한.일의 IMS기술개발사업과 공업소유권 Issue

  • 제조업의 경쟁력을 기업이 보유하고 있는 기술력이 좌우한다고 할 때 기술은 크게 제품기술과 생산기술로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 제품기술의 혁신(Product Innovation)은 모든 과학 및 공학부문의 기초, 응용기술을 집약하여 최종 사용자의 구매의욕을 유발시킬 수 있도록 제품의 기능과 형상을 결정하는 과정으로, 오늘날 하나의 흐름을 형성하고 있는 소형, 경량화, 다기능 통합화, 에너지 절감 형, 지능형제품개발 외에도 기업의 Identity에 부합하는 이미지 제품의 개발(예: 독일 제품은 튼튼하다, 쏘니제품은 스마트하다 등), 신기술이 접목된 신제품 개발에 의한 신규 수요 창출 등에 그 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 우리나라의 경우 제품의 수명주기 상에서 볼 때 성숙기 또는 쇠퇴기에 있는 제품들이 주력산업을 형성하고 있는데 이와 같은 산업에서는 부가가치가 적기 때문에 환율이나 유가변동과 같은 외부의 충격에도 경제 전체가 흔들리는 상황을 맞게 된다. 반면에 일본이나 독일은 부가가치가 가장 큰 성장기의 제품을 주력산업으로 하면서 도입기/발아기 제품을 다음 주력 상품으로 준비하는 구조를 갖추고 있기 때문에 웬만한 충격을 충분히 소화시키면서 안정적으로 성장할 수 있는 것이다. 따라서 우리나라의 주력 산업을 여하히 부가가치가 높은 성장기/도입기의 제품으로 이전하느냐 하는 것이 우리 경제가 안고 있는 근본적인 숙제이며 이를 풀기 위하여는 제품기술혁신을 위한 투자와 노력을 인내심 있게 장기적으로 경주해야 할 것이다.

Novel Database Classification and Life Estimation Model for Accurate Database Asset Valuation

  • In the future knowledge society, the importance of business data is expected to increase, and it is recognized as a raw material for companies to manufacture product or develop service. As the importance of data increases, methods to calculate the economic value of database assets is being studied. There are many studies to evaluate the value of database assets, but the characteristics of database assets are not fully reflected. In this study, we classified database assets into revenue-type, non-revenue-type, and public-type database assets by considering the characteristics of database assets. In addition, focusing on the fact that revenue-type database assets can be valued similarly to existing technology valuation, we developed a method for calculating the life of database assets that includes risk-adjusted discount rate.

  • IT(Information Technology)-based industries have caused a recent digital revolution and the appearance of various types' information service, being largely expanded toward info-communication device company, info-communication service company, software company etc.. Therefore, the needs to evaluate the company value of IT business for M&A or liquidation are growing tremendously. Unlike other industries, however, IT industry has a short lift cycle and so it doesn't have not only a company value-evaluating model for general businesses but the objective one for IT companies yet. So, this thesis analyzes various value-evaluating technique and newly rising ROV. DCF, the change method of company's cash flow including tangible assets into future value, had been applied during the past industrialization economy era and has been persuasively applied to the present. However, the DCF valuation has no option but to make many mistakes because IT companies have more intangible assets than tangible assets. Accordingly, it is ROV, recognized as the new method of evaluating companies' various options normally and quantitatively, that is brought up recently. But the evaluation on the companies' various options is too subjective and theoretical up to now and due to the lack of objective ground and options, it's not possible to be applied to reality. In this thesis, it is found that ROV is more accurate than DCF, comparing DCF and ROV through four examples. As the options applied to ROV are excessively limited, we tried to develop ROV into a new method by deriving five invisible value factors within IT companies. Therefore, on this occasion, we should set up the basic valuation methods on IT companies and should research and develop an effective and various valuation methods suitable to each company like an internet-based company, a S/W developing enterprise, a network-related company among IT companies.

Strategic Behavioral Characteristics of Co-opetition in the Display Industry (디스플레이 산업에서의 협력-경쟁(co-opetition) 전략적 행동 특성)

  • It is more salient in the high-tech industry to cooperate even among competitors in order to promptly respond to the changes in product architecture. In this sense, 'co-opetition,' which is the combination word between 'cooperation' and 'competition,' is the new business term in the strategic management and represents the two concepts "simultaneously co-exist." From this view, this study set up the research purposes as follows: 1) investigating the corporate managerial and technological behavioral characteristics in the co-opetition of the global display industry. 2) verifying the emerging factors during the co-opetition behavior hereafter. 3) suggesting the strategic direction focusing on the co-opetition behavioral characteristics. To this end, this study used co-word network analysis to understand the structure in context level of the co-opetition. In order to understand topics on each network, we clustered the keywords by community detection algorithm based on modularity and labeled the cluster name. The results show that there were increasing patterns of competition rather than cooperation. Especially, the litigations for mutual control against Korean firms much more severely occurred and increased as time passed by. Investigating these network structure in technological evolution perspective, there were already active cooperation and competition among firms in the early 2000s surrounding the issues of OLED-related technology developments. From the middle of the 2000s, firm behaviors have focused on the acceleration of the existing technologies and the development of futuristic display. In other words, there has been competition to take leadership of the innovation in the level of final products such as the TV and smartphone by applying the display panel products. This study will provide not only better understanding on the context of the display industry, but also the analytical framework for the direction of the predictable innovation through analyzing the managerial and technological factors. Also, the methods can support CTOs and practitioners in the technology planning who should consider those factors in the process of decision making related to the strategic technology management and product development.

  • The most serious problem company facing in today's business environment is the failure of new product development outcomes. Statistically, almost half of the new products released each year failed. Despite the innovative technological advances, consumers' expectation level become much higher and global competition is intensifying. In addition, the new product life cycle is becoming shorter and shorter. It is difficult for a company to survive without developing long-lived products. The most important issue in a company's success and failure is the successful development and introduction of new products. Previous research has presented many determinants to achieve a successful new product development. This study focuses on dynamic competence as an important determinant, and identifies the constituting elements. Enterprises need to acquire, absorb, integrate and reconfigure their resources to survive and develop continuously. It is necessary to hold a dynamic ability switching resource bases in order to adapt to changing environments. The results of this study are as follows: First, the effect of learning, reconfiguration, and alliance capabilities on the new product development of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises seems to be positive. Second, the integrative and reconfiguration capabilities positively affect a new product development under high environmental turbulence.

  • Domestic corporation in High-tech industry invest huge amounts of economic resources into the Research & Development(R&D) department, especially into new product development. It might be an adequate explanation for this phenomena that as the product life cycle gets shorter, and environmental uncertainty necessitates core competency from every corporation, new product planning becomes a vital going concern for the company to keep and increase its market share This could originate from an inappropriate combination between new products and other marketing mix elements. But it could be that the main cause of these failures com from unsatisfactory customers. In the other words, R&D department failed to sufficiently recognize market needs. This could be solved through integration between marketing department R&D department This study supposes that integration between these two departments-marketing department and R&D department influences the success of new product. Data and reliability evaluation in industry (산업체에서의 데이터와 신뢰성평가)

  • In the case of manufacturing companies, various types of data are collected. Many of these data can be used as useful information for product reliability evaluation. In this study, we first look at data that can be collected by a manufacturing company and related to products, technology, finance, and customers. Next, we will look at the company's business management system, scientific journals, test and marketing survey data, etc., as sources of data. Next, look at what kind of data is collected over the product life cycle to evaluate the reliability of the product. In the development stage of the product, reliability test is performed for each component, and reliability data is collected by performing reliability test at the subsystem and system level. On the other hand, at the manufacturing stage, data on the functional test and the design change test of the product are collected, and at the field stage, the problem of the product is detected in the field and collected in the form of data. Finally, let's look at what you need to do to make a reasonable analysis later in your data collection.

  • Inventory management is one of the important business functions for manufacturing companies to determine market responsiveness. Customers' needs are diversifying, and the life cycle of products is decreasing, thus increasing the importance of inventory management. However, for small-scale manufacturing companies, investing in an IT system for inventory management is practically difficult. In this study, we introduce an inventory and warehouse management model that can be applied simply and quickly in small-scale manufacturing companies. Firstly, we introduce the concept of the properties of inventory and provide an analytical methodology based on the age and quantity of the inventory. Secondly, in accordance with the properties of the inventory, we introduce location management rules for warehouse operation. To apply the proposed model, we studied a wallpaper manufacturing company and verified the applicability of the proposed methods in the field. The proposed model can be applied immediately as part of on-site improvement activities by small-scale manufacturing companies, and inventory management activities are expected to reduce bad long-term inventory and further secure storage capacity for warehouses.

  • 존 켈리 회장은 7월 12일 경주시 힐튼호텔에서 열린 '원자력 안전 및 해체산업 육성 국제 포럼'에 참석하여 'Perspectives on the Future of Nuclear Power in the United States'를 주제로 특별강연을 했다. 켈리 회장은 강연을 통해 미 행정부의 원자력정책, 미국 원자력산업의 단기 도전 과제, 전력 생산에서의 이산화탄소 감축과 원전 역할, 원전의 지속적인 운영, 미국에서 진행되는 신형 원자로 설계 등을 피력했다. 켈리 회장은 이날 언론과의 인터뷰에서 "한국은 원자력산업 강국인데, 원전 안전성에 대한 과학적인 근거보다 정치적 이슈로 신규 원전을 짓지 않고 수명 연장 대신 조기 폐쇄를 결정한 것은 우려할 사안"이라고 말하고 "원전산업 축소는 장기적으로 기업의 전력 확보가 어려워져 경제적 타격을 입는다. 특히 한국은 원전을 수출하면서 탈원전정책을 펴면 수출에 지장을 받지 않을까 걱정된다."고 밝혔다. 켈리 회장은 MIT 원자력공학박사로 미국 에너지부(DOE) 원자력에너지 기술책임자를 지냈다. 본고는 발표 내용을 정리한 것이다.
