  • This paper investigates the role of corporate entrepreneurship for enhancing a firm's market orientation and competence. It distinguishes exploitive competence enhancement from explorative competence enhancement. The results reveal that corporate entrepreneurship influences both exploitive competence enhancement and explorative competence enhancement. Interestingly, among the components of market orientation, competitor orientation plays key roles, facilitating interfunctional coordination, and thus increasing exploitive competence enhancement and explorative competence enhancement. However, customer orientation affects only explorative competence enhancement.

  • Climate change and related policies and regulations influence the performance of the firms in various ways. Climate change influences corporate competitiveness through physical impacts, GHG regulations, changes in asset values, demand shift, etc. Therefore, corporate competitiveness could be maintained by reducing vulnerability to climate change and adapting to new circumstances. Without effective responses to the challenges, the firms would have difficulties in maintaining their competitiveness in the market and the cost of national economy will significantly increase as well. Even though it seems fairly easy to understand the meaning of competitiveness, deriving the driving forces of and measuring changes in competitiveness are complicated and disputable processes. A common way to overcome it is to develop a 'competitiveness index'. The objective of this study is to derive the main factors influencing corporate competitiveness related to climate change and develop 'competitiveness index' reflecting those factors. The index will make contribution to enhance the response capacity of the firms to climate change and increase the effectiveness of climate change policies for the industry by providing a quantitative tool to measure the changes in corporate competitiveness related to climate change.

  • 우리나라는 기술개발을 통한 부가가치 향상만이 우리 기업의 시장경쟁력을 유지시킬 수 있다. 우리 기업의 경쟁력 유지로 국내 고용을 유지할 수 있고 계속 이 고용된 인구의 생활수준을 유지할 수 있다. 경쟁력을 위한 기술개발은 처음부터 목표가 뚜렷해야 하며 기술개발 효율을 높이기 위하여는 시장파악부터 생산 판매에 이르기까지 일관성 있는 조직이 구성되어야 한다. 개발 생산 판매가 모두 한가지 목표를 향해 같은 전략으로 추진되어야 한다. 인력양성도 교육기관과 기업의 역할분담이 필요하며 창의성을 발휘할 수 있는 조직의 여유가 필요하다. 새로운 시대의 기술개발은 첨단분야와 기존분야, 어떤 분야를 막론하고 시장경쟁력을 제고하는 방향으로 추진되며 사업분야의 성장여부에 구애받지 않고 임금을 지불하고도 경쟁력이 있을 수 있다.

  • In the construction industry, "Green" is emerging as a keyword of new growth engine. Since green construction competitiveness is essential for contractors' survival and growth, it is important to understand what constitutes green construction competitiveness. The objective of the study is to identify elements of green construction competitiveness and to discuss relationships between their importance and current level based on the Gap analysis. A better understanding of the elements of green construction competitiveness assists contractors in formulating green strategies. It also provides insight into what motivates contractors in establishing related policies and regulations. The study identifies that in general there exists a gap between the importance and current level of green construction competitiveness. It also demonstrates that CEO' competence shows a less gap between the importance and current level but firms' competence is an area of weakness. Finally a substantial gap is observed in the field of green R&D strategies and sub-contracting partners.

  • This study is an empirical analysis completed based on a survey of the members of major construction companies and is analyzed to verify the relationship between the ethical characteristics of major construction companies and firm's competitiveness and its effects. In this study, based on previous researches in domestic and foreign, the factors that are affected by the business ethics were analyzed, and the competitiveness of firms, which is a dependant variable, was divided into four different types: quality, price, sales, and promotion. The proposal and final conclusion regarding the relationship between job satisfaction and concentration was made after the investigation of research hypothesis. The conclusions described below:(By the Linear regression analysis) 1. The product competitiveness is affected by moral competence, will to act ethical management, transparency of fairness, customers, and social responsibility. 2. The price competitiveness is affected by will to act ethical management, transparency of fairness, customers, and social responsibility.

  • Korea's spatial information companies have been supported by the government due to overcome the weak global competitiveness. This research examines possible causality between the request from the company and the policy support by the government. Structural equation model is used to analyze the recognized competitiveness and the supporting policy. The analysis result shows no statistically significant causality between the company's request and government's support. In other words, the current policies including subsidies, tax incentives, national certificates, and information channels do not impact the global competitiveness of a spatial information company. This research concludes that it is necessity to identify actual weaknesses of the company and to review the efficiency of the supporting policies to overcome those identified weaknesses.
