2$ capture capacity has been measured in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor (0.1m 1.D., 1.17m high). Danyang limestone was used as a $CO_2$ sorbent and the number of cycles $(\~10th\;cycle)$ and $SO_2$ concentrations (0, 2000, 4000 ppm) were considered as variables. The measured $CO_2$ capture capacity decreased as the number of cycles increased and it showed $50\%$ or initial value after 10 cycles. Moreover, $CO_2$ rapture capacity decreased with 501 concentrations. For three different $SO_2$ concentrations, the total CaO utilization was almost the same but $SO_2$ capture capacity increased and $CO_2$ capture capacity decreased as $SO_2$ concentration increased. These results suggest that $SO_2$ capture reaction is predominant over $CO_2$ capture reaction in the simultaneous $CO_2/SO_2$ capture conditions.

Four different pork loaves were made with two levels, HP/FP-3% and HP/FP-6%, containing 3.0 and 6.0% HP(hot air dried sweet persimmon powder)/FP(freezer dried sweet persimmon powder), respectively. HP and FP(3% and 6%) were added into ground pork loin separately. A control without persimmon powder were used for comparison. Patties were cooked to 74℃ in electric oven, after cooling, the aerobic packaged meat loaves were stored at 5℃. The moisture and crude ash were higher in the FP-6%, and the crude protein and crude fat were no different among the samples. The pH in control sample was significantly higher(p<0.05) than those of treatment group, however no significant difference was found among the 4 treatments. The TBARS(thiobarbituric reactive substance) values of all samples showed a tendency of increasing value along the storage days. The TBARS and a* value increased(p<0.05) as the addition ratio of HP/FP increased, respectively. With regard to microorganisms, the number of total aerobic bacteria were lower than 3.11 log10 CFU/g. In sensory evaluation, meat loaves containing persimmon powder resulted in a high overall acceptability, although they were not significantly different in overall acceptability.
The purpose of this study is to secure the basis for judgment on the cause of an accident by analyzing the melting characteristics of a blade type fuse used for vehicles due to overload. In order to increase the reliability of the test, it was conducted by connecting the electrical system with conditions similar to those of an actual vehicle to apply the load. Carbonization pattern experiment of fuse by outside flame applied Korean Standard (KS). The fuse melted by the overcurrent showed a smooth cross-section while the test terminals, clear plastic body, etc., burnt out by the external flame was badly deformed. When 185% of the rated current (27.8A) was applied to a cable of 15A rated current onto which an over-capacity fuse (20A) was installed, the fuse melting time was 217 seconds. In addition, when a load current of 28.8[A] (139%) was applied, the fuse's test terminal and terminal blade were not burnt out although foam was observed on some parts of the plastic body. When a load capacity of 28.2[A] (141%) was applied to a cable of 15A rated current onto which an over-capacity fuse (30A) was installed, the fuse melting time was approximately 10 seconds. When a load current of 35.8[A] (119%) was applied, the fuse's test terminal and terminal blade were not burnt out, although some parts of the plastic body was swelled. However, it was observed that the switch terminal melted if approximately six minutes lapsed under such conditions. When a load capacity of 39.4[A] (131%) was applied to a cable of 15A rated current onto which an over-capacity fuse (30A) was installed, the fuse melted in approximately 69 seconds, and the test terminal and terminal blade were not burnt.
To develop SEWGS (sorption enhanced water gas shift) system using dry $CO_2$ absorbent for pre-combustion $CO_2$ capture, hydrodynamic characteristics of $CO_2$ absorbents were measured and investigated. The minimum fluidization velocity of $CO_2$ absorbent was measured and the effects of the operating conditions were investigated to operate the system at bubbling fluidized bed condition. The minimum fluidization velocity decreased as pressure and temperature increased. Moreover, the minimum fluidization velocity decreased as column diameter increased. The effects of operating conditions on the solid circulation rate were measured and investigated to select appropriate operating conditions for continuous $CO_2$ capture and regeneration. The measured solid circulation rates were ranged between 10 and 65 kg/h and increased as the solid injection velocity, gas velocity in the regeneration reactor, and solid height increased.
